We have gotten several of these calls. We reported the number to Phone busters, 1-888-495-8501. Phonebusters is part of the scam dividion of the Ontario Provincial Police and RCMP.

They call us a lot in Vancouver. I pressed 1 and got an operator with perhaps
an Indian accent. I asked the name of the company and he hung up. *69 did
not work. The call sounds just like the other ones posted here.

In Ontario. Telephone company not willing to do anything unless I "pay" for a service. I can't seem to file a report with gov't or business as this company is probably in the states.
Pressing "One" and got disconnected. Pressing "Two" doesn't do anything. I don't know the number as was blocked on call-display but its the same message about lowering interest rates. The volume is insanely jacked up and will render anyone deaf if its turned up enough.
Can someone find out if this "IOWA" is related to an actual bank? If it is, I will call their business office and put an end to these calls on my phone line.

I'm in Vancouver and got this call once on my call display and two recorded messages. Guess they were calling again when I was listening to the first message.
The name says, "Iowa" on my call display.
There should be a company that will take all frequent "scam" numbers and de-register them so they'll have to keep applying and paying for a new number.

This indian fellow wanted my phone number so he could know who I was, ultimately to give me a lower interest rate on 'whatever' credit card had the highest interest rate. He said definitively, that I was paying way too much interest on ALL my credit cards. I hung up.

Same thing here; I pressed one and asked what the name of their company was, and was promptly hung up on. This is definitely a scam.

I live in the Calgary area. Received this voice mail twice although the first time it was cut off and I didn't know what the offer was, the 2nd time there was an offer to lower my credit card interest rate. No company name mentioned in the message. The ph. #'s were 712-429-0273 and 0266.

They never call when we are home, but the number keeps showing up on our caller log, and they never leave a message. We are in Hamilton, Ontario.

Just got a call from them and it seemed suspicious to me, especially when they offered me a recording of their conversation, and she mentioned that not at the start, but later into the call. Definitely a scam. She wanted me to give out my credit card info, which was an automatic sign it was a scam. If they were for real, they'd have my card info. They ask for the type of card it is, your expiration date, and then the credit card number. They ask for the total balance owed and what the limit is so they can know how much they can steal from you without going over the limit. They also pretend to know certain info about the card, such as the number on the back to call for that card, which is easy to get elsewhere, and they tell what number the card starts with, which is also easy to find out. SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

I am in Canada too and traced the area code to Council Bluffs, Iowa a couple weeks ago when I found a similar call on my voice mail from 712-429-0266 & then an hour later got another automated call from the same number. Like last time, this time I got the pre-recorded message with a woman's voice saying she was calling from "Card Services" & informing me that they wanted to offer a low interest rate on my current credit card and press one to connect to an operator or press 3 to be taken from "removed from our calling list." (Probably just to a different number within their group of numbers - could be a never ending prolem at this rate!) The messages from either number never named the credit card company.

I live in the Toronto area. Received this voice mail, offer to lower my credit card interest rate to as low as 6.9%. No company name mentioned in the message.

Same thing here - we're getting this message so often and we're not home when they call, so we can't press the option to disconnect.
So. Frustrating.

This is the 2nd call to me from this number. The 1st was 2 weeks ago, the same pre-recorded message others reported. This time I said nothing and waited, silence. When I finally said hello, music started to play but I hung up immediately, not caring to hear the message. I am in Ontario as well.

I am in Canada and traced the area code to Council Bluffs, Iowa. There was a prerecorded message on my voice mail informing me that they wanted to offer a low interest rate on my current credit card and press one to connect to an operator. They never mention the credit card company and I believe that this is potentially a scam to get a persons personal information (identity theft).
