Receive calls daily form some one representing them selvs as Verizon. Tryed to call that number back, go a message saying, we are closed, hours are 9am to 7pm, I called 10am and 2pm same message!!

I received the same call tonight and when I called back I got the same message to call back during business hours (9am - 9pm) and it was freaking 8:30.  My wife said she had the same call the other day and they actually talked to her.  Since they called my land line, can I still report them to the FCC or is that for wireless only?

same as above. they called, asked if XXXX was there, i said "this is he", and then they hung up. called at 7:40pm. (on my HOME phone. not my cell, which is with verizon)

i called right back. i got an automated answer that said(paraphrasing), "thank you for your interest in verizon wireless. we are closed, our hours are 9am-9pm mon through fri. (notice i called at 7:45. 1 hour 15 mins. BEFORE there stated closing time)

SO... I called *611 on my cell (verizons support number) explained the above to the support lady. she looked up the number for me and told me that it was the number for a verizon store, and that the stores hours were the same as what the canned answer i got calling the number. and that i didnt have to worry about being scammed.

i tried calling the number just now and keep getting busy signals.

i think I'll call back and give them this URL so that they can see that they are pissing off a lot of people and that i will cancel my service with them if it continues.

Same comments as everyone else, several calls a day, I haven't answered but have tried to call back; get the "all circuits are busy" message. Very irritating

Caller said they were from Verizon Wireless and wanted to speak to me and then as soon as I said "yes, that's me," the line disconnected.  I called a few times and it was busy.

I went one step further and tried to pay $20 for a reverse lookup and here's what they said:

My concern was that there is some kind of identity scam and the call was spoofed as Verizon Wireless and is used to correlate a name with a number for further discovery and abuse.

Received a call from 712-945-0163 @ 3:23 PM on May 01, 2007.  Picked up and greeted.  No response other side.  Hung up.  We have a device that will block unwanted numbers.  This number is getting entered into the device!  This is the first time I have received a call from this number.

What a mark on the company's reputation for doing this garbage huh?  If you are a Verizon customer, then I'll bet it is legal for them to call you like this, although they should stop it if you request.  They are making it very difficult to identify them though.

I am receiving multiple calls from this number at various times during the day.  I am in the process of contacting the FCC as instructed by C-Hi.  I have tried calling back and receive fast busy tones, except I once got to a voicemail system that claims it is a verizon wireless voicemail.  I have tried Verizon Wireless and they claim the number does not belong to them.  I have contacted the police and they explain they cannot do anything unless the caller specifically threatens me.  I am now going to pay for "Call Intercept" through Verizon which will allow me to block the specific number, however I am going to report the number.

I got a call from this number Saturday afternoon, and finally spoke to someone (they just hung up the previous 20 or so times they called).

I listened for a minute to understand who was calling me.  The woman told me she was from Verizon checking to see if my plan was meeting my current needs.  She knew what kind of plan I had AND how many minutes I had used for the last several months.  So I knew that it was either Verizon or a company to which Verizon had given my records.

I then stopped her and said I wasn't interested.  I told her that I had received 20 or more phone calls from that number and every other time I either missed the call and no message was left, or when I picked up I heard nothing.  She explained to me that "of course" they were using auto dialers, so sometimes it didn't connect.  I also told her that I had already reported their number to the FCC and I didn't understand why they were calling me.  She said that it was because I had Verizon and ... (I cut her off.) I said I knew they had called people who didn't have Verizon, and I thought it was outrageous that they were using my plan minutes to call me for this.  She said it didn't use my plan minutes.  I said, well right now you're not using my minutes, because it's a Saturday, but I've had lots of calls during daytime hours, and I was pretty sure it was using minutes then.  I then told her I wanted to speak to a supervisor.

After a minute or so (hey, I had some time to kill) I spoke to a supervisor named "Dean" (I think ...).  He told me they were calling me because I had Verizon, to which I responded I knew they were also calling people that had other services (as I learned from this website).

I told the supervisor that I was not interested in them calling me, that I was perfectly happy with my plan and that if I wanted a change in my service, *I* would call Verizon, and didn't need them to call me.  I told him I didn't want to be called again, and he told me I would be placed on their "Do Not Call List."  I thanked him, told him I had already reported the number to the FCC, and would do so again, and then hung up.  I did so pleasantly, of course, beccause, hey, he's just doing his job - no reason to scream at a guy for that.

But then this morning as I was on my way to work I get yet another call from 712-945-0163.  Again, the call connected, and a "Molly" began the same speech as the woman who called on Saturday.  I cut her off and said, hey look, I spoke to a supervisor on Saturday who said I would be put on the "Do Not Call List".  She asked if the supervisor told me that it might take a few days to update my number on all of their phone numbers (but ... it's from the SAME Caller-ID 712-945-0163!!!).  I said the supervisor didn't tell me that, but I asked her if she knew that I had already reported the number to the FCC, and would do so again today.  

I then told her that I didn't think it was Verizon, and asked if they weren't a company that Verizon had hired, and she said, that yes, they were a 3rd party company that Verizon had hired to make these calls.

I asked her (very politely) to make sure my number was on the "Do Not Call" registry and do not call me again, because next time I would not answer so nicely.  I then told her to have a nice day.  She said she would do so and told me to have a nice day as well.

If you receive a call from 712-945-0163 I urge you to report it to the FCC - the procedure is explained here:

It's bad enough when telemarketers call you on your landline, but atleast then you're not using minutes.  I consider it extremely rude when I am called on my cell phone at all hours of the day (I've received calls from 9 am to about 8 pm, and even when I was on vacation!) from 712-945-0163, and this has to stop, NOW.

Someone from this phone number calls here 2 or 3 times a day. I want them to stop. We have had a death of a nephew, a brother and a brother in law just had a maligant tumor removed and is not doing well. I don't need this calls on junk I am not interested it. These people are not even  smart enought to leave a message on my machine. And I am not calling them back. I have better things to do.

My business (land line) phone gets called from this number regularly.  When I answer (to tell the caller to stop calling), there is no response, only a hang up.  The practice is extremely annoying.

My contract with Verizon Wireless is up in less than 6 months.  I never answered this call and never received a voicemail.  It appears they will call me back, so I think I will answer next time.

My mom recieved the exact same call. However, when she received the call, the person identified themselves as being from verizon wireless and then asked to speak with my fiance. My mom isn't a verizon wireless customer, but my fiance is. So I'm curious how they got my mom's number and then asked for someone that she knew....very odd.

received two calls today and didn't answer. called back after about a few hours and recvd a message sayng all circuits are busy. however back 12/24/06 i believe they called while i was shopping they were asking that i change my plan and almost did.. luckily i always talk to dh about stuff such as this and i said i'd call you back and found it odd when she said i can't give you a number but will call you back... appreciate all the feedback posted here thus far... it has been helpful!
