I just got off the phone with him and have a check from him for $2250.00.  that is over the $600 we were selling the scooter for on craigslist.  I texted him and said we were having trouble cashing the check and to send me $600 by western union.  I also told him that if I do not get it by tomorrow at noon we have another buyer and first come first serve.  We will wait and see and let you all know.  The check was from Ford Motor Company, Ford Service/Lincoln service/quick lane, 116 premier drive, orlon, mi 48359.  yes the name orlon, mi does not exist.  found out there is no such named company in orion, mi.  This one goes by Dennis.  these are the phone numbers he has used to call us and text us.  713-900-6486,  831-515-8095.  the bank on the check is from Comerica Bank and Trust NA.  

He had posted an add for administrative asst and when he called me saying what it really was I said no thanks and he still mailed me a check for over 2 grand the bank even said it would clear but I still shredded it. He used the name Dr. David Humphrey

Don't cash it. Give it to the police or something. He actually threatened to report me to the FBI, don't know what I did wrong though, so I called them (FBI) and let them know what was going on.

Claimed to want to buy a set of tires that I have for sale. Pretty much the same situation and phone number except that he is going by the name of Anthony Dunlap Jr. The asking price was $350 and he sent a check $1980. I'm not cashing and am taking it the police. When we called a man with an indian/ middle eastern accent answered. He also claimed that his wife had breast cancer that he wants me to send the difference to the doctor. Don't fall for it people. Don't give him your address.

I responded to a job posting on Craigslist and they responded to me. They gave me an online interview, and the next day I got a job offer. Thinking this was strange, I refused to go further until I would at least speak to someone. They gave me this number. I immediately googled it, and see that my suspicions were correct. Be very careful, there's people tring to get you out there!

This scam seems to have been going on for over a year.  He keeps calling and e-mailing me too.  My question is why is this guy allowed to carry on?  Many of you have said that you are filing complaints with the police or Feds, but the e-mails and calls continue.

I just had the same thing happen!  Trying to sell an item on Craig's list, and I get a response from someone using the name "Nancy Williams" asking for more information, so I replied.  The next day, I get an email (to my REAL email address) from this "Adam Shepherd" character. Wanting info to send me a check.  I checked him out right away and found this post.  I put him in my SPAM folder and will report "Nancy Williams" as a SCAM to Craig's list.  I would advise others to do the same.

This guy also contacted me via craigslist, same as everyone else here, I posted an item on CL, first a woman responded then a man, offered to pay more and asked me to remove my item from CL.  Here are the emails and names they used.  Tiffany Lentz necharm1212@gmail.com via craigslist.org  to djvzs-34462902 and Adam Shepherd conscious.certain.6060@gmail.com.  We also notified the authorities.

Guy replied to Craigslist ad, Said he'd buy trundle bed for $400 plus $50 if  took post down right away. Then fedexd a check for $1950 said to cash it and the rest would be used to pay shipping. He was asked why not just buy new bed for $700 at local store. Still said cash check. Caller got magic jack vm message. Check was from business in fla. he goes by name John L. Number is (770) 347-9958
GA, USA. Check had name Geoffrey Binnefeld real estate.    , that's one great trundle bed to pay $1500 to ship a $400 bed !

Yep, same messages :/ I received an email from Julia Martin <houstonsight20004@gmail.com> , she was interested, next day received email from Adam Shepherd <conscious.certain.6060@gmail.com> , beginning with "Good to hear from you." asked about conditions and said he will give me an extra $50 for my troubles and asked I take my item down , consider it sold to him. All the emails posted above are word for word to mine. Adam said his wife had Breast Cancer and his assistant (spelled "assistance") had mailed a check to me but overpaid me with funds meant for his wifes Doctor bill.  He said he hopes we can still complete this transaction in a timely manner. I was to cash all the money "in my bank" and give the overpaid cash to the person who would be picking up the item. Looks like Adam Shepherd has been a busy buyer. and us as the honest seller gets screwed , our bank accounts washed out. Banks have no mersy on us. Authorities will most likely say too bad, be careful next time.

Same guy same story for me. Scam of course - but I checked this website before giving him anymore info. I also advised Craigslist. I also sent him back his own number and called myself Adam Sheperd and told him the FBI were on his tail and he should move back to Iran.

It's a scam!! What they do is give you a bad check/money order over the asking price, deposit the money at your bank and resend them the remaining balance. When your bank tries to collect the funds (from Western Union, let?s say), they?ll find out that they?ve got a money order scam on their hands. They won?t get any money, and they?ll deduct the fake money from your account. If your account is empty, you?ll go into the negative and you?ll have to pay the bank back. Plus your checks will bounce and your debit/ATM card will become worthless if the money order scam wipes out your account.

I got the same message from Adam Shepherd today.  He wants to buy my plantation shutters and will give me an extra $50.00 to hold them from him.  Luckily, I googled his name and found this website.  I will not be responding to him but wonder if I should report him to Craig's List.  I don't think I can report him to the police because he really didn't do anything to me.   I did not respond with my name, address or phone number.

he tried the same w/ my gf.   The lack of punctuation should warn you.  I had something similar happen when I had a tile store.  It seemed to good to be true, which it usually is.

I got this exact e-mail from the same e-mail address. Sadly, I already gave him my address and info. I will be taking everything sent to me to the police. He wants me to route the rest of the money he sent to a doctor for his wife. I call b***s***. I almost want to keep all the money and not route it anywhere, but I will be taking the e-mail address and envelope to my local police station.

just had  a guy call me about a post i have on craiglist for a bobby orr rookie card for $800 and want me to take it off  and he will send the money for it the number is 7139006486 his name is Adam Shephard from Texas saying that he live in LA sound like a scam

I have a Drum set on craigslist for sale and this guy was willing to give me more than the asking price. i thought it wasnt right but hubby said go for it he seems interested...yeah well im not so sure anymore. i didnt get a name but the email holder says Mario Gonzalez. I think im not going to answer any more emails and i will have to add that statement to all my posts now. Thank you for posting this.

I had an item on Craigslist up for sale & was contacted by a woman thru email asking about it.  The next day a different guy emailed me & asked me to take the item off Craigslist, then he would send me a check with an extra $40 for my trouble?  He then proceeded to email me again & said he overpaid me & the extra money was supose to go to his wifes Dr because is had texsts ran & not has brest cancer.  Same guy is sending me a check in the mail today & wanting me to deposit the funds, then immediately withdraw the balance & western union the remainder to Redwood City California.  His name is also Douglas Fredrick, this scumbag has even called me asking me if I have received his latest email with his instructions.  I should be getting something in the mail from him today with delivery confirmation.  

It sounded like a scam from the get go & then after I heard his voice over the phone I kinda thought he might be involved in some kind of terrist activity.  He had that Arabic I can't hardly speak English voice.

His so called Dr is: Manuel Conterras, Redwood City California, 94063 or at least that's his western union contact.  

So his western union name might be his real name.  He will be reported to the local police & Local FBI office.
