While legitimate collections are expected on past due accounts, when they reach incorrect numbers, or even a correct number and the person has no ability to pay, and request according to federal laws, that calls stop, they need to stop, period. BofA is so arrogant and disregard proper lawful proceedures, it is amazing they feel they are so far above the law. Guess with billions from the federal gov't they can hire lawyers to fight lawsuits regarding their illegal collection proceedures. Amazing how the system works.

Had two calls from this number.  Left no message.  It is long distance for me so I don't pick up calls from unknown numbers on my cell phone.

When I phoned from a Land Line it seemed to be a Bank of America customer service call in number.

I have a BoA card...and I have a payment plan with them...and they always call leaving me messages saying that want to talk about my "overdue business" with them.  WHAT overdue business! I pay my payments on time every month because I have automatic payments.  I receive a statement from BoA every month and nothing on it says I have anything overdue!

I have received calls from this number in Orange County California, where I lived for over 25 years.  I currently live in New Mexico for 7 years, and I have no account with B of A.  I have no outstanding debts that anyone needs to call me about either.  What gives?

It may be BofA - or not.  I haven't had an account with them in over 15 years and don't owe them any money so they can't be trying to help me out by paying money on a card I don't have.  BofA also keeps sending me email messages regarding my credit card (which was closed over 15 years ago).

Ask me if I trust BofA?  Why do you think I stopped doing business with them?  They were bad then and are worse nos.

These people call and you can't even understand them. I think they have outsourced to India or something. Maybe they would get better responses from people if they could communicate properly.

They aren't calling about a debt. They want permission to add debt to your credit card. They are not a collection agency but a credit card insurance company. They want to give you a "free" month of insurance, but you have to give them permission to charge your card for it. Say they are part of the BoA, but I don't think they are. The bank itself has never tryed to sell me this and I am in there all the time. There is also an offers section to your on line account and this isn't on it.

Wow, it takes a special righteous personality to write like this and make these kinds of calls.  Get a phone with a DO NOT DISTURB button and CALLER ID.  The ringer won't ring, but the caller ID will tell you if it's a friend.  If the caller doesn't have your same ara code, it's not a friend.

credit card debt takes two. The bank took a gamble that the person would be able to pay back the debt. with big companies going bankrupt like CompUSA and now Circuit City. how is a little guy expected to survive. The credit card company took a gamble and should write off any debt not collectable due to layoffs or other events of the like. Just like Vegas if you gamble it is your loss. Also note if the companies cared about customers they would sponcer debt manage classes for their customers. people like Dave Ramsey are doing great work in freeing people from debt.

HELP with debt, NOT always, as they can be rude, and VERY arrogant and inconsiderate, rather than finding out if they have legitimate numbers of people that owe them money, they could care less about the collection laws, and go beyond legitimate collection efforts, and are harrassing in nature!!

This # keeps calling me and i have no clue of the person they are looking for. And i don't even own a credit card so it's not about me dodging a bill. I also wrk in collections and if you tell the company they have the wrong # and you dont know the person by law they have to stop calling. So BOA needs to get it together

Give me a break, please!!! I am glad to see that the current economic situation has not affected you at all.  If these idiots in NY and DC had done their just prudence we wouldn't be in this situation and i wouldn't be in my situation.  If you don't have the money to pay, it doesn't matter how many times they call or how many times they send letters.  what is it about you people who don't understand that when someone says they don't have the money they don't especially someone who has never missed a payment until the recent situation occurred.

Yeah, I agree with the others.  I don't even have a BOA card.  Every morning like clock work they call.  I've given up trying to be nice.  I just don't answer.  And that letter you refer to after 3 failed attempts...never seen it.

Scott, the complaint is that these calls have nothing to do with a legitimate debt of the receiver of these calls.  I, too, just started receiving these repetitive calls asking for someone who has never lived with me or at this address!  These calls are received from 7:45 a.m. EDT to 7:00 p.m., on some days sseveral within one hour.  The callers disregard the information that who they are asking for does not live here!  The people do not identify themselves as a business.  I would think that BOA would at least state that they are card services for BOA!  If a letter is sent after three telephone attempts, a letter to this address is long overdue!  So, either my telephone number is erroneously in BOA's system and BOA could not careless about verification, or the caller is not legitimate.

Debt Collector
"IT IS NOT A FRAUDULENT NUMBER" THEY ARE CARD SERVICES WHICH IS RESPECTIVELY UNDER BANK OF AMERICA THE NUMBER IS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SO IF YOU CALCULATE YOUR TIMES RIGHT THEY ARE THERE UNTIL NINE AT NIGHT WHICH FOR EASTERN TIME IS 12 MIDNIGHT. BY LAW THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISCLOSE BANKING INFORMATION UNTIL THE RIGHT PERSON IS IDENTIFIED WHICH IS TO PROTECT THE CUSTOMER. SO IN OTHER WORDS ANY CREDIT CARD COMPANY WILL SAY CARD SERVICES SO THAT THEY WONT DISCLOSE INFORMATION TO THE WRONG PERSON. IF YOU WANT A LETTER ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS NOT ANSWER AND THEY WILL SEND YOU A LETTER AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS OF CALLING AND THE PERSON NOT ANSWERING AND THE LETTER WILL BE IN A WHITE ENVELOPE WHICH SAYS CARD SERVICES FROM WILMINGTON DELAWARE WHICH IS WHERE BOA HEADQUARTERS ARE AT. SO PAY YOUR BILLS PEOPLE AND GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. ITS NOT FRAUD THEY ARE REAL PEOPLE WHO DONT WANT ANYTHING MORE THEN TO HELP YOU WITH THE DEBT YOU PUT YOURSELF IN.

The person called much too late at night to be legitimate and gave me an 800 number to call back which was available until 12 midnight. If they are really Bank of America, they would send a letter also!

Supposedly, these people are calling from "card services" dept. of Bank of America. However, after many phone calls from them after many months for someone who does not live here or ever lived here to my knowledge, and repeated requests for them to take me off of their list, they still continue to call. My husband referred this number to the BoA fraudlent calls dept. to no avail. On caller i.d. it says "California" and when I answer, all they says is "(NAME)? Are you there, this is (fake name) from card services." They don't even mention BoA. I only discovered they listed as BoA after doing a reverse number search on whitepages.com.
