The game is the same but the name has been changed, I sent back and told him cash or paypal this is now sent to aol as scam***********************************************************************************

well the same thing happend to me i got the check and tryed chashing it today and the check did not cash they did research and and called pepole and they did not cash it for me but my check was for 2000 try it it might work for you and what can it hurt uoy wont get in trouble and it wount hurt anyone

The scammer by a different name contacted me yesterday about another item I had listed so this initial contact raised red flags right away.

This just happened to me today. The name he used was Michael Marlone and claimed that he wanted my posting as a gift for his son. Blocked my number and called the number that he listed, no voicemail. I suggested I meet him for an exchange since I was nervous about giving out my info. He declined and asked again for my info. I was suspicious and googled his name and number and found this posting. I promptly replied to Mr.Marlone stating that I needed a cash only sale from him since I understood that his secretary was quite incompetent at writing checks for the proper amount :) Needless to say he hasn't responded.

I also received the same message from Michael Merlone. He did sent me a check (at least I think it's a check...I got it from UPS but I have not opened it). The return address is from: Autumn Bearden in Trussville AL.

So is this a legit check that he is sending out? What would happen if I took it to a Currency Exchange and cashed it and kept the money? Would it work?This would avoid the risk of this being run through my bank account.

The only risk is that I would be stealing money from shady people who have my home address...yikes!

As with most of the postings here, I received the same message, word for word, concerning a posting that I had on Craigs List. The name he gave was Micheal Moleno. I Googled the number 714-872-9256, by suggestion of my daughter, and found all of you.

I received the identical message from "Dave Stewart" and immediately sensed a scam attempt.  I responded back with cash only terms and still received attempts to cash his check.  I had already reported this scammer on the FTC website - there is a link on Craigslist to do so.  
Hopefully, most people are too smart to fall for this.

The thing is that he will be sending the check over the amount you are asking for, he will tell you that his secretary made a mistake and ask you to send back the rest after you cash it. There will be no mover this is the scam.

I got same inquiry from this same scammer yesterday. The 1st seem legit but when i received the 2nd email last night, whooa! He has lots of time to tell his storytale!  I did not respond. I just copied and past few words of his sentence and googled it - caught it right away. This is a group not just 1 person.

Someone tell me what's wrong with this idea - other than the obvious.  I send the guy my address and name, he sends me the payment,  I tell him I deposited it, he sends his guy to make the pickup, I kick the living XXXX out of the pickup guy.

Has anyone ever actually recieved the cashiers check and let it sit in the bamk to see if any funds would clear?
