I had Requested a Validation from Acme Credit and they sent me a letter stating the debt that I had from 2006 has being forwarded to Katz Law Office for collection and have likely added Attorney fees. the only thing I don't understand why wasent I provided with mailing Address or Email. just the same number XXX-XXX-6885.

I just figured I would look up some info because I received a call from this guy.  I did not have any type of negative experience.  I had debt with one of the law firm's clients.  I spoke to Paul Anthony, & he helped me resolve it.  He was very professional & reasonable.  It was my debt I had received letters on it but never had the money to pay it.  I finally got a good job and now I have been taking care of these things.  It felt good to get another monkey off my back.  You know I used to get so upset about this stuff when I had no money & couldn't pay.  Now I just figure out a way to right my wrongs.  You know it isn't anyones fault but my own that I have these problems.  I think that was the most difficult thing to admitt to my self.  I figured I should share my experience also because it was far from negative.  Any way I hope all of you folks can find a way to be true to your selves & take care of issues you have.

I have gotten a call from Mr Paul Anthony also.  I DO believe he IS a scam, and YES, I AM covering my paper trail as we speak.  That is of course how I came across the BS going on on this board.  I WILL return to let you all know what I have found out, but so far(I have only begun my long journey of internet/phone research) the only CRAP I have found out is that a few of us on here don't care, you are only here to B*tch about everything else(yes clint sweetheart, that would be you.).  I am ready to admit I have absolutly no money, yes, I DO have a debt out there.  My debt adds up to no more than $300 that this idiot is contacting me about, but yet NOW he has done his own adding and it is now over $1300.  So yes, I WILL investigate for myself.  I have already contacted the debtor, they even say this is an unreasonable amount of money stemming from $300!!  Not everyone on this board is crazy my dear.  But I will return if we are all wrong, because unlike you Clint, I am still a woman, but I must still have a pair if I can admit I was wrong.

I just got a call from this and he is total smac-artist and is also a real a**hole and makes you feel like s**t. I do not know how he got my phone number but he knew my address and everything. So it is scary. If you get a call from him do not give him any information!

Just thought I would defend the people that you are putting down.  I also called this so called "attorney".  And for your information he isn't an attorney, he isn't licensed.  My father is a Federal Judge, and he also checked into this.  So before you put people down, check your facts.  

He looks up people's credit reports illegally then contacts them about items reported on it.  So even if they have paid it, and it hasn’t been reported to the credit agency, or if the contact info is wrong on the credit report, he wouldn't know until he contacts them.  So the chances that these people really didn't owe any money to him could be correct.

And to let you know, this is a collection agency, NOT an attorney.  It is not legal in any form for a collection agency to represent themselves as attorneys. They are also not allowed to threaten anyone, they can and have been closed down for such actions.

OR do you owe money to his firm or one of their clients?  

Because I owed money to one of that firm's clients.  Which I have paid in full my credit report was updated & I spoke to Mr. Anthony.  & btw he was very helpful.  He got an extension for me which gave me the ability to pay my debt.

So I am assuming that Carol is just another dead beat screw up that gets mad when she actually has to pay for something that has already been provided to her.  People like you are the reason why people in this country can never back to the way people should act.

Hi...I have a similar situation...but my bad check was either lost or stolen at the time and I stopped payment on it.  He is now saying I am liable for almost $300.00 and the check was illegally witten.  He told me I had a responsibility to file a police report within 30 days.  I did not know this...is this a law?  I wasn't sure if I misplaced it or it was stolen...I had a sneaking suspission it was stolen so I stopped it.  Is there really nothing I can do now?  I want to be able to write checks again without being embarrassed.  I am a mother of 2 and have a good job in a small town and I feel like I am the criminal.

I too received a call from "atty." Paul Anthony with the Katz law firm on Friday May 2, 2008 demanding payment of close to $800.00.  I have tried to work with the creditor and they now tell me that my account has been turned over to an attorney and they can no longer help me.  $575.00 of the amount owed is for attorney fees.  I am also an Illinois resident and he is in New York. I was told that payment was due by 5:00 that day.  He told me to get a hold of my husband to figure out how I was going to pay the full balance or he was going to turn this matter over to the states attorneys office for prosecution and he could do so by law. Payments were not an option.  My husband called back before 5:00 and he did not give an address to mail a payment to but wanted a money gram express payment on Wednesday May 7, 2008.

You said that you are an attorney and that this guy was closed down however he is obviously back to the same strong arm tactics.  I was preparing a complaint form for the Illinois attorney general and looked up the name of the attorney and the Katz law firm to get an address and found this forum in the process.  I have called the creditor to tell them that I will be happy to pay the original balance of 197.00 but that I do not feel comfortable sending this man almost $800.00 because of what I have read today.  Do you have any advise?

Clint I just wondered do you actually read details before you start spouting off.I can't believe you hammered a guys parenting skills.You implied that his daughter is some deadbeat s**t that sleeps around and does'nt pay her bills.If you look closer you'll see that it says it was his daughter in law which I take it to mean that she is married to his son and this married couple is going to have a baby and she has someone trying to pull a scam on her. Ok, I came on this board to check out this number after receiving a call from this number.  I did call him back and while he is on the "rough" side a little bit I did write a bad check and that was what the call was in regards too.  I had my dad who works for the county police dept. check into this first.  He does work for a law firm and it is all legit.  For some reason I did not receive the collection notices prior to this law firm obtaining the debt but regardless it was a valid debt.

OK, you live in your world and I'll live in mine.  You contact the Peoria, IL States Attorney's office and ask if any reports were made on this.  Then you will see that Yes, this DID happen, and no there is NO altered edition...  I only wish that you could come here and defend me, especially if you had all the WRITTEN facts.  (which by the way ... if you ask him for the written proof, his exact words are "Are word, is the assurance that things will be dealt with!)

I owe NOTHING... you believe what you want... but for someone who hasn't had a "bussiness" relationship with this person, you are defending him a little much... AND HE has EVERY right to come on this and defend himself.  NO ONE  is stopping him.  (you've talked to him before... call him... talk to him... have him give his imput... we would all love to hear it!!)

I ALSO, called this number... if he is such a BIG Valid company, why does HE answer all the calls (even you implied that), make all the calls, and never give DIRECT Answers!!!!  In fact, when I called back, he stated that I had to pay over $1850.00 for bad checks, which I never wrote (I've NEVER written a check, I only use debit cards directly from my bank),  OR I had to appear in court on April 23rd at 9am (AND THAT IS 2008) to plea my case...  I live in Ill.; he is in New York.... But he said he would see me in court... I called the County Court House, (which he did say by name) and they had NO documentation of anything in regards to me...  And THEY directed me to the States Attorney's Office to report this.....  

YOU CHECK YOUR FACTS... AND ADMIT YOU DON'T KNOW ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Maybe is has a "few" legit items to deal with (such as whatever reason you got involved!!!), but he isn't an honest person, and not everything he does it LEGIT, LEGAL or HONEST!!!
