Got a call.  Nothing said on the other end.  Hung up after about 20 seconds.

These morons have been calling me everyday for a month. They are as dumb as mud. I am on the do-not-call list. They called today (Sunday) and I asked the pin head how much money she wanted.

She sounded flustered and said "M'amm we are calling for the police association.."

I cut her off and said I wanted her home address and phone number and I would bring over $5,000 in cash for her "organization."

She was speechless.

I told her I had all day to wait on the line until she gave me her home phone and address so I could give her the $5,000 cash in person - then I said I was going to get the police involved.

She hung up.

I'll get a call from them again tomorrow. Guaranteed.

I then called my Sheriff in the county I lived and registered a complaint against "716-492-8804" for harrassing phone calls. A "deputy" told me some police departments in NY do hire telemarketers to get donations. He took my complaint and told me to contact the NY Attorney General's office.

Sounds like he wasn't too interested in shutting down this scam.

Go figure.

I am going to record the next phone call from the droolers and send it to the NYS Attorney General's office to be promptly ignored.

I got a call from this number at 9pm.  I refuse to answer a call if I dont know who it is from (at least not until I check this website first!).  No message, no anything.
I am on the DO NOT CALL list, and after reading the above, I will definately be answering if they call again.  And tell them to leave me alone...its a work night and I am getting ready for the next day at 9pm.
Heck, even my friends dont call this late!

i received a call from this number 3 times and when i just called it back it said to call a customer service number ( i didn't write it down) and they would be able to assist me from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and then it hung up,. They have my name and i have a private phone number.

Just got a call from these people. They refused to identify themselves, saying it was a courtesy call. When asked what the courtesy call was for, they asked for my name again, which I had denied several times already. He then said he'd try back later.

I get calls from this number almost nightly.  When I do answer which is rare they say nothing.  It's hard to believe this is connected with some sort of Chiefs of Police organization which is what a recording said when I called the #.  I'd like them to stop calling.  I resent these calls and something should be done about it.

This number is not familiar.  I do not k now anyone in that area code

Received a call from them with no message left.  Redialed the number and reached an automated message that it was from the NY Association of Police Chiefs, and that they would be calling back soon.  I have gleaned from other sites that they are NOT truly with the police, but a scammer.  I am on the Do Not Call list, but since they are/are pretending to be a charity, it's probably not forbidden for them to call.  However, I believe it IS forbidden to portray oneself as a Police official.  I am awaiting their return call to get more information about them.

just got a call from that number, nothing said just panting.

This guy just called my home office on 716-492-8801.  Probably has several lines he is using.  Same scam, asked for me by name didn't tell him It was me and asked to take a message.  He said he'd call back.  Watch out for this number also.  I posted that number in this site also.  The most disturbing part is that they asked for me by my first name as if I knew them.  If they call again I will call the local police in Arcade NY.  I am in NJ if they are looking for donations why across state lines.

second phone call from this number/person claiming to be from a policeman's association. was very hostile. who do you report these call's to?

Got a call from this number last night. No different than any of your stories. Incredible that someone can be running a scam for well over a year impersonating a POLICE OFFICER and yet the real police do nothing about it. This guy is a real low life, but why have there been no legal repercussions as of yet? This guy is breaking multiple laws.

I just got a call which flashed on my screen that showed it came from Arcade NY & the number was (716) 492-8804. the guy on the phone asked for a family member by name & when I asked what it was in reference to, he said "don't worry about it" & hung up. I immediately knew it was a scam. so I am going to call their local police department & let them deal with it. hopefully the cops there will catch this guy.

The call appeared on my caller ID while I was talking with someone else; I didn't go to the call.  "Arcade" appeared in my caller ID.

Just got a call from this number... asking if so or so where there. I said "no, who's asking?" ... person replied with name and hung up.

just got a call from 719-492-8804; caller ID said 'arcade'.  Wanted to speak to my husband; called him by his first name.  I asked to take a message; he said no thanks.  When I asked who he was, hung up.  Based on other ppl; someone else looking for money.  Well, if he finds it, send me some :-)

I got his call..answering machine picked up ..left no message. They called back today but i have a panasonic phone (best investment ever) that i  am able to block numbers i dont want. I blocked him yesterday so when he called today , my phone hangs up right away (my phone rings once then automatic disconnect..well he called back 5 times even with being disconnected..feisty little bugger..a normal solicitor normally doesnt call back the same day. I love technology!

strange I just got a call from this number and they asked for my mother but didn't say why. When I asked who this was she said Jackie and then hung up.

Got a call from some woman from this number named "Danielle" She asked for me by name requesting money for the cheif of police of NYS. I asked for her to repeat what she said but just mumbled something. I told her "This is a bogus call" and hung up. I called 311 but they didnt help.

who is this?

I actually just got another call.  They called two days ago.   After reading these posts, I called the local detective squad and told them about these creeps attempts to collect money *for* the police.  Apparently, these calls are not a crime (they should be) and there is nothing they can do about them.

By the way, this scam is at least ten years old.  I remember getting one of these calls at work prior to retiring ten years ago.  My boss gave them hell and hung up. It's older than the telegraph key, folks.

Got this call then dead air.

This call ID as Arcade.  The caller asked for my husband by name, when I said he wasn't in and did he want to leave a message, he said it wasn't important and would call back later.  This is not the first time he has called I just wasn't home to answer the other times.

Jerk just called here 15 minutes ago. I hope someone finds him and shuts him down for good. I knew there was a reason I hated Verizon...according to some previous reports that is part of the problem!
