I received a VM message today (02/11/08) from this number and a woman named Jocelyn said she was from card services and needed to urgently speak with someone named William Cullen (I do not know a William Cullen).  She asked me to call her back at 866-527-3127 x7047.  I will not call her back, since I know it must be a scam.

Someone called me from this number and asking for me and when i asked who was calling, they said "Michael from Bank of America, do you know John Smith?" I said I do not and he said "Oh are you sure? Because I have a feeling you know John Smith and you can tell me how to contact him." I continued to say I didn't and he kept harassing me until I hung up on him. I filed a complaint with Bank of America and if you don't want this number to keep harassing you, I suggest calling Bank of America and filing a complaint because what this person is doing is illegal and lying, and I'm sure Bank of America will be pissed if they found out someone is fraudulantly using their name.

"Walker somebody" called my parents' house looking for my husband. We have never had any sort of relationship with BOA, MBNA, or any subsidiary. We do not carry debt on credit cards. There are MUCH more obvious places to look for my husband. We are not in hiding, and the Post Office seems to figure out where we are.

My guess- they are calling using the BOA name (bigger bank, bigger chance they get someone with an account...) and phishing your info. If you just happen to have debt with BOA, they will give you a harder time.

this is bank of america collection dept. they go by F.I.A card services bc bank of america also handles other credit cards like suntrust, m&t bank, and many more. Bank of america also merged with MBNA so they handle former MBNA credit cards. They answer the phone "card services" so they do not break transparency. if they are calling for your sister inlaw, that means your sister inlaw is past due on her credit card. the collector is "skiptracing" -calling friends, family AND NEIGHBORS to try to get a message to the debor to call the office.

yeah, if you screen you calls and act like a moron when someon calls you, dont be suprised if they think you are the person who owes them money and are just trying to hide.  If they call you and its a wrong number, just be polite and tell them, dont just hang up without a word or yell,  and I guarantee you wont get any more calls. please be considerate, the representatives calling you probably dont know its a wrong number..  and if it is the right numnber, PAY YOUR BILLS!

Um... the people complaining are not the people that the bill collectors are looking for.

This number just called and since I did not recognize it, I sent it to voicemail.  Instead of leaving a message, they IMMEDIATELY called back again.  They did not leave a message the second time, either.  If it WAS a legitimate credit card company, they would have left a message.

This number appeared on the caller ID of one of my old phone numbers.  Keep in mind that this phone number has never been listed on the account I have with Bank of America.  The person who now has that phone number said it called before and asked questions about me and told them about my business with my Bank of America card.  That's a violation of the privacy act.  They are only supposed to use the numbers on the account and definantly aren't supposed to discuss the account with anyone but the account holder.  The person gave me the number to call and see what's going on.  When I dial this number back I get card services we are sorry we missed your call.  Please leave a message, you full account number, and phone number and we'll get back to you.  Then it says the person you are calling's mailbox is full.

i just got a call from this number and its not the first one i have gotten - i actually just talked to BOA on friday (02/08/08) and we left it to where they were going to wait for me (mon or tues, payment isn't due tillend of feb) to call because i had to take care of some things - and they were great - a few weeks back i got a call from a "716" area code claiming to be BOA and the first thing he asked for was my social....i said 'give me yours and ill give you mine' to which he responded 'well, i pay my credit cards at least mine is good' - now i found that absolutally outrageous from someone claiming to be BOA - i lost my house, my job, everything i help dear - and ive had years of perfect payment - so i will not call this number back - what i am going to do is to call the gentleman wtih whom i have been speaking with at BOA and see if he needs any further information from me - his callback number was 866-527-3127 x 7418

You see the 716 number because its a number going through a corporation, that means the number goes through an exchange.  the 866 nmbr left by these people is a toll free number, and a direct extension to an associate so you don't have to be transferred or put on hold for 50 minutes.

The name of the department is Card Services. It is not a third party collection agency.  Best to work with these people, dropped my payments and my interest rate (alot).

I got a call on my cell phone from this number but didn't answer it, and they didn't leave a message either. My cell phone is under my mom's name, and I haven't been giving it to the debt collectors. I have no clue what they were calling "my mom" for.... guess I'm in trouble.

They called and left a message stating they had been trying to reach me for quite some time they just haven't been able to put their finger on the whole situation, they went on to say they would love to work with me but they need me 'to be calling' so that they could do so, and if i could make that call it would be a vital piece to help me and get some things going in my direction- they left a return # of 866.516.8303 x7792- the message didn't really make any sense which was what made me think it was a scam of some sort-

Debt Collector
Came home to answering machine message from 1-716-651-3170
Hard to hear caller, as though from oversees or maybe cell phone.
He asked for my mother in law (who used to have this phone #)
referencing a "neighbor" that she never had.
I called her to make sure.
She thought it sounded like a scam and said she knows no one by this name.
I tried to get the call back # from the message, it was stated in a weird order and not sure i got it right, when I called it, I got a modem.
Here's how the number was stated:
866-51-16-303...that's how he said it. Call cut off as soon as number was given.
After not reaching anything at that number, I called the caller ID# at about 9:30 pm and this is the message I got:

Thank you for calling card services.
We are unable to take your call at this time.
Please leave your name, phone number, and account number...

Are you kidding? Leave your account# on an answering machine as well as your name & phone #...why not hand my bank info to you while I'm at it?!
this sounds very fishy...

Anyone receiving calls from 716-651-3170 ask the "true identity"; it may be a debt-collector and may not necessarily be Bank of America. Note: there is an apostrophe between "BANK" and "OF"; i.e. "BANK,OF AMERICA" The phone number is 716-651-3170.

PLEASE POST THE NAME OF THE COLLECTION AGENCY.
