Telemarketer
******SCAMMERS*********I have been getting these calls for over a month now. "They" have many numbers that show up on your phone, they use ISDN PRI & Digital Trunks, go to www.level3.com , go to products and services, then click Enterprise voice, scroll down to TDM then choose ISDN PRI & Digital Trunks, it will explain how the phone system works. These people can not be tracked down, they go by many names. I"ve looked for them for a while now. One thing I have done that helps with my anger. When they call I go right along with their complete pitch, really acting like I'm very intrested, as they get around the asking for a credit card number I start asking them questions like have you ever been, what was it like, and so on. When we finally get back to the money part. My CC# here it is: I JUST WASTED YOUR TIME, HOW DOES IT FEEL. Most of the time you will get a good laugh from what come out of your phone, these people get pi**ed. Every once in a while they just hang up. They can't come after me or anything ,so I waste as much of their time as possible and they are not making a penny while on the phone with me. I have the satisfaction of knowing I still get paid when I go to work. Since I started doing this about 2 weeks ago, the calls are less often. P.S., if you do find any good comments on line about them. They have employees that post for them.

Similar, just today I received a call from it claiming I had won a draw in the Taboo : Naughty but Nice Sex Show i recently attended. It claims to feature a fancy cruise from a company named Imperial Majesty (company's legitimate real, just dunno if the call is as well). She claims her name is Sandra Edwards, and gave a toll free number if I want further info. [1-800-203-9783], but apparently it will only work after I give the credit card info.

Just got a call from this number...told me it was from vacationmoments.com Went to the webiste and they gave me the standard information.  I work in a call centre and have taken a couple course in social engineering and fraudent call setups.  This was text book.  They lead with the expiry date of a credit card, then name and then ask for the card number all in a smooth manner.  I asked them if i could call them back as I have a member on the board of the Beer festival I signed up at.  I asked them to send the information via email/mail and they couldnt They told me that I have only once chance to take advantage of this.  I told the rep that I have a friend on the board of the festival and wanted to investigate before commiting.  This took the wind out of the sales and it ended the call on a sour note.

I got a call on my cell phone, twice in one day, I was at work so I didn't answer, I was out later on that day and I got another call from the same number, I answered and I didn't think of it as someone mispronouncing my name but asking for Kiely. I told them that Kiely wasn't at this number. Thought this was the end. I got home and checked my home phone and the same number was on my caller ID at home. Today I just check my cell phone and the number called.

We keep getting call to our business from this number.  I never answer because we don't know it and don't even recognize the area code.
Today I answered and woman with a thick accent asked for my husband by his first name.  She refused to leave a message.  I hung up and called back and got a fax sound.

DO NOT TRUST THESE TELECOMMERS THEY ARE A SCAM!!!! THEY PUT OUT THEIR DRAWS AT FESTIVE GATHERINGS AND CALL YOU BACK TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU WON AN 8 DAY CRUISE IN THE BAHAMAS AND YOU ALSO GET TO STAY IN FLORIDA. UNFORTUNATELY, YOU DIDN'T AND THEY ARE CALLING EVERYONE FROM THE DRAW BOX. TRYING TO CONN SOMEONE IN TO GIVING THEM THEIR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. DON'T DO IT. IN FACT, HANG UP RIGHT AFTER THEY GIVE YOU THEIR SHPEEL AND DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER FOR THE $299 TO CONFIRM YOUR FLIGHT. THE SUSPICIOUS PART IS THAT THEY KNOW HOW MANY CREDIT CARDS YOU OWN, AND SO THEY ASK WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH TO USE.

I went to a bridal show with a friend on the weekend.  We filled out numerous ballots for prizes at the different vendor booths.  I had a call today from a company telling me that I had won the free trip from the bridal show.  I asked questions and she said she wanted to tell me more, but when my fiance could be on the phone with me.  So i told her to call back later.  I went on the net and googled the phone # and this came up...thank god!!!  SO when they called lateron...i gave them an ear full...turns out they call EVERYONE that fills out a ballot and tell them they win...then want ur credit card # and charge u all this extra money...huge scam.  When i asked the lady on the phone why both my friend and I got chosen 'randomly'  she told me that they pick certain people....and she was stuttering and then said they pick people who they think will keep the cruise ship nice...hahahaa!!!!  what a joke.

SCAM... read on...

They called, never left a msg.
They called again.. i answered ...

I won a trip to the bahamas....
They wanted my credit card...
I told them i dont give that over the phone and was concerned about getting scammed as it has happened to me in the past.

They transferred my call to their manager.
Who ensured It was safe and was going to charge me 299 for both ppl.
When I said my credit limit wasn't the total of both tickets.. they were going to charge me for only one ticket.
I asked if they could call back.
They said no...
They gave me a customers service number (1800-203-9783) which I looked up online and found validity that this was a scam.
So I told buddy I was at school and didnt have my credit card on me.. and he said he would call back when I got home. ( even tho they said they cant call back)...

Its totally fake.. don't get suckered in...

When I googled the number shown on my caller id.. i got this site.

Ps.. they wanted to put me on hold, but i could hear everything they were talking about in the back ground, which seemed sketch and unprofessional. They were really pushy and tried very hard to convince me it was legit.

Hey All,

did the same as you all: entered a form for a vacation and OH MY GOD I WON. Amazing. It's TOTALLY free, EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED...you just need to pay Anita $299 via credit card.

Oh, and when I asked her if she was retarded for thinking that I would stupid enough to give her my credit card her response was that, "oh, no, that is not OUR company. We have sent a letter to all media outlets (whatever that means) to clear our company's reputation."

I was just called (at work on my cell phone) and kept him on the phone for about a half hour trying to get them to explain how they were a legitimate company. In the end they couldn't do it.

I entered at the Manitoba Comic Con - I'm involved in the event and I'd like to know why we allowed these people to appear. It's disappointing that we allowed them.

The best thing you can do is first speak to the manager, then keep them on the phone as long as possible - they'll give up after they realize they've either spent more in employees than they'll scam from you. After all, long distance is expensive and the employees probably work on commission.

Research indicates that the cruises do indeed exist, but they're filthy and entirely not worth the money, AND they have hidden charges.

In short: scammers.

They have been calling my cell phone a couple times a day for the past few days.  I do not answer strange numbers that call my cell phone. I attempted to call them back on my cell.  The first time, the phone call did not connect and the second time, it went to a fax machine.  I hope they stop calling soon.

it's a scam... it's also run out of this number: 347-448-8892.. they tell you you won a cruise/vacation in the bahamas or whatever for only $299, or up to $598.. there's no answer or voice mail on call back, and they can't answer any basic questions. they also insist you give your credit card number over the phone to "secure the tickets".. IT'S A SCAM!

I got a call from this phone number and didn't answer. About a week ago went to  bridal show in Toronto and filled out couple of ballots. Somebody also called from a privat phone number and asked for my fiancee and I think that was the same kind of scam. How come the official events orgaanizers let it happen. You have to pay for the entrance and then you can become a victim of the nasty scam and pay again...

If you take a few minutes to search on the Net about this topic, you can quickly realize that the Credit Card scam related to gifts and/or low interest rate offers has been going on since at least, 2003. I've read enough on this subject to come to the conclusion that these call centers (wherever they are located in the world) operate without any fear of being caught. They cause hundred of thousand dollars losses daily to the credit card companies and guess what? The credit card companies pass their losses to the users who are…you and me. As of today, these pirate call centers are still operating in full force across North America. They have found the loophole for escaping from FBI and RCMP. The typical “model citizen” usually reports the fraud to the attorney or local police. I have news for you. You can file as many complains as you want to the authorities, they just can’t catch them! You can threaten of reporting their annoying calls to the phone companies, you can swear, being rude, vulgar with them – They are the ones controlling the game. They just hang up (laughing) until they receive a call from the next gullible person (and the wheel keeps turning). Whatever you do or say, you won’t be taken off their automated calling list. The heads of these scam acts like a computer virus. They are very much up to date with the changing law enforcement techniques and like a moving target, they disappear in the field.  You can find numerous blogs and discussion forums related to this scam (this one is one of them). For every thread on the Net that exposes their illegal activities, they have members posting a message denying complains of people who got ripped off. They introduce contradicting information in blogs in order to confuse people who are unsure about the legitimacy of their offers. They have fake web sites, fake names, fake addresses, etc. Based on these facts, I think the only thing that can be done is to interfere with their practices. How can this be done? By “putting a stick in their wheel", hitting the weakest spot – their need to grab personal information from you. I’ve been practicing for quite a few times now and you’d be impressed by how patient they become when they feel that they have you as a fish on their hook. Again, the only power you have over them is to spend as much time as you can to waste THEIR time. This time you spend with them is time that they can’t use for screwing other people. I've learned a lot from reading in threads on the Net. Here is what I started doing: the principle is to play the game of being interested by their offer, providing fake information, pretending, acting, and creating delays. I hear you say that you don’t know how to reach them because whenever they call you because your call I.D. shows: 123-456-7890 (or any other spoofed phone i.d.). Didn’t I tell you they were smart? Here are a few numbers that still work as of today: 1 800-501-0100 (to reach the vacation trip scam) | 1 888-786-6201 or 1 800 943-3250 or 1 800-961-9830 (to reach the MCS credit card interest rate scam). If you need more numbers you can with a little effort “google” the name of the organization along with <1-800> in the search field and it should pull more numbers to call to. Finally, here is my recipe for a great "obstruction" session upon these scammers: 1) take a hands free phone (portable is even better as you can still conduct you home activities) 2) get them to go through their entire sales pitch by encouraging and acknowledging every once in a while 3) make it last as long as your time permits (they are the one assuming the charges of the “1-800” communication). 4) When you feel that they suspect your “game” (or when you’re bored whichever comes first), find a nice and polite way to tell them that they've just wasted 15-20 minutes (sometimes more) of their precious time stealing other gullible people. I guarantee you that you will get some reaction at the other end of the line. Give them a ride and flood their phone lines! Make their life as miserable as they do to us. HEARING THEIR FRUSTRATION IS A GREAT REWARD AND PURE PLEASURE. Don’t be intimidated if they threaten you of anything, they are totally harmless.
