Same thing has happened to me.  As soon as I said I don't have a credit card, they hung up on me.  They have called my cell phone as well and where they got the number, I have no idea.  They and others are on my "do not call" list, but they continue to call.  Does anyone know how to get rid of these people.  They are very rude for hanging up on people that don't own credit cards.

I got a call and the woman she's representing the company "account assistance". I genuinely think it's a bogus name. She asked if I have a credit card of $3K or more. I said "yes", then she asked how much I owe. I declined to answer - since I don't know her. She hung up. Just pass this up to some nosy broad who was fishing for any info.

Telemarketer
Called around 8:00 pm, caller id "card services", press 1 to hear music and someone claiming to be in Orlando, FL, asks of I have more than 3K in cc debt, with interest rates over 11%, in good standing, have not missed any pmts or been late with any pmts, then they need to verify that information, that is when I tell them I am at a friends hose and don't have any cards with me... they seem skeptical but advise they will try back at a later time.  Can't wait to talk to someone again.  I have a speaker phone and assemble parts for machines here, I can keep working while they ask questions, helps to break up the day,  Unless there is a really great song on the radio, I love to string them along as far as I can... I'm trying to find id info for someone who would actually qualify, I'd like to set up a fake account... more later.

They called yesterday at 12:59 PM and left a partial message on the answering machine about lowering interest rates.  Again.  Well, the whole FCC thing lasted about a month on my phone.

Here's an idea.  Let's make the telecom companies responsible for the phone numbers, spoofed or not, that these scammers are using.  Let's say Verizon owns 718-416-6103.  Fine them a million dollars for letting a scammer use their number.  That would shut all of this down pretty quickly.

See comment posted on Nov. 10, 2012 ..... same call again from this number !
Posters, please understand that the "do not call" list is exactly what the name says ... a LIST ... not a magic wand that prevents calls from connecting to your number.  Legitimate telemarketers use and abide by the rules.  Unfortunately for us, these robo callers are not legitimate companies and they are not telemarketers ... they are scammers 'phishing' for your personal info, and enjoying the profits.  Keep sending reports to FTC & FCC

They just called here also. The caller ID said CARD SERVICES. I had blocked their other number that they called me prior 786-358-9799 and 786-358-5551 so now then are using this "new" number. They left a recording saying something about a stimulus opportunity. I also blocked this number so I will wait to see how long before they use another number to annoy me again.

Just received a call from this number 5 minutes ago.  Message said "last chance" to "lower interest rates" on "credit card debt" under the "stimulus plan."  I don't usually do this with these calls, but I was curious, so I clickd 1 to speak to somebody. Somebody got on the line, thanked me for "clicking 1."  I asked, "What company is this?"  The man's response "I don't know."  I said, "You don't know what company you represent?" He replied "No, I don't know."  I said, you call again from this number, I'll do an investigation and sue you for every call received.  Next think I hear is "click."  He hung up, big surprise, huh?  I know this is being investigated, so I'll file a complaint to support the investigation.  Just so you all know, when you receive a call from this number, just let it go.  It's a fraud.

I filed this as a "telemarketer call" because essentially that's what it is, but I would file this under "alleged fraud" if that were a category.

Yep, I got the same number calling me too. If its not this one, its Rachel or Lori, or Angela from Credit Card Services.  I got my Grandfather's old whistle by the phone, when they call, I dial to get connected and blow that sucker as loud as I can and tell them to get the message. They are not wanted.

This is ridiculous.

I was put on their do not call list many times, they keep calling. The FCC has many complaints about these people from many people and they still do nothing. Also, when you are polite to them, they hang up when you tell them that you do not have credit cards or you do not want their service. They then keep calling you back. I am now so rude to them when they call and when I return their call, I get a voice mail and I tell them off and tell them if they do not like my attitude, so what, this is what it will be like everytime they call me and I will fill their voicemail up with me being rude telling them I am on their do not call list and stop calling, but in a very vulgar way

Dum De Dum Dum...I blocked them, but they have a multitude of numbers they call from...Warning: They already have your number programmed in as a 'good' number to call, and they will simply call you from another number..usually in about two days. This is the TWENTIETH number of theirs that I have blocked. They will simply call from another number...they never give up...but neither do I!

I just got a call from these people - they'd called before and I'd hung up, but I do have credit card debt and would love to get a lower interest rate!  So, I started asking questions...the guy put me on with a supervisor because he couldn't answer them and I wouldn't give my credit card number over the phone without knowing more about them and verifying that they were legit (meanwhile, I looked up the phone number on my computer)!  The supervisor tried to tell me it was safe to give them my card number because they couldn't charge to it without the 3-digit code or a written or verbally recorded consent from me!  Then she said they would work with my credit card companies to lower my current interest rates and I would make payments directly to the card companies and the accounts would not be closed.   THEN I asked her if there were fees involved, and what they were.  SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!  Haha, so maybe they will take me off their list now...

They haven't seen the real Devil yet. Once they meet him, they'll quit their games and pray that they get out of the hell that they created for themselves. There they'll have the feeling of being alone with nobody to save them or hear their desperate cries. No access to computers, phones, or any other devices created by man. Fools are trying to become God by hiding behind man made devices.

Another number used by the biggest group of telephone terrorists, identity thieves, criminals, devils and Godless heathens in the world.  We all need to write our elected reps in DC to demand that they outlaw the use of phony numbers of any kind, i.e., numbers not issued by a legitimate telephone company (FCC common carrier, and tie-line numbers.  Outlaw the use of computer generated numbers.  Mandate that any organization making unsolicited calls of any kind MUST enable the real, legal, no foolin' identity of the organization to show up on Caller Id.  Actually ban unsolicited calls of any kind, whether political, charitable, credit card, or whatever.  As the political nonsense season is over, expect multiple daily calls from phony charity fund raisers.  Prescribe extremely severe dollar and prison penalties for violators.  As these Godless devils do not contribute to our elected reps in DC, the latter should not fear a reduction in funds to their re-election campaigns because us common folks who vote for them want the telephone terrorism and frauds stopped.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up..I receive calls from this and other numbers alot too.  This time I had an awful confrontation with the caller.  I asked to have my number removed from their call list because they were bogus.  My comment lit a rash of fowl comments and threats to my life!  I have reported them to my local phone company.  Put it this way, I was called everything but a white woman and I was going to be hunted down and killed!!  She also informed me that they were going to call everyday to make my life as living hell....I am so disappointed in the fowl mouth..makes me wonder what else she uses it for?

My call was not a recording.  A woman asked if I was a customer of a company which I have never heard of.  Then another company name was mentioned and I have not heard of that one.  I was at work and the call was ended quickly because I had no helpful information.  The caller did not inquire any further and we ended the call.  Is this a scam and some company wanting information?

It is clear that none of the State or Federal agencies are going to doing anything about unsolicited phone calls. I have thrown up my hands! The following message has been placed on my answering machine: (yes, I still have a landline)  "You have reached XXX-XXX-XXXX.  If you are calling from a telemarketing firm, survey firm, or attempting to sell a good or service, your call will never be answered.  If you are someone who I know or have business with, please identify yourself after the tone, I will return your call".  Oddly, I've had this recording for about three months, and while I still get calls, the volume seems to be falling.

Reporting these types of things to the FCC or FTC is an utter and complete waste of time. I have personally filed over 65 FCC complaints in the last year and have received the same canned letter back from them stating that "they have investigated the matter and do not find enough facts to find any violation occurred." I am on both the federal and state do-not-call lists so how can this not be a violation? The FCC and FCC are like a lot of government programs whose only purpose is to just use our tax dollars to fund non-value added jobs. They should be eliminated completely because they do absolutely nothing for the public. Sorry but that's just the truth. There's no way to get these slimy bottom-feeding telemarketing companies to stop calling you and they know it. The only way is to disconnect your phone line completely then the big phone companies like Verizon and AT&T will start losing enough business to warrant taking action themselves. You've got to hit them where it hurts - their bottom line! Good luck!
