I got a text from (253-244-6408), which Google shows as a Tacoma, WA landline, asking about Craigslist gym equipment I have for sale.  I'm in Michigan.  The message said that they were texting w/ an office phone (this was at 3:37 AM their time) and they asked me to reply to garrisond803@gmail.com.  I Googled (253-244-6408) and didn't come up with anything, but when I Googled garrisond803@gmail.com, I found a thread relating to a guy who contacts people on Craigslist and says he's out of the country or some other excuse, sends a fake PayPal invoice, and somehow scams people into sending money via Western Union.  He has also said he's a deployed Marine.  The phone number was different (this thread was throughout 2013) but email was the same.

Fraud Craigslist Dont relpy

I just listed a car for sale on Craigslist in Portland, OR.  He sent a text within minutes with the same story.  I googled his phone number and found this page.  I don't know how the scam works, but thanks for the warning.  I told him I'll just deal face to face and only for cash.

This telephone number replied to a vehicle add I had. I told him no paypal and that he sounded like a scam and to please not text me. Two minutes later he texted about a high end bicycle I have for sale and I reminded him to look at the number and never text me unless he is willing to purchase face to face. I also told him he could do something better with his life than try to scam people

Just went through the same thing with this guy.  Instead of responding to the email like he wanted, called paypal to verify and they said it was a scam.  Dont trust his email garrisond803 @gmail.com     It sounded alright until he mentioned the western union money order.  That is always the clue.  He needs to get a real job instead of just sittin around trying to scam people out of theirs.  I've had enough of these scammers to tell right off the bat what is and what isnt a scam.

I just received a text from this douche claiming to be a deployed soldier. He pulled the same paypal bs with me. Luckily I googled his email and found this page. I riddled him with texts explaining what I thought of him. As soon as I mentioned "scam" the replies ceased.

The scam is pretty simple. You will receive a fake Paypal receipt. The scammers hopes you won't notice & forward money to their "shipping company", by Western Union of course. That's the giveaway in these type of scams. The scammer always requests a wire transfer (cash) of funds. Any request, for any reason, of the use of Western Union, Moneypak, GreenDot, etc. is 100% a scam.

Same as above, he said he would pay by PayPal, and send a shipping company...

Did any one actually get taken for some money or is after your personal ID info?

I just got a text from a lt  Steger same paypal bs he responded really quick and was out of the country blablabla the number used was 1-720-437-9567 I thought it was off because he didn't haggle or ask one question about the truck or the price what a turd

Glad I looked up this #. I am getting calls as well noting there are out of the country at this time and will get a shipping company to come pick up the item I have on craigslist and they just wrote back saying it would ship to Canada. Pretty odd for a # from Colorado. I am steering well clear of this one, thanks !

As of today he is trying to pull scams. Today he went as far as telling me he is a Marine Officer and that he would never pull as scam. I called him on his fraudulent behavior and was met by him threading me. So, be carful and don't give hime any personal information. He seems to be a violent type and who knows where he really lives.

This guy is doing the same thing to me right now. If i send an invoice through paypal isn't it secure? Doesn't seem like there is any way he can rip me off...in fact I would like to rip him off. None of my information is on the invoice...what is the problem here how does he do it?

This number contacted me about furniture I posted in Craigslist.  They said they were currently out of the country and only had PayPal, so if I would accept that as payment, they would contact a shipping company to come pick it up.  I told them no thank you and that their request sounded odd.  Thanks to Samari above for posting the original comment!

This is a craigslist spammer do not sell any items to this person they will rip you off using paypal
