I have a NumberGuru spam blocker on my phone thankfully, so it shows up as a spam call.  In order to cut down on these types of calls, when they show up, if I am able, I answer my phone "New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, Valerie speaking, how may I help you"?  Some of the callers will ask me to repeat, others say they must have gotten a wrong number but most just hang up and for some reason don't call back :)

When I press #1 to speak to a person.  I ask them to remove my name from their call list, they just hang up on me.

Unfortunately these days the No Call List is a joke, it is so obsolete, these guys out there will get your number and call it over and over no matter how much we complain, and no matter how many people post to these type of compalint links.  You have to out smart them just for your own sanity.  I do not have a SMART PHONE that I know has apps out there on the web to block these sort of calls, I have a simple flip phone with a keyboard from Verizon.  Each time I start to receive numerous calls from the same number that is obviously a SPAM sort of call, first I go to a website like this and see what is being posted in regards to the number, then I add it to my contacts list under the name SPAM, then change the ring tone for that contact as a "NO RING" I just continue to add numbers to this contact entry until it is full, then start a new contact entry naming it SPAM 1, etc. etc. Now when I receive a repeated call from any of the numbers I have added to any of those Contact name I do not hear it RING and periodically I review the calls that have come in from any of those numbers due to you have a record of it now if needed to show the annoying calls just incase they do come up with a way of catching up with these JERKS out there.   Also after a while the calls will stop from a specific number and you can delete it from the Contact list, due to you wil have plenty to replace it with, believe me......these calls are only going to get worst, due to they have their ways of getting through. A lot of times if you do answer it or call them back then they actually have a record of a real number and a name, the SUCKER list as it is called, and they sell it to other companies and crooks worldwide.  The original calls are just random dials "PHANTOM DIALING" from streaming random numbers. To bad all this great technology out there it is being used more in negative ways instead of positive...Crooks...they're everywhere, they're everywhere....just makes you sick that it has got so out of control....

If you can't block the number or forward it to something like a movie time recording, your phone may allow you to id the number as SPAM and assign NO ringtone to it so it doesn't bother you.  I had to do this since I can't block it.

Solve this problem with a SILENT ring tone.
To do this use the record option on your phone. Record SILENCE for 1 second. Save the phone number that you want and assign the name "Do not answer". Assign the silent ring tone to this number.

After that when they call you will not be bothered because you will not hear a ring as it is silent.  The only way you know they called is when you look at your phone and see that you missed a call. When you see the missed call was from "Do not answer" you can just laugh.

Does not block the call but otherwise solves the problem.

I am on the no call list and am tired of these calls, leaves no message

I have gotten several calls from this number and they always claim this "is your last chance to lower your credit card interest rate"  I don't have a credit card and when I told them I was on the Do Not Call List, they hung up on me before I could finish my statement.  Is the Do Not Call List worth anything?  Because I sure do get a lot of nonesense calls and they really tick me off.

Same problem! If you do get someone they hang up if you ask who they are and why they are calling since I am on the National Do Not Call List.  Also they call from different numbers so you can't block them.  I called back and I either got a full mail box, disconnected number message, or a message to take me off their call list.  Seattle, WA and Colorado is what the ID says on my phone.  I am tired of these calls at all hours of the day and night.

More spam messages regarding credit card.  So sick and tired of the phone calls and text messages.  When I have time, I report to  the "do not call" list.  But, I figure it is a waste of time.

Getting the same calls.  If you ask a question they just hang up.  Can't find out any information about them.  Now they are also calling my cel phone.  I have reported them to the Do not Call but it seems to do no good.

Got a call from this number. Did not leave a msg. I called back and the automated voice stated that "the number you've dialed is not a working number."

It appears that, the number is a front for a telephone (dialer) system that keeps calling my phone. Telemarketers use dialers to dial out mass numbers. This system allows them to input ANY number that they want you (the recipient of the call) to see. This seems to be common practice for ANY type of telemarketers. By law, they must disclosure a working number associated with telemarketing business. This is an attempt by these telemarketers to avoid detection for their unethical business practices.

Unfortunately, our government (FCC) does not have the financial resources (like FBI or CIA) to prosecute all violations. Hence, these telemarketing companies get away with the violation more often than not. It?s a shame!

Got a call on my cell from this number. called it back said its not a working number.

Received call from 720-539-6698 from "Account Services." Played along to try to get some info. Told them I had tons of credit card debt and needed help. But as soon as I asked the name of their company, they hung up on me. It seemed as though they were going to offer a credit consolidation 'service' in order to collect all my credit card information. When I tried to call back, I was told by a recording that it was not a 'working number.'

I think you can block by going into your options and selecting "Add to Reject List" - that's what I just did on my cheap old flip phone; hopefully it'll work. I answered the call from this number and no one was there, when I called back a message said I had dialed a non-working number. Go figure.

Received a call from this number on 1-30-12 at 6:55 pm.   No message left.

Got a call last night at 9.  Called it back and recording says "not a working #"  Have gotten several of these in the past weeks. Really annoying, especially if I can't talk to a human and have my name removed.

Just got called- didn't answer

Got what I think is a followup call from this number after making the the mistake of answering a call from (406) 720-2099 (flipped down instead of up).  They may be related...

This call was from Credit Services who said they were calling on behalf of my Chase credit card services to lower my interest rate on my card. I was very leery and expressed my concern, but was assured they were legitimate because they would not ask for the security code on my card. After I provided the required information and "met the requirements to be eligable for the rate reduction," I was told that a "financial advisor" would call me back to lower my rates. I became very alarmed and called my credit company and was told this was a service offered that was not afiliated at all with my company. The "financial advisor" called me back. When I said to him, "You are not afiliated with my credit card," he interupted me in a raised voice and said, "why do you say that?" As soon as I said that I contacted my credit card company to verify who had contacted me, he again interupted and said, "You didn't cancel the card did you? Did they issue you a new card?!" When I said no I hadn't canceled yet and why was he upset about it, he replied, "because we told you we would call YOU back. You didn't need to call them." I said I called because I was concerned and he said, "you should have been concerned before you gave us any information. We are already charging your card $900.00!" Now I was very upset and said "Why are you charging me and I didn't authorize any charges." He said it was the fee to lower the interest rate on my card. I said I hadn't agreed to any fee and asked him to stop yelling. He hung up on me. I called my credit card company and had my card closed immediatly.

These scumbags calll late at night and leave no message.
