They call you to tell you that the Federal Government will give you a grant of $5000 directly deposited in your account and all you need to do is tell them your Hudson City account number.

Someone guy called me today but was a little hard to understand because he had a foreign accent.  He
said  that I was going to get 5000 dollars from the government and asked what I'd like to spend it on?  I said that I didn't know.  I was suspicous because you don't get anything for free.
I hung up on him and he called right back and said you don't have to do anything to get this money.  He then had me verify my address and then asked for my birthdate.  He said that he needed to make sure that
I was old enough for the money to be send to me.  I told him that I don't give out that kind of information
and hung up a second time.  Maybe I should have made up a birthdate and then waited to see what other
information he would ask for.  He hasn't called back.  He was getting a little irate with me though because
I wasn't being real respecful and didn't fall for his scam.  I am pretty sure that it was a scam.

I got a call from a george from jacksonville fl supposedly. Well basically same as above but they said it could be done thru western union all i had to do was send them $200 and they would give me $5200. After 3 days of talking to many people the talked me into it. I figured $200 4 $5000b i'll try it even tho it seemed unreal. I sent $200 and got the runaround. Well i had a # that people pick up at certain times of the day. I kept calling and asking for Jose Cruz cuz thats who did the transaction from western union. Well long story short i got ripped off and now that Julia, Chris Ramos, and Jerry Wilkinson call me saying its $484 to get $5700 and they will make it $284 cuz i pd $200 already and that Jose was fired cuz he didnt tell me about the fee for some govt stamp that needed to be on the enevelope i would recieve. There seems like there has to be a way to find these people. Now i call 2537850194 and mess with them everyday i get a chance. Also Julia# is 8768722001. i hope these people rot in hell 4 what they are doing. Nationwide Grants is 4 sure a scam.

Not from this phone number, but...

Indian-sounding dude called me asking for things; got as far as 4 last digits of SSN (stupid me gave it), tried to get my bank account number, I aborted the call and registered my SSN as potentially stolen with the credit bureaus.

Said he was from nationwide grants, tried to pass his name off as "Alex R. White".  Gave me 250-483-0351 and told me to call him back in half an hour, which suggests to me a burner number, which means I probably don't have the time to get the FBI on this.  He called me back and I told him to please delete all my information (like that will happen, but you never know).

Keywords: 250-xxx-xxxx; Nationwide Grants; Indian; Middle Eastern; American-sounding name;

[that's for the search engines to pick up on]

If you call the number back that they give, 1-727--569-1538 you can get into the system with a code of 8111. If you press keys and play around eventually you get to a questionairre asking for you personal and checking account information. They also provide a Customer Service Number for and American Health Benefeits, 8666205482.... I called that number and got someone who didn't know what the Government program was, but they got kinda hostile..... hopefully we can find more information.

I have an update.   If you call that number, a valid code is 8111.   You can't do much from there.   But you can tie up their phone line.

Very much the same thing as everything above.   I got this guy to give me an address - 4161 West Brown Ave, Washington,DC 20432.   If you go to the USPS site, it will tell you that there is no such zip code.

If you want to scam the scammer, and you have the time, keep him on the phone for as long as possible.   Time is money for them.   If they are on the phone with you, they are not calling anyone else.  I just kept him talking, but gave him no information.

I got a call today from a middle easter/indian sounding man saying that I was getting $500 for 6 months from the federal gov. He said his name is Vincent Parkins. He said I was getting this money for paying my taxes on time and not having a criminal record.

I asked him to give me an address and I got 5401 Security BLVD, Baltimore, MD 21235. What confuses me is that the number I received was (727) 569-1538. Thats a Florida number. His workers number is CS92011.

I'm going to check with my bank about this.

I received a call from 727-569-1538 this evening. I believe that who i was speaking to sounded of middle easter descent. There were two guys that i spoke to. At first i was very suspicious. But what was weird was that he had already known what my name was and my address (permanent). Than he asked me to verify my birthdate and then and bank routing number and account number. He said he was from firstcapital but was also from nationwide grants. That i had five thousand dollars and it would be deposited into my checking account once i gave them everything within two hours. I immediately began to question him as to what his name was and the address of the company and so forth. The following was information i was able to obtain, but is in no condition taken to be for real. His name was Sam Peterson employee number bet14142 and his where he was calling from was 113 Oscar Drive San Francison, CA 94114. I want to warn any and all people that see this not to give any information out to them. As it is apparently a group seeking to perform identity theft or fraud on an individual...

i too got a call from them-multiple calls, actually-on my cell over a couple of days-- from +419043426602, 1-904-342-6602, +9043426602.  i finally decided to answer and was fed the same line of bs.  i had decided to see how far i could go with the call out of curiosity, and was asked my bank name, city it is located, exact name on the account and for the deposit number.  when i asked what they meant by the deposit number he tried to sidetrack me by saying that he would like first the bank number.  i asked "routing number?" and he said yes, he then asked for a deposit number again, and i said "account number?" he said no, he isn't trying to get any of that sort of personal information from me, that will happen with the 'verifier' and proceded to ask repeatedly for the deposit number.  i said again about the routing number and he said the deposit number is the middle set of numbers at the bottom of my checks.  i said "oh, that is interesting, that is my acct #, prior to that-as on every check i have ever seen in my life-is the routing number" he quickly cut me off to ask for the first set of numbers first.  i again questioned the dep# and he frustratedly said he was not asking me for any sort of personal info!  i said i wasn't comfortable giving that info over the phone, and if he was for sure from the IRS i should be able to go to any office in person and verify whatever info was required. and asked him to direct me to the nearest office to my location and he said he didn't understand--why could we not just handle this info over the phone?  i said, ok how about you give me a number i can call you back at and got the 727.569.1538.  i asked for a way to contact him directly and was told that he was calling from a computer generated phone line from the IRS and if i would just hold on he would get me a ref.# to call with--as you all know, you don't get this number without giving you all the requested info...whatever!

They called my cell number about ten minutes ago and the number showed up on my caller ID as 102. They told me that I won $5000.00 from the government, and that it was a grant. They had my name and address and asked for my date of birth, account and routing number. I asked them questions such as how they got my information and they didnt answer. I told them to call me back in 10 minutes after I got the 727-569-1538 number from them.

they call and tell you that the federal government wants to give you 2000.00 and that it will be deposited into your account by the morning.  but this is a scam...there is no way to call back this number because it will ask for a program code and the people who call you will not give you that number.
