They have been calling and asking for Eileen or Arlene (can't understand them, always broken English and bad connection). That is no my name! And this keeps happening.

Got a call from this number.  Same broken English.  Same microsoft story.  Same scam.  The funniest part is that my family doesn't own a computer.  I guess the scam is on him!

Call from a man speaking very England sh from the "technical department at ????????" Asked him to please repeat where he was calling from twice. He hung up.

Caller tried to convince me someone was doing something illegal on my computer. This happened after ATT did a remote to my computer.

I received a call from 760-121-7788 and knew immediately that it was a hoax. I asked for a name and he told asked me what I needed the name for.  When I told him I worked in law enforcement he hung up the phone.  BTW, they called my Gvoice number.

Yes, but resources are limited and the scammers are located in India, where the US can't do much.  The Indian government isn't doing much either.   And won't be doing much with the extreme Indian nationalist they have as PM now.

Call blocker is your best bet.  Do not pick upon call numbers you don't recognize.  Don't call them back.  Do not give them any information.  

This is a total scam.

I got a call from this number and they said they were receiving signals from my computer and they needed info to help. I said I didn't have a computer (lie) and they hung up on me. Is there anything we can do?

This person keeps calling my house phone and my cell phone, regardless of the number of times I've told hi to leave me alone.  The area code links to several counties in CA.  I'm on the other side of the country so I'm not doing business in CA nor do I answer information calls or give money to strangers over the phone. That's just insane but many are ignorant and they are taking advantage of people and they need to be stopped.  The number is 760-121-7788 on my caller ID.  I called ATT and am about to send a email message to abuse@att.net to let them know they need to prosecute this person.  They said if you ever get a text message, send that message to 7726 on your cell phone.  They also said the more you report these people, the more seriously its taken by ATT.  I would presume same with other companies so report all of them, please, and help us put a stop to these fraud criminals for good!  I'm sick of these calls!  I get them several times a day and it's got to stop.  The ATT rep asked me if I was registered on the do not call list.  That list doesn't work for criminals, dummy!  So if you're on that do not call list and continue to get calls, rest assured it's a criminal or a politician which are basically the same thing.  :D

Just got a call from this number - said hello twice, then was finally answered, asked to speak to A... I said speaking... yes A, P. I said yes, he then said, how can I help you... I said, you called me, obviously you can't...

Got the same call today but the cool part about it is I work IT so I knew this was b***s*** from the start.  this call is a complete SCAM!!!

I received a call from this number today.  I said I couldn't understand him and he said okay bye and then hung.  Then the only call I could call out from my cell phone was 911.  

This person called me today, I told him how the hell you get my number and hung up. This happened to us in Feb, with a different number.

This sick parson call almost every day . When I answer he hang up.

ROFL! But yet the hackers are calling you! The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

I got a call from this number yesterday & today, some towel heady soundin guy told me the same thing that he was from microsoft & that there were hackers in my computer, I told him maybe he was a hacker, then he said Hackers don't call you. Then i said well hotmail is associated with mircosoft, so go ahead & close my hotmail email account, he said ok & then hung up.

Same story but when I told them I had already been in touch with Microsoft they hung up on me

Scammers and hackers can very easily find out your personal information online - rather scary, actually.  The point is, Microsoft and its partners - or indeed, any independent computer repair company - will NEVER cold call you.  A legitimate business will only call you if you've called them first.  The only way your callers might know if your computer has sent out error messages/viruses/malware - is if they hacked into your computer.

Then how do you explain that they not only had my cell number, but also knew my e-mail address?

Nope, they just use dialers or computers and dial out to people and those don't recognize the fact you may not have given it out or is unlisted.  They don't need to buy numbers or steal them bottom line..

Total scam

Have now received 3 calls from this number.  State they are computer support.  The only way anyone could have received the number they called for a computer would be through HP when we registered our new touchscreen.  I seriously hope HP is not selling customer contact information, or at worse case, they got hacked and their registration database was stolen.

My husband received a call this morning 5.9.14 and was told that his personal computer had been hacked.  He did not provide any information but called me as soon as the call ended.  the caller stated that they were from Microsoft Windows and then set a tentative appointment for this evening at 6 pm to go through his computer via phone and fix the issue.  After a brief investigation, i determined that it was indeed a scam and will be handling the call when it comes in tonight.  Sorry sucker but your gig is up in our household!  lLOL!  

Got a call this morning from this number. Did not recognize phone number, therefore, did not answer, When I got to work, I called the number. Recording came on:  "the number you dialed is not in service, please check the number and try again". Also tried looking it up in White Pages. Says this is Landline and in California.   I needed to pay additional to learn more. Refused to pay.  I do not answer unknown, out of area, or numbers I do not know or recognize. If important, they will leave a message!!!

Person calling said he was from Microsoft and that my computer had been hacked and there was illegal activity going on in Indonesia using my email address. He asked me to turn on my computer so he could check it out and remove the virus

Said he was microsoft he knew my email address.

Also called by this #.  Said, also in very broken English that he was calling from Microsoft.  Said my computer hacked & that my AOL account was being used to obtain porn.  Said he could fix it if I gave over control of my computer.  I immediately hung up.  Reporting this scam to my State's Attorney General fraud division.

We were called by this number. The person to the other end tried to convince us in broken English that a laptop of ours was being attacked by someone from Malasya, then started asking for personal information.
