I am receiving calls from these scumbags because someone I know has a debt and these lowlifes are trying to collect it.  I have listed them in my cell phone under the name "Do Not Answer" so when they call I see that it's from Do Not Answer and I decline the calls.  Next is to inform them that they must NOT call me and then sue them for harassment if they do call again.

They keep calling, looking for someone who DOES NOT LIVE HERE! I have told them repeatedly to STOP CALLING ME, and they persist in calling, again and again and again!

These people called me 5 times in a row.  Yes, I do owe money on credit cards, but my husband and I lost our business.  To me this is harassment.  Our government doesn't do anything about it.

This "agency" calls for my husband daily. I finally answered and told them they had the wrong number.  They call his mother's house, both our cell phones and our home.  That's their job..whatever.

Here's the deal...we both work and we own our home and were left another home by his father which er rent out. We have 4 children, all under the age of 12, and are struggling to make ends meet. We don't recieve any government asssitance and we work hard for everything we have. Yes, we had credit cards and did well at paying them until our mortgage skyrocketed, our insurace flew through the roof ( we are in hurricane nation), and all of our credit cards doubled and tripled the interest. So, call all you want. We can't give you what we don't have. We got to feed our kids and keep a roof over their head.

The government that makes deals with these banks and collection agencies owe more debt than all of us put together...so we'll figure it out eventually i guess.

This is Nationwide Credit, Inc., out of
Georgia.

It is a national collections agency that buys up debt from credit card cos., banks, etc.

They are unscrupulous and predatory, and have been fined for bad collections practices.

Strongly suggest that you do not even answer their call.  Answering their call can be taken as affirming that the debt they are after is legitimately yours.

They will continue to call you to collect.

They are calling my minor childs phone. Get real!  She has not credit, never has.  This has been her phone for almost 2 years, so if they are going off a number that belonged to someone else - they are very slow.  I do know they need to quit calling my child.

This is Nationwide Credit, a debt collection company.

They are calling me 6 or more time each day, almost every day, from multiple numbers, for over a month now.  They haven't sent me any notices at all so I don't have any idea what account they may be calling about or if I even owe something to the original creditor.  From what I hear about this company, the distinction of whether a debt is actually owed isn't that important to them.

The joke is on them, though.  I am logging all calls to my number and plan to initiate a suit for harrasment and violation of FDCPA.  Multiple calls a day with no message, and no notice of original creditor equals harrassment as far as I am concerned and I expect a judge will agree.

And by the way: once the number is pulled from the caller ID my PC hangs up on them.  I hear once ring, the call is logged, then they are gone.

This doesn't sound like a friend, it sounds like some dork from Nationwide thinks they can fool us into innocently calling back.  Try again, and try ot to make it so obvous next time.

You actually called them up and gave them your "friend's" contact info?  And you think that's the end of it?

Here's a news flash:  These people aren't calling to do your friend a favor, and you aren't helping anyone but yourself by telling them anything about them.  They probably have perfectly good contact info for your friend but your friend is smart enough to know that nothing good will come from having a conversation with these people.  They think that they will get a better response if they can coerce you into embarrasing your friend.  And once you respond, you can bet the calls to you will increase, not decrease.

If you really are a friend, just stay out of it and tell these lowlifes to stop calling you.  If they call back even one more time, sue them for harrassement and/or violation of FDCPA.  If you win it's legal fees plus $1000 in your pocket for each violation.  Or if you really want to be a friend, you could share the proceeds with your friend who is broke.

I got this phone calls like six times and more. I've been telling those ppl I wasn't the one they called and I don't even know that person who they claimed owe them money. They still kept calling, I called them back twice to inform them but I guess they have hearing problem clearly. They ignored me and called back again and again ~ so irritating and annoying ~ I just happened inheriting someone's phone or that person wrote it randomly or purposely so they don't receive calls from debt collector. Why am I the person who suffers those harass phone calls ?

A couple in my city disconnected their phone 7 months ago and the phone company turned around and  assigned their number to the company I work for.  Creditors call constantly looking for them.  I told the lady on the phone what happened and she was very nice.  Apologized for the call and said the number would be removed but would probably take 24 hours.  Not everyone calling for these people are that nice.

I don't pick up calls I do not recognize. I figure if it's important they will leave a voice mail. I pay all my debts on time so there is no reason for a collection agency to call me. Whoever is calling has not left any messages.

And you didn't give them your friend's bank account info and credit card numbers? C'mon, dude! If you're going to sell somebody out, you might as well do it right. I'm glad you're not my friend.

I'm not the person they're trying to reach either, but I think I know who they really are looking for.  Instead of remaining eternally angry about the phone calls I'm going to try calling them at the contact number they left and giving them the debtor's contact information.  I'm sorry the guy's up to his eyes in debt, but that ought not become a chronic problem for my family, you know?  I'll write back if it works.

smithlpoole,

If you send written notice to a collection agency to stop calling you, then, by law (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), they must stop calling you.  This does not apply to the original creditor, only debt collection agencies.  You can check it out here: http://www.cardreport.com/laws/fdcpa/fdcpa-menu.html

Regards,
Jeff

This is Nationwide credit as stated above and they can be very unprofessional.

I had to advise them not to call my home at all and not work.  I allowed them to call my cell phone and let me tell you, they call EVERY DAY.

They are very annoying.

I'm going to tell them to contact me via mail only this time around.

I do owe a company money but have been paying when I can, and I am almost done paying.  They have a quota to meet and they will hound you.
