I know Richard Westrop personally, trust me....this is a total scam!!!!     They make millions and millions, so to say that 100% of proceeds go to charity is a monster lie.   There are two companies, the first company ( the clothing collection service) sells the other company (the thrift stores) the clothes and 100% of the money from the first company goes to charity,  the catch is the he owns both companies.   $75,000 fine is nothing to this guy, that's a drop in the bucket.  Call him at his mansion in Natchitoches, LA 318-352-7537 and bug him on the phone for awhile.

I don't care how much money people have or how old and disabled they are, have you EVER known anyone to have a house call by a doctor?

St. Louis, Mo. - A Texas business that routinely telephoned Missourians who had asked not to be called in its solicitations will make a payment of $75,000 to the state and develop a series of policies and procedures to ensure further compliance with state consumer protection laws, under a settlement obtained October 31, 2008 by Attorney General Jay Nixon. Nixon reached the assurance of voluntary compliance with Merchandise Pick-Up Service, Inc. of Houston, which does business as Charity Clothing; and its owner, Richard Ferrer-Westrop.

A very polite girl asked about picking up donated clothing for Disabled People.  I offered that we normally give to Amvets.  Then she said, okay, thanks, and hung up.  I was disappointed that she didn't try to overcome my objection because I'm in sales and that's what I do.  Anyways, I was curious and then googled "Charity Clothing Chicago", which was on the caller ID, found a phone number, 773-394-8828?, and called.  The gal said that the proceeds they get from selling the clothing they pick up go for doctors who make house calls on those disabled, seniors, and homebound persons. I also got their website address:  physicianhomevisits.org.  It's a non-profit organization called "America's Disabled, Inc." .  And, I checked online at the Illinois Secretary of State's site.  They are registered as Not-for-Profit, and they are in good standing with the state.  I feel comfortable donating my old clothing to this organization.
