Charity Scam asked for the guy who had my number before.

They call and ask for someone if you answer, otherwise they DON'T leave message

Called my place of employment and asked for my supervisor by name. Would not leave a message and asked whenmy supervisor would return.

Called asked for my wife

This number called me today (Saturday) at noon for the first time. I saw ILLINOIS as the caller and immediately unplugged the phone. Then googled the number and found these reports. I plugged the phone back in and blocked this number from ever calling again. The reason these people hang UP on you is they are selling your number. When you answer or call them back, you are helping verify they have a valid number to sell. And those of you that complain about the DNC registry, how many of you have had endless calls from legitimate business with which you haven't done business that aren't charities, surveys, or politically related? Me? None. These spammers, however, don't give a rat's a55 about breaking the law.

I'm so sick of these people,they call and when I answer they hang up,when I call the # back it's a busy signal or what sounds to be a person picking up and saying nothing..........QUIT CALLING!!!!!!!!!!!It's so annoying!!!!!!!

Call received at 8:38AM (which is obviously BEFORE the "9 AM" cutoff when solicattions are supposed to be "allowed"). Was not able to answer before call disconnected with no message left.

It is fund raising campaign service for charities.  They list the "good deeds" they help with fund raising but NOT the charities names!  I don't donate through agencies.  I'm going to start blocking the calls.

called @ 7pm Sunday night... I did not answer,listened to voicemail and I heard a male in the background say my last name, then a female repeat it, then the male repeated it again, then they hung up...called back, recording talking about collection for partner charities, to call back from 8-5 M-F Central time... AND THEY CALL MY NUMBER SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!  Nice how they use collection to help the families of Armed Forces members....

Received call on a Sunday afternoon.  I did not feel well and was napping when the caller woke me and I found out later whoever it was did not leave a message.  It showed as "unknown name" on the caller id.  I always thought that telemarketers, organizations asking for money and even "card services" wanting to thank you did not call on Sundays, but who else would not think that call was important enough not to leave a message?

Caller ID titled 'chicago, illinois'. Asked for wife by name, did not want to leave a message, and when pressured, identified this as a 'thank you call' from "Alaskan Childrens Wish" . I know my wife is easy to find, and she has her pet charities. Having her donations and philanthropy publicized has made us flooded with scam callers. There is no alaskan childrens wish limited liability scamterprise.

I bet if I faked a female voice, I could have wasted her time getting them to run credit card numbers known to be stolen.

I have received several calls from a bunch of different numbers from all over the country, every time I look on this sight it says the same thing Children's Wish.       This is annoying as 'Rachel of Credit Card Services"

I'm thinking this is illegal group of thieves which  can to modify Caller ID.
The  #718-068-7430 belongs this or another illegal group. Sometimes #646, #914.

received a call on 12-14-2011 at 5:49 pm let machine pick up soon as it did party hung up will not answer unknown numbers or caller id blocked. if it is important they will leave a message. if not they will never get a responce. do not call list is a joke i think once you register people call even more.

The number 773-696-5000 is handled by Mpower Communication Inc. (Empower Communications) at 31 N Wolf Road, Wheeling, IL  60090-2937  (847) 243-0003 with Roala Huff, Principal Contact and annual revenue of $170,000 with three employees.  This company came out of bankruptcy in 2002 and certainly looks like a sham company doing business for crooks as explained in Jeff Brogna's post.  I think everybody should call this company and complain about which ever customer of their's is using this number for illegal activity; may be if this poor small company gets a large number of calls they will drop this customer unless they are an intergral part of it?

got the call, it said chicago, i thought WOW I MUSTA WON SOMETHING FROM OPRAH!  i didnt answer, no message then put the number in google -- i dont respond to any calls i dont know, if it is important, they can leave a message.

This number just called - said "Illinois call" instead of the business name. *gasp surprise* I don't answer ANY calls that try to hide their identity. Called the number back, but after one ring it seemed to pick up and hang there. Then a fast busy signal. Guess they don't want ME bothering THEM! Guess what, robocallers? I don't give a penny to anyone that calls me for money. So you are only wasting your time. What really sucks is I no longer give money to a new charity because I get enough of these things aleady. Via phone and my mailbox.

I'm sick and tired of this number calling me.  I thought I was on the no-call list -- big help that NO CALL LIST is!  Sick to death of them calling.  I have a voodoo doll I stick pins in everytime they call -- hope they feel it!

Number, city, state, time appeared on caller log, but no message was left.  I don't answer calls identified as "unknown" "unavailable" or calls from outside of my state.

I received same call as patch, and got the same reply when I called back.
