Caller hung up as soon as the call was answered (first ring).

I live in Ely and have received these calls also, and so has my sister.  Wasn't home to answer.  My brothers a cop, will let him know about it and see if it has be reported here.

Who should I contact when I get harassing calls?

Local phone companies have varying policies on whether to call the phone company or the police first. Some recommend that you first call the phone company's business office and explain the problem. A representative will connect you with the "annoyance desk." Other phone companies may require you to file a formal complaint with local law enforcement before they will deal with the matter. To find out what your phone company's policy is, contact the business office and ask for assistance.

For serious threats, if life or property are threatened, or if calls are obscene, you should call the police and file a report. Provide as much information to law enforcement as you can. Indicate the gender of the caller and describe the caller's voice. Note the time and date of the call(s). What did the caller say? How old did he/she sound? Did the caller seem intoxicated? Did he/she have an accent or speech impediment? Was there any background noise? Was a phone number/name displayed on the Caller ID device?

What can my local phone company do if I am receiving harassing calls?

If the calls are frequent or particularly threatening, the phone company can set up a "Trap" on your phone line. The Trap allows the phone company to determine the telephone number from which the harassing calls originate. You must keep a log noting the time and date the harassing calls are received. Traps are usually set up for no more than two weeks. The phone company does not charge a fee for Traps.

A phone company service called Call Trace may also be able to help track down harassing calls. Immediately after receiving a harassing call, you enter the code *57 on your phone and the call is automatically traced (1157 on rotary phones). Call Trace is easier than using a Trap since the customer does not have to keep a phone log. But Call Trace technology works only within the local service area. (Look in the "Customer Guide" section of the phone book or the phone company's web site for a description of your local service area.)

Call Trace must be set up in advance by the individual receiving harassing calls, and it requires a fee for use. However, in situations where the phone company would ordinarily use a Trap, you might not be charged if the phone company suggests that Call Trace be used as an alternative. Be sure to ask.

The information collected from Call Trace or from a Trap is turned over to law enforcement personnel, not the customer. Law enforcement officers try to stop the harassing calls by either warning or arresting the harasser. With both Call Trace and a Trap, your phone conversations are not listened to or recorded by the phone company.

Got a call from this number and they just hung up when I answered. Glad to see that this wasn't important and should be/has been reported.

Just got a call from this #, caller stated he was from "Firefighter's Association" - I politely declined and requested to be placed on a do not call list, and the guy just hung up.

i just got a call from this number. It's 12/22 6:45pm. I live in Carson City and I guess this number is in Ely, NV. I wasn't near the phone to answer it.

I just recieved a call from this number also.....hung up on me....appears to be in my area code though....I will report myself to local authorities...

That number just called just now - and I answered - they hung up.....I'll report to my local police dept myself....area code is from my area though....strange....

This number called my work this afternoon and hung up as soon as I answered.  I stayed on the line and they had to click repeatedly to disconnect.  Does not appear to be computer automated.  ???

Please call your police department and report these people.  I received calls from this number, but only recently because this guy used to call from another number 775-293-4515 and I reported him to Cox Communications (that's who our phone service is with) and they did a search on the 4515 number and discovered this guy has been harrassing and soliciting funds from people all across the country.

The calls stopped for about 4 months and now they've started back up again with the 775-293-4350 number.  I called Cox to report this number too.  Maybe if the police departments get enough calls, they'll go after this guy and stop him BEFORE he gets another number.

you better stop calling us, ym, we know it's you put us through this, it's been over year, we know it's you, stop being selfish, stop being a sinner, God knows it's you doing that, please stop it now, I know you won't feel better either,  ....feel guilty right, don't assume we don't know that, we track back and already figure out it's you. we just don't want to hurt you, hope you can see this msg.   You give God a bad name, shame on you, go read all the articles you've written, what a shame on you!!!

Person calls but does not say anything. Just listens for a minute and hangs up. Seems like every couple of days now. I am sick it !!!! I tried to call back, but the phone is turned off and mailbox is full.

I have received about 3 calls so far - always hangs up.  Also tried to return call "mail box full".

Called today, went to voice mail, no message left, returned call, no answer -- said voice mailbox full.

This caller has been calling us for some time now, at least a month. Calls every 2 to 3 days. I answered today and they hung up. We have blocked this number. Should not have to do this.
