They use caller id spoofing. They make up some random phone number (like 777-888-9999) and make it show up on whoever they're calling's caller id. There is only 1 way to stop them calling. Pick up the phone they call you on and dial *607778889999.  It should block the number from calling you. From now on, once you dial that number above only once, whenever they try to call you they will get cut off automatically and they will just give up, and thats what you want, right?

this number has been calling me every 3 times a day for the past 5 weeks its soo annoying.  a male voice picked up and said i owed money for my car i replied and told him i am all caught up on my car payments then the line went dead. the second time a women replied and said sometihing  in a french accent. the third he called and said i know who you are and i hanged up and never got a call since.....really freaky

this number just called, lady looking for the previous owner of my number (from years ago) so it's probably a collector or something.

Received a call in Idaho from this number. I picked up and said hello. Voice responded with "hello" and then I got dial tone.

the number that everyone has been getting IS an International call. some caller id's pick up as such numbers, and some just have ( 011 ). you will not get charged for any such call, unless You agree to such a contract, (i.e.. Yes, i will take the call). it could also be that such a person is using a round' about way to make calls without being identified. this is what i did...
i called my local sheriff/police office and told them of such matter and they said that they would look into ... (LOL!!!) yeah, right, unless they aren't "sucking" down donuts, they are not about to lift a finger for such a "Minor" issue.

Anyways, recieved some call from this same exact number. Looked strange so I picked up and hung immediately... quite freaky. Looked up this website and left a note. So odd!

They continue to call me here in Arkansas and ask for someone named Eric, and tell me about how I (they assume my name is Eric, I suppose) have an auto loan.  What the hell.

keep gettig calls from this number...answering machine picked up and it was a male with a foreign accent. was afraid to answer and get charged money.

I am in Virginia, am on the do not call list, and this number comes up on my i.d. at least four times a day.  We've answered and asked them not to call us but they continue to call.  I have complained to the do not call registry.

I live in CT and just got a call from this number.  I didn't answer it but my call blocking service doesn't allow me to block the number... says it's invalid.  weird...

This number has called me twice in the last hour. Didn't answer either time, which is what I normally would do with an obviously generic phone#. Either way, if you simply ignore the call they will give up. Regardless if this is someone playing a prank or an international scam; if you never answer the call they will lose interest and move on to the next target. When you answer the call and speak with them you're only feeding the fire and giving them a reason to keep calling you. If only everyone would do the same thing and ignore these do***e bags, maybe they would actually go do something meaningful with their pathetic lives...

I came home and saw the number and immediately googled the number, and read all these comments.  I blocked it from being able to reach me.  I didn't even listen to the message, and erased it immediately.  No fuel to the fire, HA!!

Apparently it records you, It kept replaying my "hello" to me for several seconds then abruptly hung up on me.

If you are getting a call from this number it is from National Asset Collection. It is a collection company. If you want to know how to fight these calls and stop the harassment go to creditrestorationexpert.com they can help with these type of people and get them off your back!

Weird! I got got a call from this number and then a Vmail. Was my wife calling from her work number...

I received a call at work from this number, the individual said that he was calling from my county courthouse about some papers that were going to be served at my place of employment and even gave a date. Then he proceeded to give a reference number and asked that I call 1-888-577-7953, but there's no listing for that telephone number.  Under the Fair Credit and Collections Act, if it's a collection agency, the caller must identify him/herself.  Also, it is against the law to falsify the purpose of calling as it is considered a threat.  I contacted my sister who works for the county courthouse and they have no such number listed as their contact; thus this was a false call.  Good thing that I kept the voice message as I can pursue it in court, if it comes to that.

I received two calls last night from this number 777-888-9999.  The first call was 10:15 P.M.-I didn't
recognize the number, but, answered because it was late and thought it may be important.  I said hello three times.  No one answered, but, you could tell someone was there.  I hung up.  Then, about 11:00 P.M., I received another call from this number-again I answered and no one answered.  I hung up.  I don't appreciate getting calls that late and I don't think people who are selling something or whatever can call that late at night.  The last call woke me up and I don't appreciate that!!

Spoofed Numbers: Caution, 777-888-9999 is a "spoofed" number, which means that whoever called you "tricked" your caller ID to display an incorrect phone number. Telemarketers do this so you cannot complain, but they failed... you can still file a complaint here to fight back against unethical telemarketers.
