Joel W  I started getting scam calls from my area code about 2 years ago and now they have escalated.  I now get at least one a month or more.  I understand that they use the area code of the people they are trying to scam just to get people to feel more at ease about picking up the phone.  They may be using fake numbers for caller ID or a stolen phone number, {had my phone number high jacked a couple of years ago and these people used it all over KS on a Sunday}  I know because I got some really nasty calls back from the people who were called.  The people who do this are no where in KS but in states as far away at New York and CA.  

Call was from Topeka,KS.  Something about renewable energy in Kansas.  The message was on my answering machine and was cut off by the machine.  I live in Kansas so it must have been some political group.

These people called with a harassing message. There was no way to take my phone number off of their calling list.
