Telemarketer
This company are scammers.  They call and ask to update your company information and then  offer you a 30 free trial, even if you say no they send you over to a verification center where even if you hang up they paste and put together a verification.  I $99.95 on my phone bill, I called and I am still fighting for charges to be removed.  I called AT&T and had them put a "3rd Caller Block" on all my lines.  AT&T helping me dispute the billing and told me they have had a lot of complaints about this company.  They told me to report them to the PUC and I will.  In the mean time all of us business'es need to have a 3rd Caller Blocker on all your lines.  THIS way these people can not bill on your account!   What a scam they should be put in jail.  BEWARE!  I will always hang up when someone calls to "update" my information!

This company is a fraud. Do not answer any of their questions! They will begin billing your phone and will not refund your money. Hang up immediately and call your phone company to request that a block be added to your account so that no third party accounts can bill you through your phone. If you do not do this you will have fraudulant charges beginning with your next phone bill. Then you will have to fight to get them taken off. Call your local congressman's office and request that they shut down this fraudulant company.

When I answered the phone no one was there.  I called back a couple of times and each time I got a message stating-- "Please hold for customer service" and then I listened to music for a while.

I just got suckerd!  Fortunately I used to be the property supervisor for that commercial building at 16133 Ventura, and when I asked for the suite number they said there was none.  I know for a fact that it's a highrise with a lot of doctors and attorneys. I will of course follow-up in my prosecuting attorney style fashion, especially after reviewing all of your comments.  Thanks for sharing.

I called the number back this morning, after being called like everyone else leaving messages here.  They answered the phone as Customer Service.  I told them I was reporting them to the Federal Trade Commission, and that if I receive one charge on ANY bill coming into this house from ZIPWEB, they will be hearing from me again.
I am on the do not call list, but since this is also used as a business phone, they can call for that reason.  She looked up my phone number and put my number on a do not call list for this company. I told her that they are a scam, taking advantage of people during a horrible economy, and that I understand that you need a job too, but not at my expense.  It isn't right.
She asked me what kind of company it was, and I told her it was the company my husband started after the company he worked for closed, and we lost our health insurance, so he could put me through Nursing School, and I asked her if she understood that!, and that I am not going to let her or anyone *&#K that up!
So, this is my advice - call them back, and make them do it!
Merry Christmas!

I just got a call from these idiots and the person on the other end was speaking a language I couldn't identify (perhaps Middle Eastern?!?). I said "hello?" And they promptly hung up. This was the second time they called within a couple of hours. The first time, I left the machine answer. Of course, no message!

Do not pay any attention to anyone here that says zipweb is not a scam they probably work for them. I was set up to be the "featured company" I went to the page they set up last week and it was a blank page with my company name and a phone number it did not say what my company did so how can anyone search for it. I tried to log in to add information and the site does not even work.I tried to bring up the page they set up for me this morning and it is not even there anymore. After finding dozens of complaints I called them today to cancel and was told the system was down and they could not do that I asked for a manager and of course there was not one there. They are liars and cheats Mark Cave also owns lawstar do a BBB search on that there are dozens of complaints I want to see this guy behind bars or sued out of existance

I received a call from these people today. Following is text of a letter which details how I handled them. My personal info has been redacted. Seems threatening them provides instant results. Good luck not getting scammed. I mailed and emailed this to them and only one email bounced. What a waste of time having to do this.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

March 26, 2009

Mr. Mark Cave
ZipWeb.com and any affiliated company

Dear Sir:

Re: NOTICE

Today, I received an unsolicited telephone sales call from one of your agents or employees soliciting “free” internet listing services. The caller asked many questions about my business, address, phone numbers and personnel authorized to make purchases.

The telephone conversation concluded with me making very clear to your company’s caller, agent or employee that under no circumstances was I authorizing charges to us for any services of any kind whatsoever from your company. This includes any charges by invoice or particularly by charges to any telephone number account registered in the name of (REDACTED) Further, I made it clear to the caller that in the event of your company does not comply strictly with my instruction as indicated above that both civil and criminal complaints would result.

After checking the background of business practices of your company I discovered numerous reports of unauthorized charges being made by your company to others. To ensure that I was not victimized in a similar fashion by your company, I made a subsequent telephone call to your office and spoke with “Robin” (no last name given), who identified herself as a “manager” to further advise your company that I in no way authorize charges to me for any services from your company. I asked “Robin” to confirm her understanding of this verbal instruction in writing via email and she stated she was unable to do so.

I asked her to direct my call to a party in your company who had the authority to do so and she refused. I asked to be transferred to each of the following listed persons, but “Robin” advised that I could not speak with any senior management personnel in the company.
Mark Cave
David Harris
Hany Demian
Jim Stockman
Ivan Paladines
“Robin” did state that all calls by your sales reps are reviewed by “management” prior to any billing and that if I had made the statements I said I made in the call that no account would be set up and therefore no charges would ever be billed. This statement indicates to me that the original call by your sales representative was recorded. This is, at the least, disturbing and, at worst, potentially unlawful. At no time during the original telephone solicitation was I advised that the call was being recorded. In accordance with the California Penal Code and Florida Statute particularly, recording of telephone conversations without the express consent of all parties involved in the call is unlawful. Further, in the event you make third party billings to my telephone accounts where that activity originated through use of the telephone, that action may contravene Federal wire fraud laws.

Page 2

A second call by me was made to your company to 800-222-5529 later in the day. “Robin” was not there but I spoke with “Adam”. I verified with him that the call was being recorded and then read him the majority of this letter to ensure that there is an audio record of this communication in the event that this letter never reaches you or anyone in your company with responsibility.

Upon finishing conveying this letter verbally to “Adam” he asked me what telephone numbers I could have been called at. I gave him four telephone numbers (REDACTED). He confirmed there was no record of an “account” referenced to any of those numbers and that no charges would ever occur by your company to any of them. I asked “Adam” to confirm this in writing by email and to my surprise, he agreed immediately and within 10 minutes I received the requested confirmation. (copy attached). He also advised that I would not receive any further solicitations from any of your companies.

The exchange with “Adam” was the only positive exchange I have had with your company for which he should be commended. It would have saved me considerable time and effort if your “manager” Robin would have agreed to do the same thing. In total, I have expended approximately 2 hours of valuable time today to protect myself and my company from becoming a victim of your questionable business practices.

Despite “Adam’s” satisfactory response to my request, and not knowing what authority “Adam” has within your company to make such assurances and because of my inability to discuss this matter with a senior member of your company as I requested, I am still compelled to forward this letter for the record and advise as follows.

This communication will serve as notice that any action by you or any company you own, control or that represents you for the purpose of soliciting business for internet listing services or any other service that results in any payment to you by my company, whether through billing to my telephone accounts or in any other fashion, is not now and was never authorized. Any attempt to secure payment by me or my company for any type of internet listing service offered in the original telephone solicitation will be construed as intent to defraud me.  Be advised that I will pursue all available civil and criminal recourse in the event that your company acts contrary to my explicit instructions contained herein and in the verbal instructions given to your staff.

Sincerely,

(REDACTED)

I received a fraudulent charge on my phone bill from 16133 Ventura Blvd. 8th floor Encino, CA. 91436. I was billed by payment one on behalf of Search Marketing Services, in connection with Zipweb. I contacted the FCC and they directed me to the FTC. I suggest everyone file a complaint with the FTC. It is an easy online form and it will make it easier to prosecute people who maliciously misuse the system.

Got a call today from Zipweb.  The gentleman (with a blatant Indian accent told me his last name was Garcia) asked for the owner or manager.  When I told him I was the manager, he didn't listen to me and told me he'd call again later (I should have let him).  I stressed again I was the manager and he went into his shpeel.  He had all the wrong information about our location and didn't listen to a single word I told him.  I had to repeat myself so many times I got quite frustrated as I hate to repeat myself over and over to some idiotic moron who doesn't have enough grasp of the english language to be able to speak to someone other than read their script.  He told me that the was representing 877 In My Zip.  When I tried to Google that, he told me he was from ZipWeb.  When the first thing that came up was ZipWeb Scam, I told him to cancel everything and the phone went silent.  I said "Hello" and he came back on the line.  I told him to cancel again and once more the phone went silent, "Hello" I said again and he came back on the line. I repeated again that when the first thing I see on the internet about a company is "SCAM" I want to cancel everything.  I hope we won't get charged on the phone bill.  Since we are a nationwide business with lots of local franchise offices in many different areas, I should have told him, "You do realize you've called a nationwide business, don't you?  We have our advertising taken care of by our corporate offices. We don't need things like this."  But since we are a new office in my area, we are wanting people to know we are here.  Also told the owner to keep an eye on the phone bill and that we may have to put a third party block on the bill to keep the charges from appearing.

I have asomewhat of a solution.  Since they are calling from an 800 number, it cost them to receive calls.  Everyone should store the call on speed dial and call it at all times of the day and night.  Tell ythem you are not interested in the annoyinh calls and let them pay the phone bill to hear it.

They have changed their name again

Now BIG CITY YELLOWPAGES

they scammed me too

No matter what any of their employees say, they scam people. Yes it may be disturbing to them to deal with these complaints two years later. But when that Indian lady LIED to me. there was no misunderstanding when I was told later that my phone call was recorded and I told them to listen to it. They refused and threatened me with legal actions if I pursued a refund.

They claim there is a free trial? TRUE but I was auto enrolled after I said the word "YES" after she asked if my address was XXXXX. I repeatedly told her I did not want their service and would never pay. I never received anything from them only a charge.

I got my refund by filling fraudulent charges with my phone company.

First, allow us to apologize for your negative experience. We are always surprised by this type of feedback, as it is virtually impossible to be charged for our service without being aware of it. We record every single sales call and then put each recording through a 2-stage quality control process. We then call the customer to confirm and explain our service, followed by e-mail and hardcopy notifications prior to the first billing.  A vast majority of the time, the human touch is a great thing, but occasionally human error may result. We invite you to contact our VP of Customer Relations at 1-800-222-5529 if you would like to discuss your specific issue. It is our sincere wish that every business benefits from our service, but if not, we at least strive to resolve all conflicts and misunderstandings.

They always call and when they ask to speak to a manager I say "She's not in right now may I take a message" They then reply with "May I please talk to a manager?" I then say "Shes NOT IN right now, may I please take a message?" replied with "Ok" in a very but hurt voice. Then silence and click. I just do it to f**k with the, its great.
