It came up as a flower delivery service, called back and it was a survey for political stuff. Added my number for thier do not call list.

these clowns keep calling all hours, pushing #1 to place me on do not cal only causing more calls!

One way to avoid the calls is to see if your provider offers the option to block specific numbers.  Verizon Wireless offers me up to several numbers to block.  The only downside is that it is only good for 90 days so I have to remember to update it every three months.  I just avoid answering any 800 number calls - if they don't leave a voicemail, I assume that it is not important.

the number 1-800-244-3247 is for a marketing research firm (name unknown). they claim to comply with the do not call list.

Sometimes an automated message is left. Claming to be AT&T but the websites don't exist.

these a***oles call all the time, they are smart a***s, they are taunting me and use the excuse that as long as they aren't soliciting for money that they can call and ask if you want to participate in a survey

I used to work in Custome Service...never ask the caller to remove your number, they do not have the authority....always demand to speak to the Supervisor...then let them have it....demand the name be taken off or you will seek legal assistance....be firm!!

Avast specific number blocking.  Problem solved.

Why do some people answer calls from unrecognized numbers?

Got call from this number.  Told them not to call. It is a private government number.  They apologized.
Never got another call

Got a call this evening, let it go to voicemail and they didn't leave a message.  Quick Google search found that they are called American Directions, a survey company.  You can supposedly call or email them to be put on their Do Not Call list.  We'll see how well that works for me.

Two nights in a row now for me getting a call from 800-244-3247.  They are calling my cell phone around 6:30pm.  I run to grab my cell phone and they hang up before I can even answer.  Based on how long my ringtone is, they are only staying on for about 2 rings before they hang up.  UGH, annoying!!!

These clowns are back at it. Didn't answer. Call came in after 7pm.

Report it to your congressman - he isn't doing anything useful anyway. Maybe they will put some resources into identifying who spoofs phone numbers and makes these phony scam calls. Most fo the numbers they use are non-working numbers. The number that appears on your caller ID has nothing to do with the number they are calling from. Pretty sure it isn't Level 3 Communications or ATT. They will just call back using another fake caller ID number anyway. I've received the same calls from at least 15 different numbers, including this one. They claim to be "Cardholder Services", or sometimes are now even claiming to be "Discover Card Services". They aren't. They are scam artists. Let you rcongressman know that it is happening and that you expect them to take some action against these criminals. They won't take action agains illegal aliens - which would be easy in comparison - but maybe this will give them something else to argue about and not agree on...

Calls and disconnects after 5 seconds.  Has happened a couple of times in the last few days.

Found a missed call from these clowns on my phone this morning.  No idea what they were trying to survey for this time, they didn't leave a message.

12/18/2012 - call was regarding my support of Congressman Gary Peters (D) Michigan efforts to push an allegedly bipartisan budget cutting bill. I asked what exactly was being cut since I won't agree to anything unless I understand specifics. Couldn't do it so I said goodbye.

I received a couple of calls from 800 244-3247. It is a marketing firm regarding "important national issues" which translates to PACs. If you call them back, listen to the tape and eventually they get to the opt-out part, so do it. The problem is that they will continue to call you because they claim it takes days to process your opt out. Complain to the FCC if you continue to receive calls after a few days. PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST REMAIN ON THE PHONE TO VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE OPTED OUT. Make sure you get to the absolute end of that process.

It's the America Directions group and they do poloticl ads, surveys, market research and things like that. Apparently, you can call and get put on their do-not-call list. The link to their website is above.

I just received a call from this number at 7:19 P.M. No one was on the line.

got a call, woman asked for someone that does not live here, had right last name but wrong 1st name, told her that and she abruptly hung up w/o identifying herself.

A quick Google reveals that the company is American Directions Group. If you call the number you can be placed on the internal Do Not Call list, but listen all the way to the end because there are a number of prompts. Survey companies are exempt from the Federal Don Not Call Registry, so there's really nobody to report them to.

Called about 8pm to my cell. Name unknown. No message.
I don't answer name unknown calls.
