I received a call from this number this morning at 8:42 a.m. No voicemail was left. When I called the number back from my cell phone, I simply got a recording that said "We have new information for you, please press * to receive a text message with information on the number you are calling".
I pressed *, got a text message from a company called smsvw.com, I went to the website, and it gives information about opting out, but not specifically what the company is for or why I even received a phone call. I am on the do not call list, so I should never have received a phone call. I found a customer support phone #, dialed it from a land line phone, and told the representative I was on the do not call list and she said their company does not place the phone calls, but somehow a phone # that called me used a phone # that connect back to them??? Sounds fishy.
I called the phone # back from a landline and I got a different recording. This recording immediately said to dial 10-15-15-8000. It repeated the number twice then said that for a charge of $4.99 per call I could receive information about phone #'s. It went on to say it was a new national directory assistance service and referenced Calling 10. www.calling10.com is the website that was listed.
This is the first unsolicited phone call I've received since signing the do not call registry - which leads me to believe it's a form of fraud or a scam.
