Where is this magazine they speak of?
I tried to get a copy, but received no response.

The only copy available online has no business card sized ads, and is from 2012. If CBU has been publishing since 2010, where are all the magazines?

I got a call last week, was swamped, kept asking for the guy to email me something or mail me something, he was reluctant to do so. I told him any sponsorships that my company does requires written info on the company.  Imagine my dismay when this morning I got an invoice from this company.  I called and had my invoice squelched and was told it would be brought to the attention of the sales manager.  Very shady business practice as far as I am concerned.  They may be legit, but I question their ethics.

Just received a call from them.  The call display said 613-689-1501.  He said he was calling from the Police Advocacy went on about anti bullying etc. and would I place an ad in the police advocates journal.  I started asking questions about this journal and when its coming out etc and he stopped many times like he didn't know anything.  Even when I asked for his name he said Mario and I asked for his last name and he was silent for a moment and then said Remillard.  I asked for his call back number and he gave me 1-800-267-1266.  It has to be some sort of scam.

Company Pres got a call from them this morning.  The Call Display comes up as Police Assn CBU.  They were told we weren't interested.  Two hours later they called back!  I told them xxx wasn't at their desk, can I take a message.  Wouldn't leave name, but said they would call back again.  Unbelievable.

I guess is a scam, because I paid for 2012 the add (250+ HST), and they should send me a magazine or some kind of advertising  book , but they sent me  a cardboard in the envelope. They still call in Jan 14, 15of 2013 but I will let them to spend their time but not money will come

It is BS and I suggest you look up the different magazines through the Better Business Bureau.  CBU has many different publications that sound like legit magazines.  I have looked into this extensively and have had these magazines that are published by CBU confirmed by the Police that it is a scam.  Honestly do you see these publications out in the public or just the one that is mailed to you if you advestise?

Got a call today from Don Duke
He was looking for sponsors to help Vet Hospitals
He informed me he was from "Anavets"
Sounds like a scam seeing how people here have a different company...

Don't give money over the phone when some one calls or your info just tell them you will think about and don't do nothing.

I just got a call and they claimed that they are looking for sponsor for StopABully.ca.

After doing a little search and found this page, I called back 1-800-267-1266.  They said they do different charity fundraising from their office like police and firefighter, but then I told her it's not about police and firefighter, then she paused and said we do many different fundraising here.

I'll try to contact that website of StopABully.ca and see if this is real since I'm in the publication industry as well.

Got a call today looking for donations to Firefighter's memorial in Ottawa.  Contacted cfff.ca and they know CBU Publications but the call should have been selling add space only, not using a pretext.

People get screwed out of their hard earned money everyday by s*** like this so maybe you should cut people some slack and if they really need to raise money there are better wats of going about it!

i got  a phone called from .1800-267-1266 .and he  said . he is a police office and asked me , if i can donate $350 or $250- to him for charity to help people from preventing crime . and i agreed to get a Canadian money order for $ 250-  to help  the police department. and i was going to my bank to get the money after i close the  Bridal Shop. and my friend Tony called me on the Google Webcam. and i  asked him to help me to get the money order from the bank. he asked me why i need that . and  i told him that , for the donation  to the the Police Department and help to preventing crime.and i was so happy and willing to do so. But Tony said,it was a scam and tell me not to give the money out like that. and ,he asked  me for the phone number , and i and looked at my ID caller on my phone  . and  read to him  1-800-267-1266. he called in to the police department  to asked if they  are doing the Fund Ring to help preventing the crime, and he called me back and told me. it was not from the police department call. so now  i m confused. and now my concern is. what to do . is it true or  is it not .

He was very rude. very very rude.

Now he said he called from Attorney. want to talk to business business owner.

They call me and asked for the business owner. i'm jus startign  out my business, but i said i could do my best and asked them to send me some info in the mail. I didn't even need to tell them my address, Thats kinda scray, my advise is to not get pissed at them as they know all ur info

After receiving an invoice, I called the company and asked to cancel.  She was very polite and cancelled without any arguments... No problem here

I received a call again today from these people. The man on the phone was very rude. I had asked why he was calling. He assumed he was calling a business number. He repeatedly asked for the owner. I repeatedly said what is this in regards to? He said well.... I guess the owner is not in I will call back at a later time.
I am fed up with people soliciting. Almost everyday I get a call from someone looking for money. I had put my number on the do not call list...... apparently as I can see it is working very well!


So fed up.... is there anything that can be done?

One other item I forgot to mention is someone above said the person that called said that he was a police officer. If this happened, that is illegal as it is illegal for anyone to be calling themselves a police officer.

I know anyone calling from CBU has to say: My name is ---------Calling ON BEHALF of the Canadian Police Association. Of course being right upfront regarding this issue. This is a must at CBU!

I did receive a call from a person I beleive his name was  Mike Franklin. This guy really pushed the limit of being a police officer, I believe his group is called the  Ontario Police news. His pitch was very close to CBU. I just let him go as I know police do not call in this manor. This guy was very aggressive but backed off when I asked if he was a police officer. Then he tried to change his words. I would bet a lot of what is said in the above comments are really from this other group.

Its too bad as groups like this hurt the real thing. Obvisously this group is trying to copy CBU.

I have worked there in the past for several years till I was laid off.  I can't beleive some of the comments above. This is a legit company who works directly with the different Police Associations and FireFighters. They do have very high overhead as they employee many people in order to do what they must. Calls are taped and anyone crossing the line or even close to being rude are dealt with immediately. Police and FireFighter's Associations do receive money from CBU and in return get their word out through the Magazine's. But words like SCAM is wrong regarding this company and I challenge anyone to prove that CBU is a SCAM. As this does not apply.

I bet a lot of the BS comments above are from past employee's that have been let go for the very reasons they mentioned above. As for anyone who has worked there in the past knows that CBU is not a scam.

Anyone who has issues regarding CBU only has to call the office and the managers and executives are always there to talk and resolve any problems. They are friendly and professional and want any complaints to be reported to correct these issues!

I used to work at the Canadian Police Association. If it wasn't for CBU we wouldn't have been able to build the police memorial on Parliament Hill. Please, don't call scam before doing a little research. The association makes CBU record all calls, if something is amiss they had a liason officer who will deal with your complaints.

There is a way to "block" on your cellphone.   I add the number spamming me into my contacts list, then go into the setting for that number and set a silent ring.  Whenever the number calls, I have no idea that they do!

Annoying to have people in the world with so much time on their hands, they think it's fun to harrass other people

Got a call from this number today saying they are calling on behalf of the Ontario Provincial Police Association...asking if I would be interested to support the organization.  WOW, first I thought it was the OPP calling me, so I asked again who he was calling from and there he said "calling on behalf of the OPP Association.

You are retarted... the company has been around for nearly 30 years and I have seen first hand the great work they do.  Do a lil research.. not all fundraising companies are evil like Xentel.
