I am legally disabled and on SSI. (I became disabled years after my student loan.) These guys promised to get my loan dismissed, but instead sent me a promissary note and "debt consolidation application". I can't afford much more than my rent right now, so I didn't sign this or verbally agree to anything. I'm not agreeing to repay this loan. By law, I am eligible to have my loan dismissed.....but I haven't had any luck doing so.

Needless to say, last year they seized my entire income tax refund! Food right out of my children's mouths.  :(

These a***oles have called me as many as 4 times a day! Usually it's every other day at about 8:30am. Being a drummer, I have a great way to mess with them Once I get a real person on the line, I go into the drum room, grab the heaviest stick I have, then wind up and smack the loudest cymbal right by the phone! I can just picture some schmuck ripping the headset off and holding their head! LMFAO

Seriously...don't ever pay a CA anything! Period, the end. Go back to the original party and arrange payment or whatever, but don't waste your time or money with these low-life scumbags. They are morons and don't give a damn about you or your situation...just give me money. Remember the words of Ron White..."you can't fix stupid"!

Mainly just don't have contact with them, or acknowledge calls...eventually they sell the paper to another lowlife if they can't contact you direct. There's some kind of statute of limitations involved, but I forget what the time frame is.

These people called me for a person named Michael Besling, a person that I dont even know! They said I am listed as a possible aquantince of his...wtf is that?!? How do companies get information on someone you MAY know? It makes no sense.

They would not tell me the company they were from or give me a name.

Yep. That's interesting. I get several calls per day from them, and I have no debts, no unpaid student loans or any unpaid loans for that matter, excelllent credit, a private new number that I've given out to no one but a few family members, and I'm on the do-not call list. After all that, I still get these annoying phone calls. I don't answer 'cause I figured it was a scam, I just don't know to whom I should report them.  They call from several numbers and rotate:  443-205-1021, 410-202-0018, 434-533-9027, 202-367-9911.

These guys call them selves "WAM" (West asset Management) Like "Pow" or "Boom". They are kinda like the trash men of the financial world. Nothing but over the phone thugs hired by the Federal Government to collect on student loans.  They use to call me every other saturday and every morning at 8:00am.  They were good at annoying me.  I eventually gave in and started a payment plan with them, paying 500 bucks a month on my stupid DEVRY loans (Which never payed off BTW).  Long story short I wasnt able to afford the 500 after a while considering that it was the holidays and stuff.  They threatened to garnish my wage, and take my taxes.  They been taking my taxes, I GOT FED UP! ALL I WANTED WAS FOR THEM TO REDUCE MY PAYMENT, BUT THEY DIDNT BUDGE.  I did my own research .....payments are suppose to be 1.29% of the principal and interest or lower.  EVERYONE IF YOU RUN INTO THESE GUYS OR IF YOU HAVE A STUDENT LOAN IN DEFAULT MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH....

I googled "Stop student loan garnishment" and I read a book called "student loan blue print" It changed my life.  I played these collectors and I wont them at their OWN GAME!!! West asset management.. your people cruel and they have no human sides to them....

Never had a student loan in my house and they're still calling me.  Don't think at 61 years old I could get a student loan if I begged.

You say they collect student loans?  This is funny.  I'm 61 years old, and have no student loans, so I'm not sure why they'd want to talk to me.  Been a long time since I went to school.

Caller ID gives a 703-291-9037 number.  I've googled West Asset Management and they have all sorts of different PO boxes around Atlanta, GA with different ZIP codes.  The 800 number they give to call back is 800-270-1022.  Back to the Caller ID number ... 703-291-9037 - I did a reverse lookup on whitepages.com and it comes up as an Unpublished Landline in VA!

They called me also and had a local area code number flash along with their 1-800 number; I guess to bypass the Call Intercept. Look out for 1-703-291-2037!!!!

My loan was paid off and they are still calling to collect money.

I filed an FOIA but it has been neatly filed away in the circular file bin. I asked for Congressional assistance and received a one page letter saying its out of our hands.

Learn what you can on the job, these hassles make going to college not worth the trouble.

I have excellent credit, no defaulted loans, no debts in collection and they called my place of business looking for me.
I called them back, and they had the wrong name attached to my work number. How mis-managed and disorganized to call my workplace for collection, when it had nothing to do with me.
I wish everyone "GOOD LUCK" if they really have to deal with these clowns.

They've been calling my sister on a daily basis about an old ER bill which she disputed with the original creditor two years ago and won't send VOD (validation of debt). NO validation, NO money, NO kidding!

This is West Asset Management Inc. Another stupid collection agency. These jerks collect student loans. The only return address they gave is PO Box 725169, Atlanta GA 31139-2169. I wrote to them asking for proof and to stop calling me. They sent some BS papers to me which prove nothing but they did stop calling. All the CAs hired by the Dept of Education are morons. Challenge them under the law. 9 out of 10 times they will not comply but beware because they can still try income tax seizures and garnishments w/o taking you to court. If you dont have the money anyway tho it really doesnt matter. Take the risk and help shut down the thugs hired by the Dept of Education who are more interested in making money than returning money to the govt.
