called my husband at work. says they will consolidate debt by transferring balances to lower-rate card. is this legit?

Just recieved this recorded message with no caller name.... This happens at least once daily.  This is a professional office-  who is this, & how do they generate these numbers?

I receive phone calls from 228-209-8325 at 9:26 this morning (according to the date/time stamp on the voice message options.)  The message was from Ashley Martin, a very generic name, she was calling from a "certified non-profit agency", the agency apparently has no name.  She was claiming she could reduce my credit card interest.  I was instructed to call 1-800-310-9636. When I called back to tell them that they are idiots I got a message that said that I need to call during business hours!  THEY JUST CALLED ME! The funny thing is that I JUST charged approx. $200 on my only credit card that had a $0 balance!  I get these phone calls all the time.  It is very irritating because I have a child with special health needs and I have been communicating with doctors that I MUST put into my phone book so that I recognize the # when they call. Oh, by the way...this only happens on my cell phone. Any suggestions?!?!

Called me at work as well and left a message.   Identified herself as Ashley Martin with a Non-profit credit organization.

This service called me at work, the number the call came from is totally different than the number they asked me to call back with all of my credit card information and current balances...

This is a business & the calls need to stop. We are a very busy homecare agency & we do not have time to run to the phone just to answer these calls that are nonsence.

We just got a voice mail saying she was Ashley from a "Certified Non Profit Agency".  I called the number she left 800-310-9636 and they identified themselves as Debt Relief Center.  I asked if they were a government agency and she said no.  I asked if they were a company and she said yes.  The Debt Relief Center has a website out of Idaho and was previously using another number 800-321-8412 but the same Ashley was leaving the exact same message.  

How can we complain about people who giving erroneous or misleading information on the phone.  I worry about someone who really does need help or someone who does not realize that this is a SCAM.

I received a call from this number also and the lady left the same message that everyone is saying. I am also in credit card debt and have been searching for a consolidation company. On the voicemail she said her name was Ashley and that I also should have my credit card statements ready when I returned her call. I sounded to good to be true so I googled the number and found this web site. My advice that a friend gave me is to go onto the Better Business Bureaus website and enter the name of the company if known and see what there rating is according to the BBB! I am looking forward to contacting the Consumer Credit Counseling Services and hope they help me with my debt.I hope this Ashley person hasnt obtained anyones personal information. On 07/01/09 at 1200 noon a femail voice left a message on my cell phone asking me to call 800 310 9636 befor the next billing date.  There was amissed call from the same number at 10:49 am also. The message stated to have all my statements ready when calling and that she would be there till 10:00 pm. She did not say where she was calling from or who she was. I could only sea that the call was made from 877 676 5866. Please tell me how to get my phone number off their list.

I recieved the call a couple of times.  Decided to call back. It was Ashley (Bright Chipper, FAKE tone)...  No answer.. SCAM SCAM.. Just a way to get your information....

Received call from (800) 979-5645, which was a recording from a female stating her name was Ashley and my credit cards were in serious need of assistance; to get assistance press 1.

When pressing 1, got a male subject who asked if I wanted to lower my ineterest rates.  When I asked him if he was aware they were calling a State Agency, he hung up.

Tried calling the caller id number of (800) 979-5645 back, received recording that the number was no longer in service.

This is a Scam; if you get a call from this number, do not answer phone.

I was taking a nap, and when I woke up I checked my phone and there was a missed call from 800-979-5645. DIdn't know who it was and didnt bother to call it back becasue it was an 800 #.

They called and asked about my credit cards to lower rates, I asked who they were and he didn't answer

Looks like they fired up their call center today...I got the same call a few minutes ago to my cell (which I have never listed on a form/document/internet/contact page).  Annoying.

Just got a call from this number. Woman named "Ashley" left a message stating that I was approved for a consolidation loan I applied for. I have never applied for such a loan. Wanted me to call back with all credit card information. Total scam!

I missed a call on my cell phone from 800-979-5645 at 11:17 am EST.  Trying to return the call I kept getting the automated msg that my call could not go through.  After reading all your comments about this number, I can see why.

I didin't answer becasue I didn't recognize the number.  Checked it out here, and I'm glad I didn't answer it.

I just got a call on my cell phone from 800-979-5645 as well, only it was a man named Robin who wanted to sell me Health Care insurance for only $99 a month.

I was at work at 9:40a and I received a call on my cell from 800-979-5645 and it was a girl named Ashley from a non-profit debt relief agency.  Said she could make all my cc payments into one and very low.  I have no credit cards and my number is on the DO NOT CALL LIST so why are they calling?  She told me she'd be in the office until 10pm and to call her back at 800-310-9636.

800-310-9636 called me this afternoon at 3:02 pm. I did not answer and let it go to voicemail. They left a message for me to call them regarding consolidating my credit card debt. I don't have credit cards. I called them back to get more information as to how they got my phone number, but Andrea was extremely rude, refusing to give me their full company name, corporate address or phone number. I called back six times and only one person said that they are called Debt Relief Center and are in Lincolnwood. When I pressed for more information, she hung up on me. I am filing a complaint with my attorney general's office. I will be giving that office this website to look over, so thank you for your stories.

Got a call from the above number - I had a feeling it was a scam because it came in on our business line. So, I called up and asked for Ashley. I was told (by "Sandra"), that she doesn't have a number, she just leaves the messages. I asked if she had a personal extension I could be transferred to, and they kept insisting that she "only leaves the messages". That's when the fun began...I fired off a bunch of questions like "why can't I talk to her?" and "will you take a message for me?". Stuff like that. They got tired of me and hung up on me. It was kinda fun. Something to do on a rainy afternoon

Ashley called my husband at work and he wanted me to call 800-310-9636 for details. He told me they were a non-profit, and consolidated debt by transferring high interest rate balances onto another credit card.

Sounds good in theory, but my questions to him was, Who's really doing this (who's the issuing bank), and how's it benefiting them (Ashley Martin, et all)? He told me to call and find out. Thinking I wouldn't really get the truth from them, as they didn't even give a company name, I got online and searched the 800 number.

Low and behold, I found many, many hits saying SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, so I tossed the number and added my two cents here.

I received a message (which started in the middle)from a female about 9:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight time telling me they could lower my rates and to call her back at 1-800-310-9636 with my documentation and information handy.  

I just moved here and have an unpublished number, how did they get it?  I want off their list!

Ashley Martin said she could lower our interest rates if I would call her back at 1-800-310-9636...this call came in to our business line....

They told me they could consolidate my credit card debt. I dont have ANY credit cards! They called my cell phone which I understand is illegal. When I called back and asked them to remove me, they hung up on me.
