I have received about 9 or 10 calls from a 1-877-6529 supposably regarding a personal business matter. I spoke to a girl that said her name was Marquita Miller . Marqita proceeded to give me an a name and address for somebody that she was looking for proceeded trying to get information from me regarding this person and all she could tell me was that the name of the company was CDE and they were there located in Iowa. As we were speaking I heard a bunch of laughter in the background while I asked to speak with the manager. The guy who got on the phone said he was the manager and that his name was Scott Loux. I would please like to know more about what this socall company is I have already made a call to the police and will be contacting BBB regarding this matter

Totally INCORRECT! The only way the clock on a time-barred debt is reset is if the debtor makes a payment. Acknowledgement of the debt does not reset the clock either. This is why a debt collection firm was once severely penalized when they claimed a payment had been made when, in fact, they had tried to credit the account fraudulently.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

When you contact a debt collection agency and tell them sol is over it actually starts the sol again ad you have acknowledged the debt.

Insurance paid my bills. Go away and don't bother me. Doesn't leave a message. But I read the above.

BTW one of the accounts they were calling about ..was in process with my insurance angency. The hospital made an error in fileing it.
I had begun making payments, and then I RECEIVED A $60.00 Check form the hospital for an overpayment as the insurance paid in full..... I am still getting calls and letters from the collection agency and have places a notice with my credit report.

Yes I do have outstanding medical bills!
in todays world who doesn't.
I refuse to deal with collection angencies.
I have payment arrangements directly witht he hospitals or MD.
When this angeny called ( or others) I always ask them to send me proff of the debt with a CURRENT BALANCE owed.
THEY NEVER DO!
The custormer Service (HA HA) department is very rude and threatening.
AND YES The bills DO and HAVE BEEN reported to my credit scores,
even one that is just 90 days past due
(with payment arrangements already made!)
Now I never answer the phone unless I know the number calling.
The caller NEVER leaves a message.

Gragill is a debt collection agency. Our law office gets their collection letters on a regular basis because our clients are injured, out of work and cannot (yet) pay their medical bills. They are relentless. They call us every 3 months asking if the case has settled and if there is any money in it for them. I have gotten to the point where I tell them if they want to know about the case they can go to the courthouse and get the records. I'm too busy to deal with them - or they can file a claim in court for the money. If they don't file a claim, they snooze and loose. I dislike vultures and that is what these people are.

A woman named Jenna (or Janet?) called. Said she is from Regal Associates. Was very vague about her company and the matter she was calling about. After few rounds of her not being able to represent herself clearly I hanged up.
After that I looked at the letter from Gragil Associates, Inc collection agency and this number was printed on their letterhead.

You don't have to deal with agencies. Send them a validation letter with a Cease and Desist clause. If they continue to call after that, file a complaint with your state's Attorney General's Office. Also file with the Federal Trade Commission and the BBB. Look up your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. These agencies don't like an informed consumer but the laws are there to protect your rights. Use them. That's what they are there for. If enough consumers file complaints eventually they will get put out of business or sued by an Attorney General. You can also sue the company and the individual collector for any violation of the FDCPA.

Abosolutly only pay the original creditor. Never deal with these companies. Start by sendind a Validation request letter coupled in with a Cease and Desist contact clause. If they continue to try to collect, file a complaint with your states Attorney General's office. Its incredibly simple and can be done on line. Also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision and the BBB. You can also sue the agency and the individual collector in Civil court. If enough consumers become wise to this and file complaints, eventually they can be put out of business. Consumers have more rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act then these agencies would like us to have. Use them to you advantage. Thats what they are there for.

Gragil Associates
29 Winter St
Pembroke, MA 02359
Pembroke is a town about 25 miles south of Boston on Route 3. They appear to be located in an industrial park.
Their name is pronounced like "gray Jill".
Debt collection agency, apparently specializing in medical debts. They purchase debts owed to doctors, hospitals, etc. for pennies on the dollar and attempt to harass people into paying them, regardless whether the debts are real or not. Many people have reported having already paid the debts Gragil was trying to collect for, and produced receipts as proof of payment. The persons working at Gragil are almost always reported as being rude, threatening and harassing at the very least, and uncooperative in resolving debt claims that are incorrect or unfounded. As others have already stated, your best recourse is in small claims court, provide your medical receipts to the court and sue their pants off.
The names they provide (if you are unfortunate enough to accept their calls) are almost certainly bogus.

I just got my first call today. I owe a hospital bill that is about 4 months old and will start sending money next month. HOWEVER, I will send it directly to the hospital and NOT the collection agency, therefore the collection agency will NOT receive any payment of any kind as they did NOT collect the outstanding balance.
| SCUMBAG 2011-12-05 22:20:17 Unknown |
So....knowing that you are calling places that these people DON'T live at or work at anymore- you continue to do so??????? Isn't that harassment???? I get these calls for my husband's EX-wife who happens to have the same name as me. I have explained this to them MANY times and also given them HER correct number and actual address. She ignores them so the keep calling ME... You KNOW you have the wrong person so.......... are you hoping that I will be able to convince her that she needs to talk to you so you will stop bothering me????? Of course, being the EX-she loves that I am being harassed. OBVIOUSLY you people are NOT taking your jobs seriously or you would ONLY chase these people where they ACTUALLY are not the people you KNOW can't help you..... make your petty little job sound legit and important anyway you mat- but if it looks like a SCUMBAG, smells like a SCUMBAG, and acts like a SCUMBAG-then you are a SCUMBAG- do somthing good and important with your life...
