I fell for this scam because the caller identified himself as an AT&T Account Manager. I repeatedly asked him if he was with AT&T and he said that his company (American Select Provider Plan) provided long distance services to AT&T, Time Warner, etc. Then I was connected to a verifier (Capital Verification) and he spoke so fast I could hardly understand him. I was quick enough though to write down the phone number he gave if I had questions. I immediately Called AT&T and they told me they had no relationship with anyone other than AT&T. AT&T put a block on my account so I won't have to deal with this. I did call the number that the fast talker left for me (1-877-839-6347). When I was able to speak to someone in customer service they told I would be responsible for any bills that would accumulate until the service was finally disconnected. The CS rep was rude and disrepectful. Since I was able to contact AT&T before anything changed my account with them I don't imagine I will be billed.

Scammers, want to change your long distance to their third party service and charge you loads. If you verified with them like I did (I was disoriented), contact your provider and put a freeze on your account. Easy as that. If you're reading this while still on the phone with them, just hang up, or better yet tear them a new one.
