These jerks called me 9 times today! I have already informed them that the payment was in the mail and they keep calling.  It is harassment but what are you going to do, in my area Consumers Energy are the only gas suppliers.

Consumers is full of a bunch of a**es. Get skype...real easy to block them from calling.
I have also had some free time to call back and let the recordings run...800 numbers aren't free...for them.

Yup, consumers energy.  Their dialer goes faster than the workers and they aren't that professional.  They call, I have to wait 4 or 5 minutes for the dialer to connect to a consumer and some jerk uses profanity when I can't give em a credit card.....

Call and call and call.  Paid my bill, last time I paid it late, they blocked me from paying online.  When you call to pay by phone, either by CC or check, they will charge you an extra $6!  I called to state that I paid my bill, these idiots tried to SELL me a plan to fix appliances in a house I do not own.

BTW everyone getting many calls or you have told them to stop calling and they keep it up, Better Business Bureau them!  It works wonders.  Look up collection laws and if they are not abiding by them, make a BBB complaint!  I did this previously w/ a collection agency, they pissed and moaned for me to remove it.  Then I sued them and won $10,000 for breaking collection laws.

Here is what I suggest everyone do to "inform" Consumers Energy of their methods. It's only effective if you always pay your bills, which is my case.

This is to inform Consumers Energy that I appreciate the influx of notification calls made to my phone, in addition to the threats of shutting off my power whenever I am delinquent on my payments by only a week or so. I commend Consumers Energy and believe in the power of effective communication, so for each time I receive a call I will send this email to inform you that I received the said correspondence.

Sincerely,

(state your name)

This is not just for debt collection! I'm so annoyed! This number calls me numerous times a day and says nothing when I pick up! They have called previously froma different number to ask me to participate in some recycling appliance program but this number is different from that! I am not only current on my bill this month but have never been late or had an unpaid balance of any kind!
Now, for those of u who are unable to make a payment, misplaced a bill or are late in your payments I think a reminder call and messege is fine...."A" reminder call not several per day! I highly view this as harrassment as well and feel as trhough I am being prank called! Why would I assume with small children at home this is not threatning behavior?! Again, I'm current on my bill and think this threatning, harrassing behavior is a complete violation of my rights! This is my phone, my time and my inconvienence! What would thje difference be if everytime I got grociers the grocier followed me home and yelled at me from the street all the coupons available for the week! Leave me the F alone! I am tempted to seek legal advice about this out of hand company that thinks they are entitled MY time! Enough prosper is made on there behalf to be okay with the other 49% of folks who feel harrassed by them daily!

I have no clue why people can't be nice to eachother. For the people at the top, don't assume that they need to pay their debt. Maybe they have none. I keep getting calls from this number and I have no debt. I'm 15.

only the absolute worst fdcpa violators have employees trolling complaint boards continuing their ILLEGAL COLLECTION and HARRASSMENT on public forums.

SO THIS THREAD IS EVIDENCE THAT CAN BE USED AGAINST THEM - when you file complaint - include this THREAD

The Debt Collector
Money Beggars
Liars, Lawyers,
Con-Men & Thieves

Who Seeks a Career as a Debt Collector?
The average debt collector is male, has a large ego, bounces from job to job, suffers low self-esteem and enjoys using the telephone as an instrument of empowerment.

You shouldn't be surprised to find most of them have great debt problems themselves. (Even though they post on complaint boards that they do not)

Collectors see themselves in a position to take advantage of those they deem weaker, in an effort to overcome their own insecurities.

They normally will talk-over any issues you may have, threaten and intimidate you, lie, misrepresent themselves, abuse, annoy and attempt to push you as far as they can.

only 2 out of 10 are honest and hard working.

The greater percentage are deadbeat scum either just out of, or heading back into a jail cell.

Collecting is a male dominated business and because of the shortage of skilled workers, agencies are hiring anyone who can walk and chew gum to make their calls.

Social skills, education and career orientation are NOT normally the prerequisites for a debt collector ? money beggar position.

After all, a portion of what they collect from you becomes theirs.

You'll hear standard phrases such as: "what is your intent" or "I'm going to recommend that our client take immediate legal action against you."

The innocent unsuspecting consumer feels threatened, even terrorized by the antics of unscrupulous debt collectors.

The really bad ones will call you at work, violate third party disclosure, or worse, threaten you with arrest or wage garnishment if they don't have the money today!

They'll try to persuade you to pay off old debts using your new credit card, via Western Union wire transfers, bank drafting, debit checks and cash.  They will tell you your credit report will be clean if you just send them the $ MONEY$.

The National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) and the National Association of Consumer Advocates, (NACA) assist attorneys across the country in pursuing agencies and collectors who violate the law and your rights.

Collectors are learning that the phone name they use and the perceived anonymity of hiding behind a telephone can easily be overcome with today's modern technology and investigative techniques.

Some collectors are learning first-hand that they too, can be charged with making threats over the phone and that their employers don't provide bail money or legal representation.

Creditors are increasingly becoming less tolerant of agencies that allow abuse and will drop those that don't comply.

I urge you to complain about collector abuse by contacting the FTC, the American Collectors Association, the original creditor and your state bar association (against attorneys), or me if you feel your rights are being violated.

There is a nationwide group of professional consumer attorneys, skilled in debt collection laws that passionately defend the rights of consumers against these illegal collectors. No consumer should ever suffer abuse from a debt collector.

The laws WILL protect you!

No we're not complaining about owing money, we're complaing about the practice of employing a$$holes like you to harass people. You hide behind the false "security" of 800 number anonymity; harassing people with your telemarketer courage to get your rocks off; knowing that the people on the other side of the line can't physically get at you.
Think for a minute; what would happen to you if you harassed someone face-to-face out on the street?
What if you were out on the street and someone started harassing you, what would you do?
Leaving 10 messages on an answering machine without leaving a message, or not talking when someone does pick up the phone, is not a good faith attempt to remind someone that they've overlooked a bill. You just prejudge everyone as a lowlife. Nobody deserves to be harassed and bullied.
I'd be ashamed to do such cowardly, ignorant, bullying, disrespectful, and ineffective work, but then I have morals.  This can't be lawful and legal for much longer, if it ever was. People like you will be brought to justice sooner or later.

consumers energ keeps alling me fromt his number. i own a hurh and they had me on the projected useage plan for the first ear and a half then one montht hey send me a bill for $2,000 and have harrasssed me ever sine even though this is thier fault. I don't believe they ever ame and checked my meter, otherwise the would have known I was useing more power then on my plan. This is sad they have held this over our head for a year and I an only pay a little on it eah month. They all me everyda and say they are recording me. I spoke to some people high up in the state and they told me the won't kill my power int he winter. When they do int he summer I plan to go after them in court over this and the 16 months of harrassment over their mistake. I think some of the power could be fromt he former owner even as they could not give the days and times of the first meter reading when i moved here.
