Numerous messages calling forr a Sylvia  Case from an E. Recovery Company;t;hey have called from 1-800 403-7807 and 1-800-403-7479. regarding # 74075312...they obviously are not doing a very good job of checking things out as I  have had this tel# for ;years.

Somewhere,at some time, you entered your phone number for some purchase, etc and those lists are sold by companies to make extra money.  A number of them do not care if the information is correct or not.

Some of these companies use a random generator (the numbers are entered into the system and the computer randomly pulls one up and calls it) - the problem with that system is that the CSR has no control over who is called or how many times.  Even if you spoke with them, cleared it up and they noted you should no longer be called, it's up to the IT (or whoever) to remove that number from the list in the system which they may not do because a lot of these companies are paid based on calls made and not the results of the calls.  Sure, it's completely unethical and unscrupulous, but not necessarily illegal.

Been getting calls every day lately. Used to get collection calls on this line for someone unknown and finally got them stopped, now they have started up again. They never leave a message. Now I have a Panasonic phone with a call block feature, and they are blocked! The phone just rings once then stops. It displays the number that attempted to call, and shows that it was blocked. The idiots still keep trying every day though!

I pay my bills so they should not be calling me.

This guys has been harassing my old friend for almost a month now. I don't owe any one anything and In fact when I was paying for my utilities I used my phone so how they got my friends phone number is beyond comprehension

I am amazed that in this country that these poeple are allow to do this over the phone. I have a number of unknown calls rining my number. and I'm not in debt. how do they get my number?????

I get calls from this number.  I missed the one I got today and it went to voicemail. I called it back and it was just silent on the other end.

Has caled about 50 times in 2 months.  Leave a message on answering machine this is a message from a debt collector.  Says if you are not so and so hang up  then disconnects.without leaving message.

They may say that the debt is reactivated, but unless you made some kind of payment or agreed to some kind of payment, the seven-year time limit for purposes of credit reporting should not restart. I'm not sure about state-by-state statutes of limitations. But as far as credit reporting is concerned, they are allowed to keep things on your credit report for seven years "from the date of last activity" - a somewhat ambiguous phrase.  Activity solely performed by them (the new account name and number) do not count, nor does the fact that they reached you on the telephone. They should know that and probably do, but they're hoping you don't.

You can get the item taken off of your credit report by disputing the item with all three agencies. Also, you can file a complaint with the FTC for violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You may also be able to sue them as well.

Recorded message says to go to some website (cant understand the message) and enter some number.   Sounds like a scam to me.

started receiving calls from this number on my cell phone. They have yet to leave a message as to who they are and what they want. When I called the number back I received a recording saying the company name is ERC and if I wanted to make a payment, to press... I don't owe anyone any money nor do I ever give out my cell phone number. This number is a scam collection agency number.

get that information from the origional lender.  

I worked for a Large 500 Company as a collector 30 years ago. At that time you were allowed to be rude to a limit. All information that was given at the time of the loan/purchase was already on file.

I am hearing impaired, and ended up shutting off my voice mail as I never could hear the message these people left. When I could hear these people, I got a very RUDE man with a India accent. I told him no one by that name lived here. His answer before I hung up on him, "If no one lives there by that name, then why do we have your number?" Unbelievable. Why aren't these collection companies being shut down???? I even get them calling with their number displayed, and then 15 minutes later one that says "Out of Area". I HATE THOSE!! When you answer, they hang up. Then 5-10 minutes later here they come again with their number. I'm going to see if I can have these numbers blocked. I have Cox Cable phone, so maybe they can/will.

The company ERC or EBS has called a ton of times from 8:05am to 1:12pm to 8:45pm... They have left messages but for the correct first name and incorrect last name so I didn't take the messages seriously. Finally I got one of the phone calls and the agent informed me that they are calling about an old debt and that I was actually the person they wanted and I had owed an outstanding debt...

Many years ago (over 7) I wasn't the greatest bill payer- now I own a half a million dollar house and only have only one credit card. $0 debt.

So needless to say my arrogance sparked an unnecessarily long debate about how the debt MUST be expired and the statue of limitations (6yrs in my state) BLAH BLAH BLAH....

A week later I request a detailed credit report BAM!!! There it was! They reactivated the debt, sporting a new account name, #, and due to them for the original outstanding amount of like $1250.00+or-.

Turns out it was actually 2 months shy of the statue of limitations and the conversation "validated" the account and so as it was reported to the credit the report was conveniently changed to the yr the acquired the debt.

Now the next steps for me are going to cost me more time and energy than the original debt was ever. Do yourself a favor- skip the calls- delete the messages or say consistantly that you are NOT the name they are looking for, and stick to that story until they "GO AWAY".

Called place of business asking for someone who does not work here

They call almost every morning at 8:30 am - EVERY MORNING - and never leave a message. I am not in debt and am not behind in any payments to anyone.  This is very irritating.

I keep getting phone calls from this number asking for Donetta Negrette.  When I call the number they have on their recording to explain I am not this person, they promise to remove my number from their database but I guess they want to keep harassing me.

They called me too, but they sound shady as hell. Is there anyone here who legitimately owed a debt to them?

I have been receiving calls from 1 800 403 7479.  They are saying they are a collection agency.  There is no need for a collection agency to be calling me.
I will not connect with the call because I am thinking it is a spam.  I am getting the calls on cell phone and house phone.

I got a call from a "Chelsey" saying they were with Enhanced Recovery Corporation, and this was an attempt to collect a debt. I have no clue who they are, but it angers me that they are calling my office phone!

Called them back and told them they had a wrong number and they apologized and removed me from their list (so she said)
