Got a text about fraud charges, sent a "2" to respond letting them know that I did not make the purchases. Then got a call from this 800 number the next morning letting me know that my card was cancelled and a new one would be coming. I then called the 800 number on the back of my card to verify all of this. They did confirm that the previous messages and call was from them and that all is well, just to look for my new card in the mail.

I did not call back 800-454-9078 but instead called the number on the back of my card.
I am glad I did because my card had been hacked as was evidenced by a $1 "test" charge made online at 4am when I was asleep.

This is not a true statement. I received a text stating there may have been a fraudulent charge on my credit card, so call this number - 800-454-9078.  They identify themselves as Chase Fraud Department - however-  if you call Chase with the number on the back of your card and inquire if there is a fraud alert on your account - the Real Chase states that they are not associated with this 800 number and that it sounds like phishing or a scam.  TO VERIFY A FRAUD ALERT - call the number on the back of your card.

Definitely spam... pretty funny that I got a text message saying to call this number about my chase account having a $49.99 charge on it that looked fraudulent... The funny part is, I don't have a Chase account....  called Chase directly(not the number that the text gave me) and reported the message that I received and asked them if (800)454-9078 was their number and they said that it was not their number... I got a call from this number and found it suspicious. I called the number on the back of my card instead and chase said that they had actually contacted me regarding a fraudulent purchase on my card. So, while the number is suspicious it turned out to be legit. When in doubt call the number on your card you'll get to the same place eventually anyways.

I received a Chase Freedom Credit card alert this morning. On returning the call to 800454-9098, the line was busy and so I called the number on the back of the card. They were able to assist and validate the transaction. Looking into the website, I found "Questions? Call (800) 454-9078 to reach a Customer Support Specialist anytime. If you prefer, you can reach us at the number on the back of your card." I think that this confirma it is a valid chase phone number.

I don't know what your purpose is in making your post, but the number is evidently legitimate.  HOWEVER, if one receives a call from this number, just call the number on the back of your credit card and ask for the Fraud Department - or more than likely they will know why you are calling.

I received a call from this number at 8:12 a.m. this morning.  No message was left.  I just now looked it up on 800 notes and saw claims that it is Chase Fraud Department's number.  I called the number on the back of my card and got a recording to verify the legitimacy of a charge made on the card yesterday.  It was a fraudulent charge and when I responded that I did not recognize it, an agent came on the line.  My card has been canceled and a replacement is being sent.

Now.  I HAVE NEVER USED THIS CARD ANYWHERE !!!!  I opened the account and transferred an amount from another card and have only been making payments to this card.  The agent told me that people randomly make up a series of numbers and create fake credit cards and try to use them.  Chase caught it as being fake because the 3 digit numbers were different.  He said my name was not associated with the charge.  He said the charge was made for a charity organization in Anaheim.  Scary, huh.

So why are you claiming the phone number is not legitimately Chase Fraud Department's?   What is your purpose in that?

I have no business with Chase, yet I got a call from them regarding fraudulent activity a "Chase Freedom account ending in 0305".  The callback number was 800-454-9078.  I didn't call the number - since I have no account with them.

When I am notified by my REAL bank about suspected fraud, I get an email telling my my card will be cancelled and a new card will be mailed to me.  I log in to the bank site and look in my messages section to verify, or call the number listed on the website.  This type of thing is easy to verify - and it only takes a few moments to do so.  I suggest we get proactive with the scammers and notify the actual fraud department of any business if they are being spoofed. (I have the email and number of the fraud department of my bank in my address book, so I can forward emails or call to verify claims right away.)  Helping your bank catch fraudsters helps us all in the long run.

I received a call from 18004549078 and I am not sure if it is legitimate.  Is it one of your numbers?  They did not leave a voice mail.  I searched for the number online to see who it was and some posters said it was Chase fraud alerting me to a fraudulent charge and other posters said it was a scam.

It may be the real number, but never talk to them IF they call you.  Instead, call the phone number listed on the back of your credit card (and ... yes .... it may well be the same number as was displayed on your caller id.  Scam artists often "spoof" numbers .... meaning they make the display on your phone display a phone number other than the one that they are actually calling from.  It much better for you to make the call and talk to a customer service rep to see if something is going on.  Scam artists love to use "fear tactics" to get your guard down and steal your info.  Don't allow them to do so.

I initiated a balance transfer yesterday to my Chase card, overnight I got a text asking me to confirm the transfer but I was asleep and didn't see it. This morning, before I even noticed the texts on my phone, I had a call from this same 800#. I don't answer unknown calls so checked the voice mail after. It was a computerized voice trying to confirm the transfer but it stated my full name and asked me to call back with a reference number. I did, same voice asked to confirm it's me simply by pressing 1, then again confirm the transaction by again pressing a number. At NO point was I asked for any identifying info aside from the call reference number so there was no way for any scammer to get any info from me. At the end they said I could again use my card so apparently it was frozen until they could determine if it was really me.
There is no way this is fake, but if you have any concerns simply don't answer or call back and deal with the consequences. No reason to argue and flame people here, it's a legit number but if you can't understand that then just don't call them. You will probably eventually get a notice in the mail.

Received a call from these folks, and yes it is Chase Fraud dept.  They didn't show their Caller ID, and I ended up not answering because I get a large number of telemarketing calls.  I did receive an email alert about a charge from Greece, which I immediately called Chase and found someone tried to charge $7000 to my account.  Fortunately it was denied. The only place I used this card recently was from Newegg.com.  But anyway,   problem resolved at chase.  not at newegg !

This is a legitimate number, like many are saying above. Received an email and a phone call about fraudulent activity on my card. When in doubt, call the # on the back of the card, which is always trustworthy. I only had to enter the last 4 of my card and it automatically directed me to the fraud department anyway. New cards are on their way.

This is truly a legitimate outbound number from Chase Credit Card systems attempting to help you to prevent fraud on your account. When their system identifies something that looks potentially suspicious, they attempt to call you to right the market, to make sure the good vendors get paid, your credit is protected, and etc.  Please do return their calls. I do not work for Chase but I am a banker. You can believe me.

Prank Call
SCAM ALERT!  Right after I deleted old accounts on my Amazon account I received a call from 800-454-9078 and the message on my machine was with regard to Credit Card Change Number....  I phoned them back in case they were from Amazon and the machine asked for the last three digits of the credit card and I made up three random numbers and the machine identified this as a non-number and asked for my whole credit card number.  So I hung up.  I contacted Amazon and this is not a number they authorize and so I reported it as a scam and was very graciously thanked after I was warned very politely that Amazon will never ask for my credit card number ever.
