They don't want your junk, junk costs them money to process. JUNK hurts them. Re-usable WORKING household items and clothing is what they collect

The Canadian Diabetes Clothesline Program operates in Canada only. The telephone reps all live and work in Canada (90% or more from the comfort of their own home) They DO NOT sell any information! And all products collected are sold (by weight) to thrift stores in Canada
Within the last year or so all calls are made from the computer. 3 numbers are automatically dialed at the same time and the first person to answer their phone is the one who gets to speak to a DIABETES EMPLOYEE, the other two calls get dropped.
It is a toll free number to make it easier for the public to remember, if you move across the country you can still call the same number and get directed to the nearest Clothesline office.
Very frustrating i agree but I simply called the number back, asked some questions and requested to have my number removed from their calling list.
I still have the option to schedule the free pick up without the hassle of a million calls every month. I guess I was lucky to get  a knowledgeable person in Calgary that had the answers to all my questions

They are able to call people that are on the DNC because they are a charity not a telemarketer so they do not fall under the same guidelines. You can have your number removed from the call list by calling 1-800-505-5525 and asking them not to call you anymore

i love these idiots who think they know how some companies work. you are so wrong it is funny. diabetes is a charity and is exempt from the do not call list as are all charities..... they are on an auto dialer so they may be calling from anywhere in canada to a pickup in your area. they have a contract with value village and they get paid more than pennies per pound, that only applies when you take your stuff to value village and say it i s for diabetes. none of the items diabetes collects goes to the states and saying on this website that you don't want them calling won't do you any good. just calll them and tell them to take you off their calling list and they will do it. i just recently left their employment and am tired of people making uneducated statements and guesses about how they are paid...... do you go into walmart and ask how much they make on each item or if the money goes to the states? they are american owned and so is costco so if that bothers you , good luck finding a place to shop. lol

as a former employee, this is not a blocking used by the people doing the calling. it is the cda and telus contract. the people on the phone can't fix anything. if you work at costco can you change the opening and closing hours. have some common s;ense people. i have friends who work there at cda. just tell them to stop calling and they will but if you say not interested that does not mean do not call anymore. Be specific

just tell the person on the phone to remove you from the calling list. they will be more than happy to do that. they don't like getting yelled at by people anymore than you would.

as a former employee, i can tell the people on the auto dialer do not like calling after 8pm either. they have no choice if they refuse they are fired. they are paid little enough as it is and diabetes treats them very badly, they get paid holiday pay every cheque and as thus can be fired at anytime for any reason. no severance, etc. it is the toronto office that decides all policy including forcing employees to work until 9pm and the dialer is not their choice either. toronto office instituted this with no regards to feed back from employees. the auto dialer will call you for 4 consecutive days adn leave a message on the fifth day. please remember the people on the phone can not change anything, they are not even allowed to update your address anymore if you have moved. they don't like these changes either but they need their jobs just like you do.

cda is a charity and they are on an auto dialer. the people on the phone have no control over what time the calls come. they are just lowest level employees and if you want changes call the toronto office. that is where the policy is made.

They don't know who is sick and who is on assisted living. I know people on assisted living who still like to donate what they can. Ask to be removed from the calling list.

They don't sell your number to any hot list.  I don't know where you got that information, or if you just made it up on your own, but it's wrong.

I've called this number before, when it just rings and hangs up, and they say the same thing, it's a new system.  Well, the system has been new for a while, and it still doesn't work.

But, they are a legit caller, and again, so NOT sell your number to any hot list.

3 times in 3 days. Don't give them anything. They will sell your phone number to a hot list and you will get more calls.

It is the Canadian Diabetes Association Clothesline drive wanting to know if you have any items (clothing or small household items) to donate.  If you call this number you can let them know you have stuff that may be picked up at your home - they will give you the date when the pick-up will occur and all you have to do is leave the stuff outside in front of your home tagged with their name on it and it will be removed on that day.  They are very prompt with their pick-ups and it means one less trip to their store/office or the dump for you!

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!! They call PLENTY of times in a week... I have had calls every week for months and when I have told them I HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE AWAY they still call over and over. Now if I DO have something to give away I put it on a free site like kijiji JUST BECAUSE they pissed me off too much by calling when my daughter is napping or calling after 830pm.
