same thing happened to me they just started calling.  but it was legit.  And the problem was about the same.  The people they were calling about filed my husbands insurance incorrectly.  But would not refile it.  So we fought back and forth and finally this company is trying to put a judgement against him.  Thing is they wont answer the phone.

It is "Healthcare Recovery Services", in my case trying to straighten out a medical bill that was not paid.  It was submission mistake over a year old by the medical services company who filed with Insurance before filing with Medicare.

And they were evidently too lazy or stupid to fix it even after I had called them to do so last year, and so they turned it over this debt collection agency.  Now I have to "fix it" all over again.

Don't ignore these calls.  It's probably a similar screw up, assuming you do pay the bills you owe.

These people have called me about an overpayment on my flexible spending account. Like dsttetexas, it's just a mistake.  The problem is that it's really hard to through to them.  They call and say, "This message is regarding an important business matter" and ask you to return the call. They also give you the option to stay on the line and speak to someone.  They put you on hold for a minute or two and then ask to leave a message.  I've never gotten a real person.  Be careful though, even if it's a mistake, it could turn into a really big problem if left unattended.

It says "unknown" on the Caller ID. The mechanical message is left with this 800 number. I don't understand, who it might be.

I THINK THEY ARE A PREDATORY COMPANY WHO RANDOMLY GETS AHOLD OF HEALTHCARE CLAIMS AND TRY TO MAKE AN EASY DOLLAR COLLECTING THE MONIES.  THEY TAKE A PERCENTAGE OF THE MONEY COLLECTED AND MOST LIKELY YOU DO NOT EVEN OWE IT.  AT LEAST THAT IS MY FIRST IMPRESSION AFTER CALLING THEM.  THEY ARE MOST LIKELY NOT WORTH CALLING AT ALL AND MAKE SURE YOU CALL THE COMPANY YOU ALLEGEDLY OWE THE MONEY TO AND NOT THEM.  IF YOU OWE A BILL, IT IS SENT TO YOUR ADDRESS BY THE MEDICAL PROVIDER, NOT TO THEM.

USE CAUTION UNTIL YOU KNOW FOR CERTAIN...THE HEALTHCARE RECOVERIES IS A COMPANY THAT HAS THE RIGHT TO CONTACT YOU AND GAIN YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

I don't understand how this can be a legitimate healthcare billing service when the company refuses to give anyone their business name or information when asked and when you google the number nothing comes up as a legitimate business information listing. That makes no sense.
It also doesn't make sense that when you actually answer the phone, its a robocall anyways. I pay to answer their call only to have to pay to call them back.

I would never give my birthdate and 4 digits of my SSN. This information may be all someone needs to change something on one of your accounts if they've stolen a piece of your mail containing the account number. Think about what your utility companies ask for when you call them? Account number and last four digits of your SSN.

I have been getting voicemails from this number for weeks.  I have not called back but it is the same fishy message with a reference number (my name spelled by a computer voice) like others are talking about.  If they are legit they certainly are doing a bad job at whatever they are trying to do.  I still don't want to call them back because the msgs sound like they shouldn't be trusted.  Did anyone get a website or another way to contact them if they are legit?

Debt Collector
Sorry folks, but this is a legitimate healthcare billing recovery company.

I just had a call from them regarding billing in Jan/Feb 2009 for 3rd party X-ray interpretation services that were requested by my local hospital during an emergency visit.  When I researched my records, I found this service had submitted billing directly to my Insurance co, and not first to Medicare.  And I had found notes that I had called this 3rd party service in February 2009 to explain this to them since I got an insurance EOB statement saying that had not received the Medicare Summary Notice and needed that before Insurance could pay any remainder.  At that time, they said they would re-submit to Medicare, and then to Insurance if needed.

Evidently, they did not, and now are sending the bills to this billing recovery company.  By checking online, I verified that neither Medicare nor my Insurance had any further submissions.  I will need to straighten this out - again!

So, you may have legitimate medical bills that were not paid due to a similar screw up in processing some where - but it is not a Scam phone call.

If you ignore this, they could file a complaint with the Credit Bureaus.  You may not be responsible to pay these bills, but you are responsible to see to it that they get paid on your behalf - or you could suffer some consequences.  Don't count on "professional courtesy write-offs".

I've gotten this call several times over the past couple months. When I pick up, I get the same message as above except the reference number spells out the name of someone I've never heard of. They don't leave a message if I don't pick up, which I find odd.

This is the number a hospital gave me...how could a hospital give a number for scammers?  I think some of you must owe money.  I've never called it, but the hospital I went to two years ago gave this number to me to call and ask about a balance I might owe.  I've been dealing with people calling and saying I owe money.  The hospital says I have no outstanding balances, but they do not handle radiologist and physcian bills that are due.

Does anyone with a different opinion have any information on them?  I doubt it's a scam.  Sounds like a bill collector.

MY MISTAKE.  The +4433901800 number is from England - not Poland.  Same info otherwise.  Don't call these idiots back.  You may even be paying $5.00 per minute just to try.

This number is also related to +4433901800.  This is an international call.  The call is coming from Poland and the caller states that, "this is not a solicitation for sales, but for a business matter and to call back on 800-516-5187.  Then a reference number is given by an automated machine which spelled out my name.  I've been calling overseas for some time now to a phone number in Poland and never a problem.  My friend used a buddies cell phone because his died out and I called that number for the first time.  Today, I received this overseas call.  Someone might be intercepting number from the phone carrier over there.  Didn't call back.  More info under 800notes for 4433901800.  It's a scam.  They'll get your info and being overseas there is nothing you can do about it.  Forget the attorney general, police, etc.  They are untouchable.  The phone companies are the only one's that can shut them down.

Just got a call from these idiots.  Left same message as above..."not a solicitation call but a business call".  The reference number was actually my name spelled out by some automated system.  Didn't call back.  I'm also on the Donotcall list - apparently?  FYI

When someone called from this number, I waited to talk to a person and tell them I was on the 'Do not call' list.  Then they told me it was about two old medical bills that I had not paid (for which I had never been billed, and thought they were written off as a professional courtesy).  One amounts was correct; the other amount was close to what my insurance said I might owe, but not quite.  If they are not legit, they have stolen some of my personal info.  I am still trying to find out if they are legit.

Don't call these people back because this is a scam. File a consumer fraud complaint w/ your State Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission. Many states, and the FTC make it easy to file a complaint online. Let's stop these scammers!

called saying they were taking over the billing for another billing company, and would not tell me the name of the other company, they finally told my they were healthcare recovery specialists, the reference number they left on the answering machine did not match what i was told over the phone. they wanted me to give a date of birth, social security number and my name to verify they had the correct person and information, i did not give any information. when i asked what date of birth they had and last 4 numbers of the social they told me by law they could not give out that information. after several attempts they finally told me they were billing for grand lake imaging, which i have never heard of. sounds like a scam.

A mechanical call.  He says "this is not a sales or solicitation call and we have been trying to reach you regarding an important business matter", gives me this phone# to call back and gives me a reference # to provide when calling.  I would like to know who/what it is before I call them.
