I received an invoice for $388.89 for toner for our company's copier that is leased. Part of our contract is that they supply the toner. This "company" United Supply Distributors, called our IT guy and asked for his name to put down in order to send the toner that was ordered. I called the number on the invoice, informed them that I wasn't paying it, and I was reporting them. The guy started yelling at me telling me not to call his company and tell him that. He threatened me by telling me he would just report us because he has it on tape that our IT guy ordered it. I told him he didn't, he had on tape him calling our IT guy. He didn't like anything I said, and yelled at me to have the toner ready for pick-up by UPS on Monday. Which I now do. I will wait and see if our UPS driver has a call tag. I am also going to go ahead and report him. Info on INV: Company Name: United Supply Distributors, 22647 Ventura Blvd., #528, Woodland Hills, CA 91364 Ph: 800-608-6030 Fax: 800-503-5051. I spoke with a man named Rick Miller.

I was looking online for a furnace part that had not been manufactured for some time, and according to all suppliers ive spoken with has been replaced with an updated conversion kit as a replacement. My search brought me to United Parts Supply website. I entered a search for my part in their inventory and was pleased to find that they had it in stock for $139. I emailed a detailed description of my part asking that it be verified before I place an order to be shipped. I wanted to match the part in detail because of the 50% restocking fee and other return policies that just seemed to way too excessive. The reply I recieved was completely "out of the can" and simply encouraged me the have faith and place the order with confidence. This I thought was pretty strange for a company that has millions of parts stocked, and has items that have not been made for over a decade. I was assuming they would also have a sizeable customer service team as well. For this, I decided to call and try for a verification, since I need the illusive part for my furnace. Darn its after business hours...guess I'll call tomorrow.
Next day comes. I log on to look up a contact number. Before placing the call, I search for my part again so I have my information together, but this time I search the part number from memory. To my surprize, I remembered the number exactly. My memory isnt usually that good, so I grab for the part to have a look, and find that I had a couple of the digits wrong. My curiossity took over immediately, so I searched a random part number, just hammered in a bunch of numbers and letters which matched up perfect to a "in stock part". WOW, thats strange, so I did it again and again, just putting in letters and numbers in no particular order and every time I get verification that the part has been located and is in their inventory for the same price as the original price quoted for the actual part I had search soo hard for.

Realizing i have encountered a scam, I search the suppliers name and found this site. This bunch is in way deeper than just toner and such supplies...If you google "comfortaire furnace parts" it will lead you to the United parts Supply site. There you will notice that they can supply you with parts for any furnace, air conditioner, ice maker, air purifier, and more. Be aware, they do not supply anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got a call -same thing-these folks are soooooooo bold with what they do. They acted as if they were from Xerox but then I got thinking about if this guy was really our technician (as he claimed!) I am definitely not paying for anything.
I called the number from this website and the person on the other end was very angry that I found out who they were and what they were doing. But I hung up but not after I told him I would be sending the supplies back and won't be paying a penny..he tried to cuss but I hung up on him in mid expletive LOL! :) Keep on keeping tabs on these guys!

I fell for their scam last year.  They just called me last week and said is this so and so and I said yes and they said how is your copier working and I said fine and they hung up.  This morning someone from there called me and said my toner was on its way.  When I was saying I hadn't ordered any toner he hung up on me.  I immediatly redialed the number he called from.  A woman answered and I asked to speak with a supervisor.  She said she was.  So I explained the situation and she said did he hear you say you don't need the toner.  I said im not sure he hung up, and then she hung up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How do you stop people like this!!!!!!!

We got EXATLY the same phone call - althought Scott Hansen told us he was our Xerox rep.  When Maurice called, our operations coordinator said she could not authorize the shipment.  Scott Hansen immediately contacted us again.  I told him that I usually order all our Xerox supplies and it was unusual to get a call from Xerox.  After my conversation with Scott, I found this site and called United Supply  - I was assured that no order was coming to our company.  The operator at United Supply wanted to know how I got their phone number (Scott Hansen had given us a bogus number).  Thank you for posting your experience - when we received the call I had a feeling it was a scam, and your posting affirmed it.

I, too, received a call from this number, but, this time it was from a man named Scott Hansen.  He confirmed our address and told us that our last quarterly shipment of toner was due to be shipped and, again, he said that someone would be calling from the warehouse because some new employees had misdirected $18,000 worth of products.  He assured me just to "yes them to death" because they just needed to confirm.  When Maurice from United Distributor Supply called to confirm, I told him that he may need to talk to the office manager because we already had 1 extra toner and I wasn't sure if we needed another.  When I transferred him, he hung up.  Because of this website, I was able to call them and I, too, spoke with Rick Miller.  I gave him the name of our business and told him that we did not want any toner shipped.  This just happened today, so hopefully, we will not be getting a shipment.  Thanks for all the info!

On Friday afternoon I received a call from Tom Jones saying that there was a problem with our last order of toner. It had gone to the wrong address and he needed to confirm our address and copier model number. All their information was correct and I confirmed everything with them, since the person in charge of ordering such things was out of the office. I was told that I would receive a call from the warehouse to confirm everything again in 10 minutes. It had something to do with new employees and policies relating to the misdirected package. I was warned to make sure that they confirmed the 'discounted rate' of $398. They did call 30 minutes later and reconfirmed all the information I was given, including the PO as 'verbal'.

At the end of this process they asked if I would be available on Monday morning. Early monday morning I got a third and final call from the company by someone named John Gibson. He reconfirmed all my information a third time, this time recording the conversation and asking me several times if I was authorized to make the order. After the call ended I went to report the strange events to the person in charge of ordering supplies, now that they were back in the office. We quickly realized it was a scam since all our toner is free based on our contract directly with Canon.

Thanks to the information on this site I was able to call back and cancel the order before it was shipped. Hopefully we never hear from these scammers in our office again. Thank you for the information.

Hi Tracey,
This is a scam.  We have a service contract with Toshiba Business Solutions and we receive our toner for free with this contract.  This company calls claiming that they took over for Toshiba Business Solutions and try to get you to buy a toner that is priced three times what staples or any other supplier would sell them for.  If you receive anymore invoices or Toners, DO NOT PAY THE INVOICE. This info came to us directly from Toshiba, they have a lawsuit going with this fradulant company Thanks
