litlow law office asked for my social And  wanted my mailing address..I told them i dont give out that information if they had a legal matter They should have already had that info .. Ive lived at the same address 30 years  and had the same social for life but this cell number for 5 years .I will wait till i recieve something via mail.

These people called asking for my son, gave a reference number to use when calling back BUT when he called back they asked for his SSN (social security number)!  NO WAY do you ever give that info out (I work for a Sheriffs office & that is the biggest mistake people make).  He refused to give them that info & they got nasty with him, doesn't sound like such a fine upstanding law firm to me!

Found this real interesting court case thought it might be of interest to people are being sued by debt collectors in any state. Hope it gives you some ideas on how to appeal if the debt collect is not following the law. I also found out that the president of Litow and Pech has legal authorship in complying with Fair Debt collection acts. I find this insulting as this firm is as crooked as they come in my opinon.

Oh yes I forgot to mention that when this firms attorney communication says this is of a legal matter this is a hidden threat and when they leave the reference number (this is a direct link to the alleged debt) it is a hidden solisitation for money and both are illegal and is a violation of the FDCPA.  
From Personal experience with this Law Firm: Always send a certified return recipt Validation letter, by law they are required to validate the alleged debt, (for god sakes don't sign any paperwork for them until they have validated and you know this debt is truley yours). Never ever communicate with this company through their 800 number. (you need a court order to have these conversations released in order to prove that the communications actually took place). save any communication from this company, wheather it be prerecorded messages on your answering machine or cell phone or written communication. Don't be surprised when they don't validate and you get a 20 day notice of garnishment or whatever, if you have disputed their claim immediately file with the court that this claim has been disputed and give them a copy of the dispute letter. The court will then make them validate their calm.
A proper dispute letter will ask the company to:
1. identify the orginal creditor
2. ask for a complete payment history starting a zero balance from the original creditor
3. Proof that they can legally collect on the alleged debt
4. Proof of stataute of limitation (most states have a time frame in which debt collectors can use the courts to collect on alleged debts).

If the don't validate lets say 30 days and they procede with court action this is a major violation of the FDCPA.

If you can actually prove that these calls are being made from this company and this company was hired by Litow and Pech PC to place these calls you can also name them as defendants in your lawsuit.

I agree that people need to pay their debts. However, I don't agree that debt collectors should be able to hassle third parties. The New TCPA regulations protect these scum bags. The TCPA does not recognise debt collectors as telemarkers. However, I have to disagree with this also, everytime the word debt collector is mentioned in an attorney communication (which this messages are) they are communicating to thousands of potential customers that they are in the business of debt collection, I belive that the TCPA needs to take a closer look at what is not said in these communications. it is not uncommon for people to contact a business and obtain information about their line of businss if they make reference (e.g. debt collector) to the company business and the person is in need of these services. Another tip: Even tho the TCPA protects these companies look at your state laws and the FDCPA many times these companies are in violation of your state laws and the FDCPA when they leave messages on third partie lines weather it be cell phone or residentail lines.

I got a new phone number and somehow they got it, but when they call the answering service picks up but  no one says anything if its that important. i recently started receiving calls from this number. i did some research and found that the call actually originates from Manpower (a temp employment agency) at 1162A E. Gannon Drive in Festus, Missouri (zip code is 63028). They evidently are contracted by Litow & Pech to make these calls. Litow & Pech is located at 1847

Keep receiving calls from this number. When I answer, nobody says anything or music plays and plays and plays. How do you get whoever it is to stop?

They wont take my BS or anything else either! With the economy the way it is today and collections not EVEN willing to work with someone who is trying to pay what they owe, they can Eat S!*t as far as I'm concerned! I nearly put myself in the hospital attempting to pay off all my debt but these Jerks, along with others, do NOT want to work with you to get money owed! Now that I am over their calls, they can stick it! I dont recognize the number, I dont answer it.....PERIOD! Lucky for you that you have a means of paying your bills, and maybe you work for these assbags!

lol you are all ridiculous. any legal action taken against you was spelled out clearly in your original agreement with your creditor. Litow and Pech is one of the best collection agencies in the country to work with. They won't take your b***s***. They won't put up with you having direcTV when you have bills to pay, but when you man up and start making a real effort you would be surprised what those people will do for you.

Received call. No message. I called back. Previous owner of this cell phone number apparently has some issues. I reported to the company that this is a company issue Blackberry and no longer the number of the person they are attempting to reach. They are rude.  Asked them to remove my number from their system.  We will see if they do.

Keep getting calls on my answering machine from this number asking for me to call them back.  They do not tell what it is they are referencing, so I will not return their call.  I would report them to the BBB if I knew where they were from and what good it would do.

I had Harrasing phone calls but they went further.Served papers and Now Garnished Wages.Going to court Friday.Now out the Blue Served My Mom and Dad Papers.It is Crazy and Criminal.

Got a notification from Google (I use Google Voice as the phone number I give out) that I had a missed phone call from this number. After looking into it, it is Litow & Pech (collection law firm). I don't know how they got my number, cause I don't give it out to just anyone. They are using some shady practices.

They want the last 4 digets of my social security #.

These guys are a real pain.  My fiance's ex opened and ran up credit cards in his name when he was out of state working WITHOUT his consent or knowledge.  In the divorce decree, she was to take responsibility for the accts.  Now one particular acct has turned it over to these guys and they keep calling and calling and we just hang up on them as soon as we answer and this has been going on for 3-1/2 years.

I called them back and told them to remove me otherwise I'm pressing charges. They said it was an old number but I have had it for 10+ years. Press charges if they call you.

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.  

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.  

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

Someone keeps calling my daughters phone and asking for Harry Hopper.  I called them back a few months ago to tell them I would be reporting them and to take the number out of their system.  The phone calls started again.
