When in doubt call the number on the back of yoru card. The worst that will happen is they can confirm or deny the fraud you were warned about. In this case the fraud was confirmed, through calling the number on the back of the credit card (not the number they gave).

2 fraudulent transactions ($1900 and $600) that were declined as well as a call to us letting us know.

21Nov2011, Also got a call from "Manjit" CIBC Fraud Department, voicemail was left asking to call 1-800-646-2527. Called the phone number on the back of my CIBC Visa, entered my card number, and was connected to the Fraud Deparment. They confirmed that "Manjit" had called from that number and wanted to confirm if a $3100 purchase I made was legit. Just call the number on the back of your credit if unsure.

Got calls from the number.

I just got the same thing... somebody calling from CIBC fraud services, telling me to call that number. I checked with CIBC directly and that number is one of their's.

So, bottom line, this is a legit CIBC fraud department number.

But, anybody who gets this and isn't sure should just call the number on the back of their card.

I got a voice mail this afternoon from a lady (Luisa) claiming she is from CIBC Visa fraud department and asking me to call 1-800-646-2527 asap before tomorrow noon.
After checking above on this website, I decided to call CIBC phone number shown on my CIBC credit card and to ask them whether 1-800-646-2527 is one of their numbers.
They responded "yes it is, and we can switch your current call directly to that department", and then the people at that department asked me questions to verify whether my recent $2900 transaction was really made by mine (yes it was).
Bottom line: this number is not a scam. You do not have to trust this, simply follow what I did: call the CIBC number from the back of your card, and ask them to switch you to that department.

Rita said she was from CIBC VISA fraud services, had the name of an adult in the household with a "reference number", very urgent that we call back.
[No-one in the family has a card with this outfit.]
Called the number to check info - said they were CIBC Visa in Montreal and I was speaking with one of their agents. Agent said maybe someone was trying to apply for a card under the name, need to confirm some things. At that point, I terminated the call.
After checking above on this website, probably a scam. Will check with a bank branch in the next day or so and report this scam to CIBC.

Spoke to CIBC directly, through their direct line. Got in touch with fraud services. This is not one of their numbers, but was identified as a scam. Caller had left a message stating a "reference number" and false name to  ask for. CIBC says they do not leave this kind of info on answering machines. Avoid contacting anyone at this number!!!!

Seems to be from CIBC credit card services.
Called requesting info - I called Visa straight away and they confirmed it was one of their agents.
