Got a call from 800-655-9902 at 7:50 PM.  I let it go to voice mail, no message left.  Strange call, when it rang it just rang continuously, not the usual ring and stop, ring and stop.

This is called "Leak".. When the last time did you give your phone number to the company before? so that we know exactly where and which does it leak.

I'll name the few company from the last time I gave out my phone number.

* Pepboy
* WalMart
* AllState
* DMV

All in from Rochester, NY

Does that narrow it down? Hope to hear it from you!

I got a call from these guys (did not answer, I never do unless I know them) and recently had work done from Pep Boys as well about a week earlier.  I will NOT ever go to them again.  Not only did they charge me $100 to do nothing, they give my information out to someone.  I don't care if it's a survey or a lottery, I did not say they could give out my information.

I already submitted my complaint to the National Do Not Call Registry.

I received a phone call on my cell, but missed the call, because was away from it at that time.  When I called back, the automatic service picked up that call and said something in Spanish, and then "Press 2 for English".  Then, message continued saying something about pre-paid card, so I hang up the phone.  I just bought tires from Pep Boys last week.  Is there a connection, because I see lots of comments about Pep Boys?  What should we do?

Caller Hung up on me, google search says it is a mortgage refinance company.  I do not wish to receive any solicitation calls and am on the do not call registry.  It appears that this company is trying to get around the rules by just not leaving a message and hoping that some people will call them back.

YOU HAVE TO REPORT THEM TO THE DONOTCALL WEBSITE!
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

the do not call laws do work -

The real problem is 99% of the people who post complaints here about unwanted calls NEVER BOTHER TO REPORT THEM to the DONOTCALL website!  They whine that the law does not work - but won't take a minute to file the report and just expect the DONOTCALL staff to "KNOW" they are receiving these calls.

IT TAKES MORE THAN ONE COMPLAINT!

Here is proof that when EVERYONE files the complaints that the DO NOT CALL LAWS WORK

Telemarketer Shut Down For Violating "Do Not Call" Rule
Court imposes five-year ban on telemarketing to consumers

By James Limbach
ConsumerAffairs.com
July 30, 2009

A financial services telemarketer accused of violating several requirements of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Do Not Call Rule -- from calling hundreds of thousands of consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry to failing to transmit accurate caller ID information -- has settled the government's charges and is banned from telemarketing to consumers for five years.
In November 2007, as part of a multi-case crackdown on Do Not Call violators, the government charged Global Mortgage Funding, Inc. and its owner, Damian Robert Kutzner, with unlawfully calling consumers on the Do Not Call Registry in an attempt to sell financial products, including mortgages and related financing services.
The complaint also contained charges of violating the FTC's Do Not Call Rule by failing to transmit accurate caller ID information, failing to pay fees required to access the Registry, and abandoning calls by not connecting consumers to a representative within two seconds after they answered the phone.
Following a lengthy investigation by the FTC, the lawsuit was filed and litigated by the Department of Justice on the Commission's behalf.
The agreed-upon court order bans Kutzner and anyone working with him from participating in telemarketing to consumers, and from helping others involved in telemarketing to consumers, for five years.
It also permanently bans Kutzner from violating the Telemarketing Sales Rule, as well as its Do Not Call provisions, which include calling consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry, failing to provide accurate caller ID information, calling consumers who have said they do not want to be called, and abandoning calls.
The order imposes a $6 million civil penalty against Kutzner and Global Mortgage and imposes reporting and record-keeping provisions to help monitor Kutzner's compliance. Finally, the order ensures that Global

Mortgage will not resume its operation or benefit from its past conduct.
Both Global Mortgage and Kutzner had a previous run-in with the FTC, which sued them in 2002 for allegedly sending "spoofed" e-mails that offered mortgages and purported to be from legitimate banks.
Global and Kutzner signed a consent decree in 2003 in which they agreed to pay over $60,000 to resolve that litigation and accepted a court order prohibiting them from future "spoofing" and other misrepresentations.

i spoke with a representative of this entity, after being asked for by first name and not expecting a call from a voice i didnt recognize, i told them they had the wrong number, the man seemed real dissapointed, so what.  i had also been to pep boys recently, prior to receiving this call and there is a voice prompting you to choose language, pretty sure this is a bill collector or a telemarketer that pep boys probably sold my info to. Boooooooooo pep boys as if you didnt overchargecharge me enough to do nothing your pimping my name too.

It is a Pep Boys number. I used them last week. They were nice enough, but the phone calls have to stop! I don't know what PIN number they're talking about, and there isn't one on the invoice or the reciept. Also, I agree, ENGLISH should at the VERY least, be option number ONE. I will NOT press 2 for English. I almost wish I could find the PIN number so i could tell them that!

First time called from this number.  I always report a complaint to the FTC online.  I never answer what I don't recognize.  But I really appreciate this web site for the info - tried the reverse phone lookups, they give you nothing...  It's nice to have this site for the info alone, but even with just a phone number, I always file a complaint with the FTC,

I too have received several calls on my cell phone from 1-800-655-9902 and no voice mail was left. I called the number and as reported by others, there was an auto response system that requested you press '2' for English and then asked for a PIN.

Coincidentally, as reported by one other, I had my car serviced recently at Pep Boys and left my cell phone number as a contact number. Hmmm.

Survey
Recieved a call several evenings in a row from this number. I was not home and this evening they called again. It was a survey from Pepboys were I had carried my car the other day. Glad they called because I will not recommend them after they loosened the bolts that hold the rotor on my front wheel drive vehicle because I would not allow them to run uneccessary charges up for me on parts that passed inspection 3 days later at my regular mechanic who found and tightened the bolts for me and wanted to know who else had worked on my car... I told him I took it in to Pepboys to have an alignment done...last time they will preform work for me.. I will go to Merchants tire from now on!@!!!~
