Debt Collector
This company calling is Associated Credit and Collections in Rockledge Fl.  They will call me every 10-15 minutes from 8am to 9pm daily however I do get a break on Sundays where they only call every horror so.  They will never leave a message from thev1-800 number but this guy Shane will call me from his cell phone and leave messages saying, " I've been trying to reach you girl, it's been so long dice I've talked to you". The messages are said we were long lost friends and he's trying to get back in contact with me.  Other times he will leave messages calling me by another name. I assume hoping I will call bak to tell him he has the wrong number and then he can hit me with arguing about something he thinks I owe. I had an accident several years ago and had $137 colection that was actually paid by my insurance but somehow got reported as unpaid.  The physicians office corrected the error and informed the colection agency but in the meantime these rude SOB's called me constantly and threatened me with everything you can think of. One of them on me call even threatened to come pay e a visit. All this over $137.  Needless to say my husband and I filed a police report and we didn't hear from this company for a long time after that.  Be careful if this company is trying to collect a debt. Make sure first that you owe it, and then if it's past the statute of limitations in your state.

I am very sorry that you feel that we are all "deadbeats".  My hospital bill ended up at this collection agency because I was working with the hospital on an issue of charging me for a test I had made clear I did not want completed.  Just because something ends up at a collection agency does not make you a "deadbeat" or that your "milking the system".  That was a very ignorant comment you made yourself.  Sometimes things in life get in the way.  For example I made too much money to be approved for any type of financial assistance, I was only on a Per Diem status with my job at the time so therefore did not qualify for their insurance, and went to the hospital on Valentine's Day because my husband and I were having a miscarriage and wanted to make sure it was not a topical pregnancy or tubal pregnancy.  Pretty much.....wanted to make sure I wasn't going to die.  I do agree with some points of your post that most people do not understand that you are just doing your job but your post made you and people of your profession live up to the Jack A** standard that most people view.  The gal I spoke with at ACCB was very pleasant and they have not called me at work or abused any form of the law in regards to collecting a debt.  Again I agree with you that collection agencies are not allowed to say who they work for, why they are calling, or a few other things until they verify that you are you.  That is for the person's security and privacy.  You wouldn't want your doctors office calling your home and leaving a message regarding your test results or procedures you need scheduled (ie, PAP, bloodwork for possible diseases, biopsies, ect).

I do want those researching this company to know that I am still in the middle of looking more into this company before paying them to be sure they do report to the credit bureaus.  You should never pay over the phone with either credit card or bank transfer but instead pay with a money order or cashiers check.  The lady I spoke with provided me with their PO Box so that I could mail my payment to them.  She also went into great detail about when they obtained my debt, how much I owed, their business practices for paying it back, offered options, and a few other things.  I think that we are all become a little too defensive when faced with these kind of issues and need to look at the bigger picture that we did obtain services and do need to pay them back.  If someone was rude with you then I am very sorry and I do understand your frustration but the bigger thing you should be worried about is not if they were rude but if they are actually reputable and report to the credit bureau once you pay your debt.  Also you need to keep in mind that until your debt is paid in full a collection agency CANNOT report to the credit bureaus that you are making payments.  It just the way the cookie crumbles.

I answered the phone and a TOM ROBBINS was on the other line. He began talking down to me, insulting me and my family and threatening to take further actions if I did not pay a balance today when I told him that I did not appreciate how he was speaking towards me and that if he had any matters to discuss he can propose a professional letter and that would be the only way I would correspond with him or his company he called me stupid. I said a few choice words and hung up. Immediately, I called the FTC and filed a report.

I have recieved several calls from this company, the rude person making the call had to first hear how i ansewered the phone with a business name, she then asked for someone i have never heard of and i informed her of that. I asked what number was she calling and when she repeated the number i advised you called the wrong number, she said i was lying and that i had to take care of an outstanding debt, lady i don"t know who you are looking for and threating someone will not get you much help from the public, but if you insist on making an a-- out of yourself you can contact our company attorney and i'm quite sure he can help you out with some type of retibution for harassing phone calls, early in the conversation i started the phone recorder for the attorney because i really don't believe this nut will stop until we take some type of legal action.  This is a business phone, we do not know who there talking about and there calling the wrong phone number threating. I believe the posts from this ACCB company are not credited and anyone giving any type of check or credit card information over the phone are crazy. I f you do that then you deserve to be ripped off, never let anyone intimiadate you. scams are scams and i truly believe this is one,

I want to first say, I worked for this company directly but understand this was not really a choice. i had to take care of my family and they were the first to call me back and say you are hired. I was only there for a month and a half before I left due to I couldn't take how they tried to make me harrass people when everyones times are hard.

However, from the inside here are some tips:

The company is Associated Credit & Collection Beareau, 914 Eyster Blvd, Rockledge FL

They get their debts from Apartment communities, and Health First hospitals.  They will call you tell you that you ahve to pay this and if not they will attempt many different threatning strategies.

They will tell you that they are on the phone with an attorney on the other line (Sean Hunter) usese this alot! Trust me I have heard him say this first hand.  They will tell you that they are going to put it on your credit. Yes it may go on there, most likely it already is, however I am sure you already know that.  If you tell them when they call these exact words "Cease and Desist all further communications" they legally have to stop per the FDCPA.  Also you can mail them a letter Cease and desist letter. Do it certified if you can that way you have receipt that they received it.  Keith Jackson he is the manager.

However one more tidbit these names they are giving you are alias. They are not the real names. I was Mrs. Page If i ever called you please I apologize. I udnerstand that times are hard but also understand that I was just doing my job. HOwever I do know I never threatened anyone, with any recourse, other than it could affect your credit.

When it comes to the bills you owe. Call the hospitals directly if it is a hospital bill. Alot of times they will settle for a lot less than what this company will. Trust me customers would always call and say that they had spoken with the biller directly and it had been settled for much less.

REPLY TO POT MEET KETTLE

I am sure they do have a horrible BBB rating because collection companies are too smart to get suckered into paying for a good or excellent BBB rating. Do you watch the news at all or investigative reports????? The BBB has been blasted about 6 times in the past 18 months for how they con companies into paying them for a better rating and when the investigative shows tried to confront BBB they plead the 5th and ran off camera with the tails between their legs. BBB STANDS FOR BUY BETTER B***S***!!!!! You are just probably another uneducated individual that cant pay your bills and you are looking for an excuse to B!TCH AND COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING.

It makes me sick reading all these pathetic comments from you deadbeat losers that dont pay your bills. All this company seems to be doing is trying to help you show you the benefits of paying your debts which is the honest thing to do. Also since none of you people have ever worked for a collection company you are not aware that a collection company CAN NOT state there buisness name until you identify who you are. So do not claim that company is a scam company simply because you dont understand the policies. For all you that commented on this site please go get some education in the field before you want to come on here talking s***. It is probably the same reason that none of you are paying your bills because you are all the ignorant to understand why it is a debt that is valid and it is not a scam. Yes I am a debt collector which I am sure you have asked yourself already while reading this. So yes I do know and understand all the laws for our industry this day in age you have to be more assertive to help you deadbeats understand why these bills need to be paid because there will be actions taken against you to protect our client. Lets be honest if you deadbeats started paying your bills this country wouldn t be in such a bad hole as it is in now. Final comment pick yourself up wipe yourself off look in the mirror understand that you can make your life better and a better you starting today by resolving your debts to help yourself and your country and stop milking the system having myself and the other hardworking people out there pay your way.

i just recieved a call from this company the guy said his name was "tom robins". he was calling about an apartment my husband and i rented and left owing a water bill and payment for replacing the carpet. i admit i owe this bill and explained to him that i recently lost my job so he asked me "well what about your old man" i told him not to refer to my respectable husband as an old man and that he is doing everything he can to keep our heads above water so he asked if i could borrow the money from somebody to pay the debt and i told him that i had nobody and then he continued with the whole thing that there has to be somebody willing to give me $178 to pay the debt. i further explained to him that the only people i have are struggling themselves. i told him that my parents are in bankrupcty and my sister has stage 4 ovarian cancer and her husband died leaving her with 3 kids to raise on her own and all she has is her diasbility check and his response was "well borrow it from her she is gonna die anyways she cant take it with her. all through out this call i was never rude and i really am not trying to make excuses for a debt i owe but for him to make that comment about my sister was truly appalling. my sister is only 38 years old and has 2 small boys and a teenage daughter she has more to worry about then some small debt i owe. i called and spokw to a "supervisor" which was the same guy who answered the phone and just changed his last name. these people are a joke and so is there office. there has to be something we can do to stop people from treating us with so much disrespect.

I am not so sure that they are a collection agency - could be. I think they are credit card scammers and posing as such in order to get information - they probably already have my credit card numbers - since that information was lost in intellectual properties theft from Bank of America 4 years ago - but in order to proceed with theft they need more information.
I got into a shouting match with this guy - I deliberately raised his level and still could not get any information about him. He claimed that he would be violating federal law to release his information - unfortunately for him, I know the law, and so from there on I knew he was a scam

I have a recording of the conversation.

I intend to find out who the caller is. Any readers of this can interpret this as a direct threat. I intend to do what I have to do and spend as much money as  needed to be in personal contact with this exact staff person. It will not take me long. I do not appreciate what this person said to me and within a very short time I will be standing right in front of him.
Too bad he did not do a background check on me before he called attempting to get information about one of my children.
I am older, I am dying of cancer -- and Katie bar the door - I have been looking for a first class a***ole before I hit the pine box-- looks like he is the lucky man!
Dear sir if you are reading this ? which I am sure you are- any good scammer would look at the responseses- Well,  I just want to say you are going to be surprised !

I received a phone call from this number at work i refused the call because i did not know who lady was.She called again and i stated that this was my work number and not to call me again and hung up.They then called back. Lady stated her name to be Emma and that she was a friend calling for me. The phone operator told them that i was unavailable at the moment, Emma then stated that she knew i was there and to stop being a liar. Emma belittled my coworker and i then told them to transfer the phone call to me. When i answered Emma had told me that i was very immature refusing her phone call.I told her that i stated once before that she is not to call me at work, she stated she will call me as much as she wants and harass me at work until i become a big girl and pay my big girl bills.  She told me i had a $200 outstanding debt and she needed payment on this now. I asked her why this money was owed and i then realized it was a bill i had forgotten about. I asked her to send me a paper statement and that i would gladly pay the amount in full once i received a statement. She refused to send a letter and demanded i pay her now. I told her i didn't have that money at the moment, she then stated that i was a low life piece of s*** because of where i worked and that she knew i had student loan debt as well looking at my credit report, she stated that i was an idiot for going to school and still working retail. I ended up paying some of the debt to stop the calls.

The number keeps calling me saying one of my friends (and the name they gave was indeed one of my close friends) put my number down for reference and asked me to get a hold with my friend to contact them. I did call my friend who probably already changed number for the same reason so we did not get a chance to talk. One of the people I spoke to called Emma, and all of the them sounded rude and refused to give any further information. My suggestion: do not pick up the call from this number EVER!
