THIS IS A CONFIRMED SCAM!!! Our business received this "final notice" fax (though we had not ever received any previous) saying that our business website was to expire TODAY?! First, I called to get a little more information and the gentlemen told me that we had previously did a 5 year subscription which was about to expire and another 5 years would be $350 and 10 years would be $450. I told him I would call him back.  Then I called our website company and asked them how we get billed and what not and also confirmed that our domain name ACTUALLY doesn't expire until a year from now and that they bill our broker dealer who then bills us. We have NEVER had anything to do with this company! I called back and the same gentlemen answered. I proceeded to tell him what for but he said very quickly that he'd take our name off their list and hung up on me.  This is so sad. Why can't low, slimy scams like this be stopped?!

This company is a scammer. There have been complaints for years and nothing is done to help people keep their hard earned money. Disgusting vultures!

Today, 11-15-12 I received the same fax as described above.  In the last 3 months I als received 4 emails telling the same B.S..  Our domain is good through 2019..  I called the 800 # and they claimed I registered the name with them 5 years ago.  We have had the name over 10 years now.  When I questioned this they hung-up.

Our company just received a fax this morning regarding the registration of our domain. I thought it was strange they would have sent a fax and no other from of advance notification despite the fact that it was a "final notice". Thought it was bogus but thankfully the comments from this site definitely convinced me not to bother calling the number.Recieved fax from 1-800-690-1269 saying my Domain name has expired and to register they do have a web page www.domainrestistrar.us.com which comes up but don't be fooled this is a scam.
and i got scam for 350.00

Thank you for all the warnings.   We just got a fax today that the domain will expire on same date.  I searched and found all these warnings from concerned people.  Now I can disregard this message and go on with our business.

Fraud!!!!!! Dan Fuller Extension 897 could not explain why he was asking for $300 for five years and $350 for ten years.  He hung up on me when I asked additional questions.  I called back and he forwarded me to his supposed supervisor Thomas Young at extension 888.  Dan told me that my number automatically goes to him each time I call as it is identified.  That must be why Dan and Thomas have not answered the fifty or so phone calls I've made throughout the day.  Reported to the authorities.

I guess its still happening. My company received the fax today. I googled the only thing I could find (on the legal looking paper) an 800 phone number. I am so glad these posts were here. I was going to forward it to my attorney and that would have resulted in attorney fees etc. After reading these posts I will forward it to the garbage can. Thank you everyone !

Received the same fax.  Called. They said I could renew for 5 years $300 or 10 years $350. Asked them to hold to get payment and they hung up.  Did further research and came across this website.  Thanks everyone for the warnings.

Our company received a notice that our domain name was to expire and we needed to respond by 12-21-2011. And also, it said this was the final notice. So I called 1-800-690-1269  (Domain Protection Services) and told them I reveived a domain expire notice. Then I told them I checked the WHOIS database for our domain with the tool at http://dwhois.net/ and saw that our company domain doesn't expire until June of 2012. They quickly then changed the tune of the story to "If you don't want to register the .US website (example http://weatherchannel.US) then you can disregard this notice."  This is a scam.

We received this letter, and when I asked they why we needed to pay this price they said "it will be in the documentation", I asked again and they hung up on me. It was just a scam of course, but this scam has an address 130 Church St. Suite 280, New York, NY 10007 and a telephone number 1-800-690-1269 and 1-866-475-2904.

I guess New York doesn't do anything about criminal activity, since this is the 4th company with some troubling marketing / scare tactics being used. Move over Florida NY is the new fraud capital.

The same fax came in today to our office. The domain name in question wasn't our active domain name, but one that could be assumed to be ours. Nice try, but no biscuit. Their "Reply Deadline" is today - we're given so much time to consider their scam.

Don't fall for this nonsense. It's bogus, and as previous posters have stated, all they want is your money.

I received a fax and email stating that our domain name was expiring today and would be released to someone else. I couldn't reach the person who manages ours so I returned the call and they told me I needed to pay the $35 by credit card to keep it. We don't have a company credit card so I gave them my personal card number and they charged $350 instead of $35 and later I found out that our domain name doesn't expire until 2010. This was a scam but my credit card company wasn't much help and wouldn't take the charge off, even though no money has chnged hands yet, but told me to call those people and cancel the transaction. They aren't answering the phone so I can't very well cancel the transaction. This doesn't make sense.

The exact same thing happened to me.  I am still fighting with my credit card company over the charges which I cancelled and was even given a cancellation number from the domain company.  However, I have called repeatedly to ask for a cancallation receipt and have been told it was sent (which it wasn't), have had to leave a message but never get a return call, or have been hung up on when I challenged them about not receiving a receipt.

Fax-spamming (as opposed to other kinds of spamming) is against the law. $1000 a pop, if I recall right, and people =do= collect. If you can find the perp. I can't believe these particular people have been able to get away with this for this long. Maybe the New York address is bogus (and the 800 number is in Hungary...)

Same same same.  Received fax "FINAL NOTICE" -- deadline expire date 3.17.10 (today) INTELLECTURAL PROPERTY NOTIFICATION citing U.S. Legal Code Title 15.  It is the United States Code -- not United States Legal Code.  I called the 800.690.1269 several times.  Recording:  "Welcome to Domain Protection Services -- dedicated to live support."  What a joke.  I held 5 minutes -- got another recording of high call volume, leave my name & number and they would call me back.  I checked w/company who does my website and my domain is good for months.  What a horrible scam this is.  These people are dangerous because the fax includes legal terminology most people don't understand and can be intimidating.  I have wasted enough time on this -- am reporting them -- not sure to whom until I research it -- but these people need to be stopped.
