1-800-707-2021 for a free "wellness coaching" service from my employer. They
said they were from United Health Care.

That is not correct.  I have United Health Care through my employer.  They do this every year.  Since my employer is self insured (foots the bills for our healthcare), they are very motivated to keep you healthy.  We get paid appox. $350/year to use these benefits - wellness coaching, etc.  I came in here because I didn't recognize the number - but UHC Wellness coaching is a very real thing.

No health insurance company, in any dept, would ever ask people for their personal information over the phone, for any reason. And my health insurance, which isn't United Healthcare and never has been, would never call me on weekends or after business hours, and they'd definitely never try to sell me crap.  No one should be stupid enough to give their information out to anyone over the phone.  The excuse about HIPAA laws is bull.  It's just a phishing expedition.  Nice try.  I don't even have United Healthcare and I'm getting their robocall harassment.  They're sure not going to scam me, but I am getting sick of the calls to  my unlisted phone number, only used for Internet, which I never give out to any company, office, or website.

If this is legitimate and not a scam, why are you people harassing people who don't even have that insurance, claiming they filled online applications for United Healthcare when they never did? And how are you getting  unlisted phone numbers which are only used for Internet and never given to companies or on websites??? I told the mumbling idiot who called me the first time to stop calling me and that I had Highmark insurance and never did any application, and of course they just called again three weeks later with the same scripted robocall.

If this really is a wellness program, they have no reason to be leaving robocalls for me, claiming I filled out online applications for United Healthcare, which I never did, since I have Highmark through my husband. This is  only a scam, especially since my insurance company's customer service would never call on a weekend and no one has my unlisted home phone number which is only for Internet and never given out.

This is indeed a telemarketing scam, since they left 2 robocalls on my house phone this month.  They claimed I did an online application for United Healthcare, which I didn't since I have Highmark through my husband! I called back the first time when I got their mumbling robocall, since it's my unlisted house phone which I only use for Internet and never ever give out to any company for any reason.  I told the guy I have insurance elsewhere and didn't fill out any application and never to call again, since I'm on the worthless do not call list.  Of course three weeks later "Rachel" left the same scripted robocall message.

I got a garbled robocall message supposedly "about my application for United Healthcare insurance", which I never applied for since I get insurance through my husband and it isn't United Healthcare.  The number on my caller ID showed up as 561-705-1814 and their  message said to call 888-672-0606. I called them back and a man mumbled and asked if I had insurance. I told him I'm on the Do Not Call list (that worthless thing that does nothing) and never to harass me again, and I hung up.  I don't know how they got my unlisted  number that I only use for Internet and never give out to anyone.  If they call again, I'll report them to my attorney general's office.

I worked for the call center that offers the wellness coaching on behalf of UHC. They are not a scam. Wellness coaching is a part of your medical benefits and they want you to take advantage of it. If you do not want to receive the calls, kindly tell the dialer that you are not interested and then verify your DOB and address. We need this for HIPPA and then they will put you on the NO list. Otherwise call the number they leave on your voicemail and let them know you are not itnerested, verify HIPPA etc. The dialers work on a random dialer, which is why you might get so many calls. it's not just wellness coaching calling from that number of your caller id, it's other departments of UHC that are calling too.

A caller from this number claiming to be a United Healthcare rep, called my husband claiming he needed his zip code and birthdate to enroll him in a United Healthcare program of some sort.  My husband talked to a United Healthcare rep. the following day, who said they will not call anyone asking for personal info., and don't have any "programs" that they would be calling to enroll people in.  He said they would look into it, and also said that it sounds like a scam to get your health insurance information so someone can pose as you when they seek medical care, and use YOUR insurance.  Do not give the caller any info.!

I used to have United Healthcare so maybe that's who called me, 800-707-2021 showed up on the missed call log and no message was left.

I don't have caller id but someone called claiming they were from United Healthcare. They wanted to speak to my husband about some healthcare benefits that he may not be aware of. He was not available so I asked if they wanted to leave a message. They would not speak to me about it which is weird. They gave me 800-707-2021 as a call back number.

I have United Healthcare and I just received a call from this number but they didn't leave a message.  This number has been on my machine quite a bit over the last couple of days.

I received a call yesterday.  I was out.  They would not tell my wife why they were calling.  I returned the call today.  They said they are making calls for United Healthcare.  They ask for your month & day of birth.  They said it was a HIPA requirement.  I did not provide my info.  I asked why they were calling.  She said the UHC was offering various wellness programs and would provide a coach that would contact me weekly.  The programs were for weight management, tobacco, stress, etc (8 total).

It is not a scam it is the United Health Care Wellness Coaching program.  It is a Telephonic wellness coaching program.   The personal information is zip code and month and day of birth after they provide the year.  Then a few basic health questions.   The reason spouses cannot be really talked with about the program is due to HIPAA laws.

Im updating my earlier post above. I contacted United Healthcare and this number is legitimate. It is a wellness program being offered to members at no cost. I still told them I did not want to be solicited by any offers of any kind and they removed me. Hope this clears it up for everyone.

I have received at least 2 calls per week for a month from 800.707.2021. They leave a message that they were calling about some wellness program authorized by my employer. I finally asked my benefits coordinator about it and they have no knowledge of this company nor would they ever authorize any employee solicitations. I have United Healthcare and plan to escalate this to them on Monday. Sounds like a scam especially when I tried to call the number back and get no answer.

I got a call from the number 800-707-2021 and they said they were from the U.S. Government wanting people on disabiality to do different types of work for the government, and they would work you 20 hours a weeks so it wouldn't affect your Social Security check and they would train you for which ever type of job you chose, and would provide you with a computer so you could work at home. I just hung up on them, because they would not give me any info on them so I could look them up to see if they were legit.

I just got this call. I called the number back and it was a recording congratulating me on taking the first step to a healthy life style.

I heartily second don't-ever-do-it's reply. In countries with national health care where care cannot be denied, this service is used as part of preventive medicine but in the USA with insured health care, the info gathered may be used against you in the future to deny claims or coverage. Furthermore, the info will surely be passed on to the next company should your employer change insurance companies or be sitting in some computer waiting to be hacked.

The so-called "wellness coach" works for the insurance company, and they are there to protect their employer's interests. Any benefit to the insured (that's you) is purely coincidental. Information gathered by this "coach" is shared with the insurance company and can be used against you to for example to deny coverage or increase premiums.

THIS IS A VERY BAD THING. If you think the insurance company cares more about your health than their profits, better you should consult with a psychiatrist than a "wellness coach".

this is not a scam.  I called it back and this is what I found out.
Wellness Coaching is offered through united healthcare and paid for by your employer - it is totally free to you.  If you just tell them that you do not wish to participate, they will not call you back.  If you do chose to participate - you will have a series of phone calls from your "wellness coach" - they are FREE.  United Healthcare does not want your money - they take enough from our paychecks already.
This could be a good service, for someone with alot of health issues or maybe the elderly.  
Yes, they are calling from a telemarketing office, and they were hired by United Healthcare.  The telemarketer will not pressure you to participate.  She was very nice when I said that this service was not for me.  She assured me that I would not hear from them again, and if I needed more info on Wellness Coaching, to check out United Healthcare's website.

I have united healthcare too and I received a phone call from this number at least 10 times in the last week.  I do not answer this call because if united healthcare usually will not call you unless there is a problem which is highly unlikely they don't deal too much with the public.  This very well could be a phishing scam who have hacked into the united healthcare system and stole there contact numbers and are calling people for there information so that they can use it against them I encourage noone to give out any personal information about themselves or anyone else.  The insurance company already has all of your personal information and it should not be asked again unless it is a an application.

I picked up when it called and no one was on the line so I called back and the machine says thank you for calling "wellness coaching" please hold blah blah blah so it's some telemarketer breaking the law I'm sure

Call a known United Healthcare number and ask them if they called you and why.

Got a call on my cell but did not answer it noting that it was from a toll free number. I am on a no call list. I do have United Health Care Insurance but should not have received a call from them that late at night.
