Debt Collector
I get calls from this number but caller id only says 'call'.  The guy leaves a message but he talks so fast, I can't understand much of what he says.  His message is how I got the phone number.  He didn't leave his name, nor did he say what company he was representing.  He just said he was calling to collect a debt and that I needed to call him back immediately.  He gave a reference number and an extension number.

After I got the information from his call, I deleted the message.

All I know is that if these debt collectors treat me rude, I won't talk to them.

For the person that said that these debt collectors must identify themselves, who they are collecting for and whatever,,,,,,, it is rare that any of these debt collectors who call our home do that.  99% of them do not.

For those of you who say that if I paid my bills, debt collectors wouldn't be calling me.  True, but until you have walked in my shoes, keep your sad opinions to yourself.  I was diagnosed with cancer, and have no health insurance.  The current administration has put so many people out of work, it is beyond scarey.  My husband has had very little work since October of 2010.  Up to that point we had excellent credit and current on all of our bills.  Things have changed a great deal in the last year.  When he gets work, we pay what we can but there is never enough to go around.  We don't get unemployment because we are self employed.  We don't get welfare because we have the wrong last name.  We don't get any sort of benefits or help from anyone.  We don't plant ourselves on freeway exits with signs begging for money.  I don't qualify for disability because the current administration has made that impossible for a whole bunch of people who deserve it.

I pray everyday for those who are like my family,,,, unemployed and behind on bills.............. will it get better?  I believe it will if the current administration is cleaned out of the White House this next election.

Sally has called me twice.  She said that she is from IC Systems attempting to collect a debt.  She keeps telling me that I could settle my debt with the company for half but that I have to pay the entire half now.  I told her that I don't have that kind of money and she suggested that I borrow it from a retirement fund or something.  That is insane.

I didn't get a call from Craig, who called me was a lady, but she spoke so fast I had to keep playing the message over & over again just to make sure I heard her right.  I do know she did mention she was from IC Systems, even left her extension but not her name.  And I know there is a lot of times I wouldn't even answer my phone at work.  And now hear all of you talk about who they are, who have time to argue with these people like if it's their money.  They would really argument with you & I even had to tell one once that you have to talk to the person that handling my financial situation & she still wanted to argue with me.  The only way I got her off the phone was told, well.  Let me give them a to find out whats going on and then I would give you a call right back....  Never called them & I never call that company back.  That was the only way to get her off my office phone from disturbing me.  It's very annoying

The "Mini-Miranda Warning"
Each time a debt collector contacts you, he must give you what is know as a "Mini-Miranda Warning" This warning received that name because it is reminiscent of the warnings that police should give you if you are arrested, however, "Mini-Miranda Warnings" have nothing to do with criminal law. A "Mini-Miranda Warnings must contain the following words (or words imparting this meaning):

"Hello, I am _________(name of collector). I am (or this office is) a debt collector representing____________(creditor). Information obtained during the course of this call will be used for the purpose of collecting the debt."

If the creditor has not been advising you as above, you may have a right to sue.

Debt Collector's Calls at Work

The FDCPA states:

Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt -

Your Rights to Stop Harassment by the Debt Collectors

In so far as collectors are concerned, you are not required:

To discuss anything with a collector unless you want to;
To answer a phone for a collector (this works with called ID).
To speak with the collector if you do answer.
To answer any questions at all posed by the collector (collectors will often demand that you rearrange your finances, or cut back on other expenses to pay them; there is no requirement that you justify your lifestyle to a collector).
To say "good-bye" before you hang up.
To be truthful about your personal and financial affairs (you do not have to disclose private information about assets or income).
Important: There is no reason you need to acknowledge that you owe the money! This is very important if the debt is old. By acknowledging the debt, you may actually extend the time the creditor can sue on it. All states have statutes of limitations on debt collecting. Few states are more than six years. Many are less. You can extend this limitation by acknowledge the debt or even by making a partial payment!

We continually get called by I.C. Systems, all hours of the day, 7 days a week. They were identified on caller ID. Now they are coming in as unknown caller. This started about one month ago. I never answer the phone but I started to pick up and say nothing and nothing is said on the other end.  A Tom Murphy left his name this time. From reading others' reports, they are debt collectors. We have no debts at all. How does this happen?

They call my work almost every day for the past two weeks. I have informed them several times not to call my work that I can not talk or take personal calls on my work phone. I also informed them That they should contact and discuss all matter with Credit solutions, who I acquired as my representative for resolving my credit problems. I also informed them that they need to send me a letter, or call me only at home, and leave a message. they have also, contacted my human resource dept. inquiring about me, and had them call me, and also patch them through to my office phone.
according to Federal trade Commission, It is illegal for these companies to call and bother you at work.

Ive had to leave my answering machine off during the day, because this person leaves rude messages on my phone. I am tired of getting calls from this person and I always tell them the same thing. The person they are looking for is not here, but they continue to leave message. By the way this person name is Craig Joseph and the first time he called he started asking who I was and do I know the person he is calling about. It ended up being a yelling match and then I hung-up the phone.
