Never went to college but somehow getting calls for a student loan . Asked them to remove me from their list .
Amy 2013-12-26 19:48:35 Unknown
Well they need to quit calling me...I have student loans but they are all current....

It's simple. Pay your student loan and they won't call you. I have to defer mine again because like most of America I cannot afford my student loans. NEVER EVER EVER EVER go to a "for profit" college!!!! Instead go to an in-state university. (Preferably a state school). If u are low income you should not only apply for and receive state grants but you will get federal aid as well. Free college. ;-)

Hahaha. Good one.

"Mysteriously" asked for your number?
"Pssst, hey you. Yeah, you writing that check. Come over here behind this rack of soldering irons. Look buddy, can I get your number. Shhhh, not so loud."
money man 2013-12-12 00:20:41 Unknown
They can not call a cell phone or a land line if you let them know you pay by the call. A collection can not cost you money above the money owed. Technically you can deduct any fees( check over the phone, western union fees ect) you pay for paying the bill. They wont tell you that, but when they offer you those options, you can deduct the costs. It is a federa law. Part of the fair debt and collections act. I was a super. at a credit bureau for several years.

I've been getting these calls for several years. First it was NCO Financial, now it's SallyMae. These calls all started when I wrote checks to either Radio Shack, or Walmart. Checks don't have telephone numbers, but these clerks mysteriously asked for my number. There are several businesses that sell your number. I like many of you don't have an outstanding student loan, or any other delinquent debt. I suspect that NCO is parenting this operation, in an attempt to coerces money from anyone who will submit from this tactic. No civil servant calls after hours or on the weekend, let alone ask for personal information. Everyone who is being victimized should fill out a report to the FCC. If they get enough complaints, maybe they'll be prosecuted. In the meantime, my land line phone ringer and answering volume has been muted, and I'm on a relative's cell phone account.

I keep getting calls asking for someone other than myself for a Sallie Mae student loan. I don't have any such loans and when I attempt to call the number, I get nothing.
chontell 2013-11-11 02:00:06 Unknown
Yes it was sallie mae
HLM 2013-10-18 23:25:12 Unknown
Update- I called the 800 # and went through hold and all that. The woman I spoke with insists that they are a legit organization, that she's a government employee, that she works for the Dept of Education, and that some Sallie Mae loans are through the Dept of Education, which is why there are different phone numbers they contact you through. She insisted that "Heather" calls when you are delinquent on loans. She was able to "see my last date logged in" to the Sallie Mae website. The only information she had from me was my name and phone number. I refused to give them my account or SS # but, without otherwise confirming my identity (through address or email address or anything) discussed with me my loans and was able to see the last time I logged on? If they ARE affiliated in any way with the dept of edu or Sallie Mae then something illegal and fishy is going on.
To those of you that are saying you've never had any loans or only recently took them out and have only just received or not yet received your money- you need to check that your identity hasn't been Compromised/Stolen. She refused to take me off their call list, said she couldn't take me out of the auto dialer and then hung up with me when I insisted she did and told her I was going to register on the FCC do not call registry.
Good luck to all of you. Don't give them a dime. Make my and all payments through the Sallie Mae website and screen shot EVERYTHING for proof.

I think this number is a scam. When I call the number on the Sallie Mae website they are very helpful and very nice. And when I call and check in, they DON'T harass me for like at least 2 wks. I do have loans I am currently unable to pay. Even though I'm practically in default they don't harass me. "Heather" is NOT from Sallie Mae. It is an auto dialed with a prerecorded message. So it's SOME kind of scam.

These people always call for my dad! From Phoenix University/Sallie Mae! I think it's a scam! My dad never applied for student loans with them or anything!! Wish they'd stop calling!!!
mary jones 2013-09-19 01:47:28 Unknown
Why should I pay something I don't owe? I've never had a student loan and they keep calling me! So, don't go spouting off to others about paying their bills to stop the calls. Why should someone pay money out that they do not owe?
I know people who do have student loans and always pay on time. Sallee Mae calls their work place every week demanding payment and every week the ones paying provide proof of payment. Then, Sallee Mae people PROMISE that they will not be contacted again as long as they are current with their payments. One week later, there they (Sallee Mae) go again!!! Ring-a-ding-ding, Sallee Mae calling!! It's enough to make one consider disconnecting their phone, quitting their job, and living on the streets. At least they can't call you there!

It's Sallie Mae student loans trying to collect on delinquent payments.
Barbara 2013-08-25 18:29:50 Unknown
Go to the FCC and fill out the form on line. I've done that with every idiot caller and they have stopped calling. I'm doing it right now for this number.
gene 2013-07-29 00:06:20 Unknown

This number is from Sallie Mae Student Loans

This number keeps calling my 11 yr old grandson.
Rick 2013-07-10 00:14:41 Unknown
If they are truly calling for someone with the same name as you, it's not harassment. They have a legitimate right and reason to try to collect the debt. You should answer and explain tyhar=t you aren't who they are looking for. Sallie Mae is a legit organization, and if you ask to speak to someone higher up they should accomodate your request. If there are further problems then the FTC or oyur state Attorney General's office should be able to put a stop to the calls.

This is the collection offices of Sally Mae. You likely receive a call from this number if you have defaulted or have a past due student loan through the Department of Education.
Don't let them take your tax return. File for a forbearance due to economic hardship or refinance.

It's Sallie Mae, student loans. These a***oles have my credit card on auto-pay, and they still call me!
MrsT8r 2013-06-05 18:43:24 Unknown
If you called back from a restricted number, a non main number on file, or if your phone number appears on several accounts, they need to know which loan or loan holder you are calling about. What sucks is that you are calling a batch number and because it was a robot calling you will never know who was being asked for.

Listen to Dean on the bottom of page 6.
If you don't owe a debt, or the debt isn't due, it should raise some red flags of the legitimacy of this number.
123 2013-04-04 17:51:32 Unknown
Go back to school and maybe you can write better. It is spelled "it's" when it is a contraction. Also, it is "the government will take the money you OWE them", not own them, unless you think the American people own the government, in which case that is another discussion.
Dean 2013-04-03 22:00:32 Unknown
More of the same. Left message with wife for me to call back at this number (matched caller ID). When I did, got numerous computer prompts for SSN (which I ignored) and waited for live person.
First thing she did was ask for my SSN (did not identify herself). I asked who she was and that it's illegal except for the SSA. She stated it's not illegal and tried to say more, but I cut her off saying it's been illegal since I was first issued mine in 1974 and specifically asked her again who she was. Finally claimed to be Sallie Mae. I again said I was returning their call, what did they want, but NO ATTEMPT was made to find out who I was other than SSN. Refused to put me on do not call list. Call ended with me advising I would be filing a complaint with the do not call registry.
NOTE: THIS NUMBER DOES NOT MATCH THE NUMBER LISTED ON THE SALLIE MAE WEBSITE!!! https://www.salliemae.com/about/contact-us/

Call Sally Mae, let them know you have been getting calls from them. Ask why they are calling requesting money that hasn't been disbursed yet. Also contact your financial aid dept. They can assist you with this as well.
