My wife keeps getting calls from this place stating they are Department of Check Systems.  They state that she owes a "payday loan debt" that she went bad on however the idiots don't have any of the information for her correct nor do they even have the bank name we use correct.  I called and asked if they had a website because most legitimate companies do and they stated that its in the construction phase.

Anyone else getting a call from them?

Yes, I got one from an investigator Allen. Sounded very threatening and intimidating.  I have never gotten a "payday loan" so I don't know why they are calling me.  I pay my bills on time.  I'm ignoring the call.

I got a call stating the same thing about my identity being compromised.  When I called back I spoke with a Mr. Garcia who went over my information.  He explained to me that it's a standard message that's left about the identity theft because so many accounts have that problem.
I dealt with Mr. Garcia who wasn't overly nice, but he was respectful and professional.  I took out a loan and had not payed it back, so they helped me resolve it.  I got a letter in the mail stating I was done with this account.  A collection agency called me about the same loan not too much after so I called Mr. Garcia back.  I told him the person who called was threatening me with jail time.  Mr. Garcia explained that they were just trying to get more money out of me and that I can't go to jail for this, even if it wasn't paid off yet.
Be wary of people who call you about payday loans!! I have had 3 companies call to collect on this which is illegal.  Mr. Garcia is very helpful and called them for me, and after that they stopped harassing me. I'm interested to see what everyone else has to say about Check Systems but in my opinion theyre the most reputable company I've dealt with

Called the number back today. Spoke with Anne. I asked immediately if this was a matter of my identity being compromised, and was told "No, 1 out of 6 people seem to have that issue who call, but that doesn't seem to be the case with you." So in order to get me to call her back, she had to falsify information in her voice mail, which scared me to death since I have been a victim of identity theft....this is also known as a bait and switch. She rattled off two companies I may owe money to. I immediately asked that copies of the debt information be sent to me via postal mail. I was asked if I disputed the debt, to which I replied "no, but I need proof of the debt." I was then told I would have to speak with the legal department so I could provide a statement.

I was then put on hold for 5 minutes when someone from the legal department picked up. Frustrated and angry, I told the person in "legal" that I was not going to make any statement until I had written proof of the debt. The Legal Officer told me I could have the information e-mailed to me or faxed. I told him I wanted it mailed. I told him, since he was in "legal" that I felt it was wrong that I was sent a voicemail saying I may have been a victim of identity theft, yet when I call, it;s nothing of the sort. He stated he "didn't care. There are over 5000 employees here, I can't control what they say." He then said he would have to put me on hold again, for what reason I did not know, because at this point, I hung up. I am retaining an attorney as I don't believe I should be a victim of unscrupulous collection practices. I have also filed a complaint with my Attoney General's Office.

Debt Collector
Got a call from this number today from an Anne Brennan. She left a voice mail, stating she was calling in regards to possible identity theft.....Not sure why a debt collector would be concerned with my identity being stolen....

Also sir, if your wife is getting calls and none of the information matches, she probably shares the name of someone in our system.  Please call back and I will make sure there are no more calls to your home.

I answered your call, sir.  What you asked is if you could make PAYMENTS on the website.  I told you that you could only make payments through the company.  You also asked for an address and I wanted to make sure you had the correct office.
I work in the central office and get about 20 calls a day asking to send in payments, however they are asking the wrong office and payments get misplaced. That is why I needed clarification from you, and if you'd like to call back I'd be more than happy to help you with whatever it is you're trying to understand.

We are contracted by payday loan companies to locate individuals who have defaulted on their loan payments.  That is what we do.  I'd be happy to help anyone who has any questions.
