Why don't the phone company do sompthin about these jerks? They are the only ones with the technology that could put a stop to it. The number is very similar to the SCE planned outages alert, 888-759-6065. I bet they are in bed together on this making money somehow...

Got 3 missed calls from 888-759-6056. An hour and a half later had one missed call from
800-759-6056. Because of the messages here, I looked at a post card I got from SCE about an upcoming planned outage. The 888 number is on the postcard. Based on what I read here, I'm not calling either of the numbers back. The 800 one looks like a scam of some sort.

When I call the number back it tells me that for a charge of $4.99 I can get their number to call them. What is that about?
| KAlex 2010-08-06 23:03:39 Unknown |
I didn't answer the 800 number either but called it back. The 866 number had called two times today not leaving messages. The 800 number said that I would receive a text back and to reply entering "Y"... and I could enroll in a service to get the information for $9.99... The 866 number went directly to SCE but I couldn't get to a live person.

Got a call from 888-759-6056 followed by another from 800-759-6056 several hours later. The 888 number is a legitimate SCE number. The 800 number asked me to dial a 900 number. If both of these are associated with SCE, that's pretty sheisty.

Thanks for your post and the string of posts about your experience. I work for SCE and will contact the appropriate department to look into the automated call process. The intent of the calls is to provide valuable information to you, not annoy you. I expect the problem to be resolved.

Got 3 missed calls today, finally picked up the last one but was hung up on. The called the 800 number back and got a message saying "this number has new information..." and was told I could enroll in a service to get the information for $9.99. What the heck?

Southern California Edison calling to inform of planned outage the following day - from 8am-5pm! Called the referral number (888) 759-6056, got a recording asking for a code number from a postcard or door hanger. Not finding that, had to press "0" two different times to get a live person who verified that the outage would be for the entire duration.

Missed the first call, answered the second call. It was an automated phone call from Southern California Edison alerting me that there is going to be a service outage in my area coming up while they do some required work.
