Received yet another collections notice in the mail. This time for a Sears card in the amount of $6,859.57. I had a Sears card in 2000. Paid it off in 2002, and never had that high of a balance. Called these people and he said it was active in 2006. Huh? Completely bogus. He said they have a rating with the BBB. I said yes and it is an F. He said all debt collection agencies have an F rating. Then why bring it up? Do not entertain these people. Ignore the notices. They buy old debt or make it up. I am going to report this to every organization I can. Pound said. Not my circus,, not my monkeys.

A good free example of this letter is available from budhibbs.com. Send it by certified mail and keep a copy. Dont bother with the Do Not Call list or the FTC because your govt has allowed these scumbags to be exempt from those laws. But once you send the required letter then the FDCPA law applies and they must stop calling or you can sue them. This is the info the collectors dont want you to know. Use it to your advantage. The more people that learn the truth and act on it, the sooner they will all be outta business!

Just called this number and they said it was from a credit card through BofA in 2004. I did not have one from them. Told her to pound sand and don't call again.

I got a bill from First National Collection Bureau out of Sparks, NV for a debt from BofA for a whopping amount of $19,521.89. I haven't banked with BofA in over 18 years, and I have never taken out a loan or run up a card from them.

You sound like one of those scammers. Do you work for them because you are talking foolishly. Even if you don't pay your debt, by the way I do! The company you would owe has insurance on that money in case one doesn't pay it back, it is then placed on your credit after alloted time, then becomes a charge off still on your credit even if you decide to stupidly pay after 7 years it will remain there as slow credit. Its a SCAM if anyone buys your old debt, because its PAID, no matter how it gets paid, with money or defaulted credit its been paid.

} debt collectors only have a specific number of years they can attempt to collect
In 48 states a debt SoL does *NOT* limit the ability to collect, only the ability to *SUE* to collect. Junk debt collectors are keen to trick people into admitting to owe or taking a partial payment, so that they *can* sue based on a reset SoL.

The following statement is incorrect:
Of course, if you make the mistake of talking to them and agree that that old debt of yours did exist at one time, this nevertheless starts the time clock all over again and... voila!... you owe the debt again.
You cannot restart the SOL life by agreeing that the debt is yours, or by paying them.
You really should read the FDCPA before giving false information to those people looking for help,
snyper 2014-04-18 01:24:59 Unknown
And there is no doubt about it, you are a shill
None 2014-04-18 01:20:22 Unknown
You don't know what you are talking about so I am with others and thinking you work from them. They have called me and I don't have any debt. Not only that they are mean and threatening all the time. If you have a debt and it's legitimate then why are these people saying that payment can only be made with prepaid cards, no one is going to tell you that if the are real companies. Why are you checking out this website if you are so perfect?

This is the number to First National Collection Bureau, out of Sparks Nevada. Although their name might sound official like, but their nothing more than many bottom feeding collection agencies that go after old/statute barred debt using semi-legal tactics harassing people in hopes of scoring anywhere from 20 to 30 cents on the dollar. Of course once any payment is made, the entire debt's clock resets to day 1 and then they come after the rest using the courts. Just block their number. If your debt is passed the statue of limitation, there is nothing they can do.

I receiver a letter in mail saying I owe this creditor and they give name of credit card and where. the card number they show is to a different credit card company. they say how much I owe and say they want to settle and give me 70% off debt. I would have to make 6 monthly payments. I don't even owe as much as they say on that named credit card and that is not the credit card number to the card they talking about. I have not contacted them. I heard scammers and people who claim to be debt collectors can get your info really easy of internet and through your name and address.

They started calling me for someone I never knew. I did call them back, told them I had my number for over two years and please stop calling. They said they would stop. Am hoping so.
Davis 2014-03-19 21:21:48 Unknown
Same story...
Asking for a James T Cornelius. It's now been going on for ~3 years on and off. Just going to delete it every time they call.
Brandon 2014-03-13 01:31:59 Unknown
Did you not read what they said? He said buy debt and call people with the same name. Your parents should be ashamed.
Clydesmom 2014-03-04 18:54:17 Unknown
Too bad you don't still work there because I would be happy to subpoena you in a FCDPA case to testify to the fact that you openly admit they break the law. Under the FCDPA if a consumer tells you to cease and desist contacting them you HAVE TO. Under the FCDPA you cannot use vulgar or threatening language. Thanks for your information. Always nice to know who the criminals in society are.

Add http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-510-842-5679 to the list of numbers those bottom-feeding rightwing parasites
use to call people from. They just Robo called-(Also illegal in the state the phone number originated from) and invited me to call them back at this number (800-824-6191) with a reference number about a personal matter. I have no debts haven't had in decades, the stink of scam or possibly zombie debt collecting premeditates from those people. Remember people; debt collectors only have a specific number of years they can attempt to collect from you, the usual timing starts from the date of your default until the State you resided in when the debt occurred says they can continue to harass you (in years.) To find out what your State's Statute of Limitations is check with the BBB, your State's consumer protection agencies, and or this website: http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/debtcollectionsol.php (There are others out there, and this is just one of them.) Don't let those losers push you around. Arm yourself with knowledge so you can tell them where to get off.

Caller ID says 434-363-3314. Message left says to call back to 800-824-6191. Since I am debt free except for my current bills, they can kiss my a**... I won't be calling them back.

YOUR STATE:
Properties have gone down all over our country in tornados, hurricanes, and fires.
These phone callers and p.o. boxes are doing nothing but harassing the general public with nuisance phone calls.
They are endangering themselves as a business, and most people come to realize that when they have no debts in a particular state the information that they are sharing is bogus. It's called (fishing) and they are gathering information on you just by you speaking with them. SOME STATES IMPOSED a $17,000 fine for the capture and whistle blowers of these jerks.
CEASE AND DESIST! from harassing people with these phone calls or be investigated nationally for your inability to abide by the laws of your state and your country.
We believe you are being called from Oaks, PA. 19456 or Sparks, NV. 89435 Phone 415-200-4682 or 1800-824-6191

The ?SCAM? Jake, comes in to play when You, (or the Company you work for, First National Collection Bureau) misrepresents that an ?Alleged? debt is ?Valid? and ?Legally Collectable? by you, just because the debt was bought ?UNVERRIFIED? from another Collection Agency for a few pennies. In actual fact, the debt may have either been charged off ?LEGALLY? in a Bankruptcy Court, or is past the ?LEGAL? Statute Of Limitations for you or your company to file for a summary judgment in Court to ?LEGALLY? collect on the debt, or it could be a case, like JR was referring to, of "Debt Tagging" which means the person your calling is not the "Deadbeat Debtor" but merely has the misfortune of having a similar name. This practice is deceitful and preys on the naiveté of the uninformed by means of threats and misinformation for the sole purpose of personal gain. In other words; by definition, A SCAM!
FDCPA laws were written ?SPECIFICALLY? with violators like YOU and your Company in mind who ?Illegally? misrepresent the facts for your own gain against ?alleged? Deadbeat Debtors who "LEGALLY" and "MORALLY" do not owe you "legally collectible" money.

received a call showing # 615-647-0360, on 1-1-14 left a message to call 1-800-824-6191, concerning a personal debt. I have been retired for over 10 ten years, and all of a sudden I getting these calls from this agency saying I owe money. I haven't had any debt for over 20 years, and after reading some of the messages from other people, I will not be talking to these people. I think this is some kind of scam
