e 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
It's Lane Bryant credit card. It answers as Catherine's... but it's lane bryant
anon 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
they also call from 866-797-8775
Ammie 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
Okay. So, I've just called this number back. They are asking me to input my 16 digit account number (Catherine's credit card number) or my social security number in order to allow me to speak to a human. Sounds very suspicious. I think this is the newest method of identity theft. We should all put in fact numbers.
Ammie 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
Me again. So, I put in a fake social security number and they connected me to a human. This person needed my name, address, phone number in order to talk to me. I told him that I do not give that information over the phone, that my bill is paid in full and that I will be going down the block to my Catherine's store to see what is up.
NEVER GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!
Stephanie 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
I do have a Fashion Bug card, and they are all together under Spirit of America Bank... yup, I'm behind....but don't freakin' harass me and not even leave me a message!!!
I've already called them with my situation, I don't need to be harassed.
Reeeediculous!!
Zeek49 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
Well I got 3 calls today, phone on silent at work, no message left. One was from 800-838-4112 and two from 866-797-8775.
I don't know of Catherine's but I too have a Fashion Bug card, account paid off...if it is them, I will not frequent there store if they are selling my number...and I will turn them into our No Call List in Missouri, and the Federal No call as well, we are on that list for both. Sad, you shop somewhere and they make money by selling your phone number...I will see if this is Fashion Bug. They won't get information from me, at any cost.
Zeek49 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
IT IS FASHION BUG #.
I received a call at 6 pm, had a recording to hold and promptly a lady asked for me by first name, she told me she was from Fashion Bug and that our call may be recorded, I told her fine, she was professional. She advised I had a past due balance, I told her the only balance was the $25.00 fee they want to charge for me to renew my card, I advised I had sent my statement and a note that I did not want the card if I had to pay for it, she said she would transfer me to customer service to zero my balance, a few minutes later, a man with strong accent said he was customer service, and that the call may be recoreded, I told him fine...he wanted the last 4 digits of my SS to verify information, I told him no, he called me, I have had an acount with them for a few years they have all the info they need, including my address, the said he needed it, I repeated, then said I needed the account zeroed and told him why, then he wanted my date of birth, I said no, you called me, just zero my account, if you need something verified feel free to mail me something and I will mail it back, and I said very kindly, please do not call me again and bye bye and I hung up.
Whew...so be careful if you do have an account with them, I don't know if they are really who they say they are...they should not call back, if so, then I turn them in. I always paid them on time...so sad...Good luck everyone...

They called and it was just dead air no one answered, no one hung up.
Cindy 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
When I reverse called the number, like many of you, it answered as Catherine's and asked for personal information. I hung up and went on line, calling the Catherine's posted Customer Service number on their website. The woman researched this number and said it wasn't one of their numbers as they don't use any 838 prefixes. Catherine's is a sister store to Lane Bryant but I was told by Catherine's customer service that they don't cross telemarket or share credit card information. I do have a L.B. card but it is current. Not sure what else to do to make the calls stop. Anyone?
Dee 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
I get these calls all the time on my cell. I do have a Lane Bryant card but it is current. Also, I only owe them $17.00. I never answer 800 calls. No message is left. It's very annoying!
lost 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
any ideas?
Dave in Hollis Maine 2008-12-29 15:17:38 Unknown
Here in this household if we get a call and it is not a real live person, or any kind of an automated call, we instantly hang up. Unless there is a real live person who identifies themselves when we say 'hello', all calls are considered telemarketers and we instantly hang up... no matter how many times they call back. PERIOD !!
If the call is that important, a real person has to make the call... we don't care if it is the president of the United States... this way they get the hint and either give up or have a real person call to get any of us.

This place calls my cell phone multiple times and when I answered it, asked for Theresa. Informed the person nicely the first time they had the wrong number and I was not the party they wanted and did not know the person. Called back twice more, answered last call and I informed the woman calling again they had the wrong number and that I was not now nor ever Theresa and told her to please quit calling my cell phone.....she hung up on me (and I said it nicely).

OK I know who they are and why they are calling, but they are very rude by never leaving a message when they call. I usually don't post to these things but for Christ Sakes they are calling 5-8 times a day all hours of the day and night and i have even sent them a letter ( fax, e-mail, and certififed mail) asking them to stop calling me and they haven't listened. If anyone from the company reads this please understand not ceasing all calls when asked is a violation and you can be fined.
ouchthatburns 2008-09-22 18:37:18 Unknown
they are not a collection *agency* however they are calling for in-house collections.
the majority of people called are receiving calls due to late payments on one of their store credit cards
Beth 2008-09-17 13:12:02 Unknown
calls early in the morning and never leaves a message
ouch 2008-08-26 19:43:15 Unknown
These calls are From "spirit of america bank" which is a bank owned by charming shoppes for their store credit cards.
Whose is charmingshoppes, they own many popular retails store chains. You are receiving a call regarding your store card at:
Fashion Bug
Catherines
Lane Bryant
Crosstown Traders
Petite Sophisticate
This particular number appears to be their collections department which calls regarding late payments
Sarah 2008-07-22 01:48:28 Unknown
Thanks for posting about this...I kept receiving multiple calls a day from this number and it was really freaking me out that I had money due that I didn't know about. Turns out it was Lane Byant wanting me to upgrade my account.
Well, a message would be useful. I really hate how companies have decided to just call you over and over again instead of leaving a message.
Loki 2008-06-10 00:22:58 Unknown
Yeah they as well as Fashion Bug call me every day about 6-8 times a day and never leave a message. My account is paid current, i am going to contact a rep at each number and advise them to stop calling and if they don't stop with in a 48 hr period i am going to report them for harrassment. I understand calling if your account is pass due but if the account is current they shouldn't be calling several times a day, or at all
April 2008-05-06 19:03:14 Unknown
I got a call from them but they didn't say anything so I hung up. One time they called and I did answer and they finally answered as well, or talked, and they wanted to know if I wanted to upgrade my account or something that was total bs that would lock me into some crap so becareful.
Thanks,
April

I am delighted that you folks have posted this!
justme 2008-03-07 01:08:41 Unknown
Do you have a fashion bug account?
Arkansas Target 2008-03-06 03:49:28 Unknown
This might be the people who keep calling me in connection with my Fashion Bug account, then, claiming that I need to contact them about "an important business matter". Well, my payments are current, so I don't know what they could legitimately want and I'm ignoring them.
For the record, Spirit of America bank is the credit-issuing source for Catherine's, Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, Arizona Mail Order Co. and their affiliates, and Bedford Fair Apparel and *their* affiliates. These are all mail order/online companies that specialize in women's plus-sized clothing. Only Lane Bryant and Fashion Bug have actual stores, and the Lane Bryant store acts like it has nothing to do with the website or catalog (although they have basically the same merchandise).
They are NOT a collection agency, but they might be trying to get you to open an account or sell you some account services.
