I do not give out personal information to anyone I do not know.  Anyone can hack a name for caller ID .... TOO MANY PEOPLE STEALING ID AND OTHER STUFF TO SCAM MONEY/CREDIT......  I HAVE HAD PEOPLE WANT MY INFO BEFORE EVEN IDENTIFYING WHO THEY ARE OR WHO THEY WORK FOR.... CLAIM THEY CAN NOT TELL ME WHAT COMPANY IS CALLING UNTIL I PROVE MY ID.....  

WHEN THEY DO THAT, I TELL THEM TO NOT BOTHER CALLING BACK, FOR THAT IS AS FAR AS THIS CONVERSATION IS GOING....

This one called, did not leave as message....... If a machine calls and I answer and there I no one there, that constitutes harassment.......  I am a day sleeper, if I answer, you had better say something or get reported as harassing over the phone.

I missed a call from this number. I called back and they said it was "Financial Corporation of America". I told the lady that I missed a call and she asked for my phone number. I gave it to her, and she said "That number is not in our system, we must have misdialed. Weird.

Who is this

They just called me. I assumed that it was a telemarketer and before the woman who mispronounced my simple, easy English name had a chance to tell me what it was about I told her to put this number on her do-not-call list and hung up, as I always do for mystery 800 calls from "toll free caller".  

Being minimally curious and having a minute to spare, I googled the number and found this. Since I actually do owe way into five digits to a hospital for a 6-week stay, including four back-to-back surgeries and a lot of missing time on my part, it was probably a legitimate call but I will never be discussing the situation with any collection agency. I will never speak to them and I will never pay a collection agency a cent. I have made small  payments to the hospital at my convenience since some time last year, although apparently not often enough--lol.  

Funny thing is that I had this bill confused with another medical payment that I make every month because they have a very similar name and my brain wasn't working even as well as my body at that time. By the time I figured it out, quite by accident, a year or so had passed and the hospital NEVER ONCE sent me a bill--not that I'm aware of anyway. Not being one to stir the pot, I let it slide until I finally got a letter from the hospital asking for a small commitment of a payment every month, which I agreed to. I think I missed either Nov. or Dec., so that's probably why they turned me over to collection.  Well, whatever.  It's not going to bother me at all and my future small payments will be made directly to the hospital and NEVER to the collection agency. Considering how much I owe, I'll probably die from old age before I get it paid off, but again, whatever.

THIS NUMBER CALLS ME TWICE A DAY EVERYDAY AND WHEN I ANSWER ITS JUST SILENCE AND THEY HANG UP!! UGH

     NOW THE DAY AFTER Christmas, yes Dec. 26th.!  Oh yes they called me again when I had been very nice and ask on Dec. 24th never call me or and place I work at or have ever been at for any reason including my home.  I asked Rep. to contact me thru my attorney which I give the contact information.  I also was told they had tried to contact me thru the mail I ask if they had a signature confirmation or even a tracking number?  Nope, again I told the Rep. they had never sent me anything by mail.  I ask them to only again only contact me by mail or thru my attorney's office.  They called my at 5:pm Dec.26th we as a family had just sat down for our dinner in the evening I know it means absolutely nothing, nothing to them or most reading this and that just fine and dandy BUT.  I'll totally give out what I receive so buddy, be prepared.   You called my home 5 times TODAY counting that call you have been totally documented as you were told on each call today and you will no longer be working or ever speaking with me ever again!  But YOU WILL W/W my Law Office that I own!

I seen down in here telling everyone to  " register all your phones with NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY at: WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV also you can file a complaint with the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION at: WWW.FTC.GOV you could also go to their website: WWW.FCOA.COM and contact them via email and send them an E-MAIL or letter via U.S. MAIL to "CEASE COMMUNICATIONS" and they will have no choice but to contact you through the mail. "  I've done this for YEARS with my lawyers even and it does not matter to most of the Debt. collectors they just use a different new hire poor old person being forced to work there""RIGHT"" and have them call you Again and so on and so on get that picture too..

Then that person should think about a life style change and go out and l0ocate a much better job where they get paid and for a big change can then feel good about what they do every day to make a living!!!   And don't tell me there's no job's out there either.  That's such a mind set everyone that thinks there owed something by everyone else!  You can find good jobs every where you must invest your time and efforts to get a GREAT JOB!  I guess what it means stop feeling sorry for yourself or these poor people that are so forced to go and work there and make no money, boo hoo!  GET A GREAT JOB INVEST YOURSELF YOU WILL THEN FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF AND OTHER's around you.

The thing in my situation is this, I have ""JR." on the end of my name My fater never used ""SR."" his whole life he ran up over 40 damn credit cards before he died!  Not Me I have ZERO credit cards I paid mine off before 2005 and he passed on in 2007 they cannot get there records right and every 6 months some poor person being so called forced to work there and has to call ME not looking into. there records that it is not me but ""SR."" he is no longer ALIVE!  I've stopped trying to tell them any more the crazy man ran up those cards and there Crazy firms give him over 40 credit cards over the years and when he got up in age living alone and his mind changed he went Crazy spending on those cards he never used but had collected most through the 1980's when everyone was handing you freee credit cards just sign here!  I blame the firms as much as him for using them  he did was so many others have that has under mind our country today.    And yes I'm mad about it all the poor people being so called forced to work there at what he did before he passed on, at these stupid debt collectors that do nothing but go after people that cannot pay the debt. that was giving to them by companies knowing dam we'll many could not pay back the debt's when they see a $3,000.00 debt and every month is $25.00 payment or even less sent to them and they then give that person another $500.00 to $2,000.00 or even more knowing there not getting the money back in payments.  But they later can hand these over to debt collectors to su people for even more money that they cannot pay so in volume they get pennies back on the dollar they say.  We'll these debt collection agencies & ""LLC"" Law firms that form groups and go after 50,000 fillings a month on individuals that's been bought in list and if they only get 10% of them times 25 or so ""LLC"" lawyers in these 'Mill Groups"  they all then split up the returns of these vast pennies on the dollar returns years down the line and the intrest and fee's they get back in there paper law suites make them all very, very, well off!  Don't kid yourself,.  I know two that do this and yes I'm mad at them too!   So Blah, Blah, Blah.  Enough!

Financial Corporation of America--a debt collector.
They were contacting me for an emergency room bill--but I had already been making payments to another collection company on that bill. Things happen--perhaps the ER sent the debt to two different companies. It should be an easy fix.
I tried to explain this to FCOA with dates, account numbers, contact information, etc.
They still call and send letters. Most recently, I spoke to them the day before yesterday--they have called twice since then.
They refuse to abide by the laws of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
My advice: document everything, contact them per the FDCPA guidelines, then report them to the feds.
I don't mind debt collection companies--they have a job to do. Those companies that are professional and folllow the rules--good for them and I wish them the best of luck.

Based on the content of previous posts, I surmise this call is about a hospital debt. Initially I was telling the hospital that I would pay them if they'd do me the courtesy of sending me an itemized bill. That never happened, even though they'd agreed verbally (I suppose I should have asked for that in writing, but, as "they" say, "you have to be well in order to be sick"....) Instead the hospital sent my (so called) debt to (this) collection agency immediately. I only get a recorded message on my voice mail, with a number to call them back. I hesitate to call them back on my cell phone, no doubt using precious minutes to be "on hold." (The land line where I live is rarely available.)

Do not know them  or have debt problem, this is a sham to get your money.

Keep getting calls from this 1800 number. I don't answer it and then IMMEDIATELY after I'll get a unknown call from a LOCAL 818 area code number. Don't answer the local unknown number. When you call the number back its been disconnected somehow. It's a scam

This is Financial Corporation of America calling from 800-880-8282. They are shisters!!! It is a recorded message and they called a police department!!! They say that by continuing to listen to this message you are acknowledging that you are the intended person they are calling about.
They also say to call back and reference Account # 28402079.
Does anyone ever wonder whether this outfit has tried to contact and whether they have gotten in touch with anyone in the US Senate or Congress???
Don't waste your time getting angry with this group of scum.

And how, may I ask,  does a person pay their bills when they can not find a job that pays a "Livable Wage"? Who does it help calling 2-4 times each day over a debt?

Scamming.....preys on the old people

A different collection agency was contacting me for a school debt (NOT financial aid debt just FYI), and they said if I didn't make arrangements in six months I'd get sued. I hung up with them, and immediately called the school and found out no, they have never sued over a debt that is owed to them. I then explained all the other threats, rudeness, etc that was done and they contacted the company directly to confirm all this. Now I get calls from collections but it's not the same company and they are VERY VERY polite and nice. Also I'm paying the school directly when I can and no one is being rude because it's illegal to threaten in such a way.

Reason I'm bringing this up is if this company or ANY collection agency gets rude, threatens in any way, etc. Call the original company you owe to, tell them the situation. 95% of the time they have NO idea this is happening. Then tell them you will not a pay a dime if you're going to be treated this way, because you do not deserve this kind of treatment especially if its something like a medical bill. Obviously if you have a medical bill, then you needed medical treatment, and you couldn't afford it. the joys of high costs of insurance right now. I can guarantee you those original companies will freak out and go after the collection agencies for their bad practices and will probably work with you directly with a great deal.

FYI: The school debt I owe got chopped in half in a settlement option I didn't even request nor agree to just because of what happened. You'd be surprised just how willing these companies are to get pennies on the dollar from YOU especially when you have proof of harassment.

C&D certainly may help if the debt is for professional services (health care provider bill) and you live in a state that prohibits suits for debts for professional services.  Impossible to sue over a hospital bill in Texas, for example. However, C&D will usually mean it just gets passed tot he junk collector.
