I've gotten 2 calls in 2 days from this number on my Verizon cell phone. I agree with the previous poster: the Do Not Call Registry must not work. SO frustrating!

I'm getting anywhere from 2-5 calls a week from this number.  SO annoying.  I guess "do not call" lists don't really matter!

I received a call about 30 seconds after I ended a call to a merchant, so I thought they might be calling back. I answered' "Hello. Hello?" and there was about 10 seconds of dead time, then a click.

They obviously heard me, and then hung up on me!

I can think of no responsible, legal reason why any legitimate company would do this.

Oh, BTW, they called me on my Verizon phone.

Just got a call from this number. If I do not recognize the number I do not answer. They did not leave a voice mail.

I got a call from this number yesterday, and one again today.   If you call back  there is a recorded message asking to "Press 1 if you'd like to speak with a Verizon Wireless Sales Rep". Unwanted call.

Another example of calling, ringing and an instant hang-up as soon as I answered! It fries my tomatoes because I am at work, I should have no problem with Verizon (auto-pay) and the only reason I can think of for this nonsense fits the following imagry:

Imagine a person with little or no hygien, discipline and education but 'gifted' with an unbreakable sense of entitlement. Imagine further that they 'have to occasionally work in order to keep the benefits gravy train running. Further imagine that they are being paid on an 'incentive' basis for the number of calls they make per day, not the quality of results.

This 'imaginary' person would have motive, need and a complete lack of concern for ringing your phone just long enough to prove they reached you. Up your cell tower with barbed wire, nincompoop!

I was getting hang-up calls from this number also, all through the month of December.  I finally got fed up and called them back.  The recorded greeting was "Thank you for your interest in Verizon Wireless".  When I got through to a representative, they told me I was eligible for an early upgrade on both my family phones, but that the only way to get the upgrade would be to call back at that number.  They said I couldn't do it online or in stores.  The sales person was pretty pushy but backed off when I told him to put me on the Do Not Call list.

Once I got off, I called the main Verizon Wireless customer service line.  Their automated greeting was "Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless".  The rep I spoke with said she couldn't verify whether the call I got was legitimate, but she did verify that my primary phone was eligible for an annual upgrade.  She said the second phone was not eligible, though, which definitely conflicted with what the other person had told me.

So...all told, I think this mysterious 800 number is some company that's being paid by Verizon to up-sell on its wireless customers.  Especially since they don't technically acknowledge that you're actually talking to Verizon when you call ("Thank you for your interest"...please!)  I don't know - it seems fishy.  Maybe they are legitimate, but I'm not sure I'd want to risk giving my credit card # or personal information to some random person over the phone, especially when Verizon won't even verify that it's a legitimate call.
