Just received a hang-up call from this number.  I said hello twice, they just hung up. I tried to redial them and got a busy signal. Since I have no debt don't know who it could be, but it's extremely annoying and rude.

This company is a collection company,  Nationwide Credit, Inc., and not DirectTV only. I think I also read that this company is used by QVC as well. If this is true, it speaks volumes about DirectTV and QVC as companies.  Nationwide Credit, Inc. does not follow the rules and has had to pay huge penalties for it as evidenced in http://www.ftc.gov/opa/1998/10/nationwide.shtm

just a guess that  the poster identified as  "...."  works for a collection agency;  by 'tis' posts, it is apparent that debtors in general don't deserve common courtesies; so IMHO neither do the law abusing individuals that work for the bottom feeder collection agencies that don't adhere to collection activity laws, although those minimum wage CA jobs are tough to live on, (even with bonuses for collecting any amount)....  It's a tough time for many people economically, so CA are getting away with much more abusive ways these days. Unless consumers are educated about what is and isn't legal, it will continue. Report them! Put it in writing!

I have discovered this company is called Nationwide Collections. They are located in Georgia (at least one office) Another name/number for them is Nationwide Recovery Services NRS, 1-800-771-3400.

They are one of the two collection companies used by Terminex.  Other creditors may use them as well.

My issue with them is this.  A person calls and first says "I have an important message for xxxxxx, Is this xxxxx?"  I made the mistake of saying yes. Then person said, "Your address is xxxx xxxxxx, xx, xx, is this correct?

Well that's where I became suspicious.  Who is going to verify their own personal information to an unknown person over the phone in this day and age of identity theft?  Not me.  So I asked who the person was and who they represented and what was wanted.  She said, "I can't give you that information until you verify the information for me."  I refused - telling her it was ridiculous to require folks to give out their personal info to an unknown person for an unknown reason.  After some 'discussion', we hung up.

I think I received three or more of these 'in-person'  phone calls.  THEN I began to get calls from a machine asking the same questions except, 'please press 1 for yes'.  I hung up on those, too.

I finally realized this might be a collection agency.  I had one Terminex payment overdue for which I thought I had made payment arrangements. Called them...found out the 'arrangements' got recorded but couldn't be processed (and I was NOT notified of that).  And that, in fact, payment had gone for collection.   Asked who they used for collections and got the names and phone numbers of the companies.  This number was one of them.

Called the number BUT got an 'after hours message' but no info on the company name or what business hours they were open. Realized I needed to know what state they were in to determine right time to call.  Thought it would be simple to do a reverse 800 number lookup.  Not so....apparently credit collections (and others) 'hide' their listings as they don't want people to know who they are/ what they do.

Looked for an company via 800 look up (SEVERAL  -- had to find one specializing in 'hidden' numbers) before finding this information which I wanted to share for others who might be getting these annoying and ridiculously crafted phone calls.  My feeling is "Identify yourself and your business and THEN I'll take the call...after all I'm not paying a phone bill for THEIR convenience.  They are using up my time and my phone cost and at least could do me the courtesy of identifying any legitimate business they might have with me.

I hope this information helps someone who is being harassed by this company's 'rude' phone contacts.  I'm considering reporting them to the Attorney General of my state for 'unreasonable business practices'.

They call everyday, at least 3 times a day! They are driving me crazy, I am ready to change my number! Register for "Do not call" to prevent this..

They dont even have my correct name, they have called me 5 times today, and its only 1:15. And when I call the number that tells me to call, which is the same number that calls me. I get some guys voice mail, every time.. I have left a Message every single day for him. For the last 2 fricken weeks! How can I stop this maddness???

They say they are debt collectors. They annoyed my mother with calls 3 times a day for several weeks alleging she owed $24 to Terminix. Despite having paid $500 to Terminix and never receiving any additional bills or emails about anymore payments due. My mom paid the small amount anyway just to get rid of the harassing phone calls.

Thanks your information is great. We also have experienced Terminix. Some might suggest they are worst than the pest they pursue.

They keep calling asking for someone who doesnt live here. They call at 7am and thru the day, every day of week. Something needs to be done, they are disrupting our lives!
