Concerning Leagal matter

Recieved a message on my cell voice mail that stated a legal matter, stating that his client turned an account over to them because I was refusing to deal with them and if I didn't contact him with the reference number within 24 hours it would be took to court.  Since the message mentioned my husband's name as well as mine I had him return the call.  He called the number and asked for a Mr. Cuff who was the one that left the message.  He started the conversation by saying Mr.---- my husbands name and said you are very rude on the phone and I can tell you are not going to pay this bill.  My husband asked which company was he refering to and he hung up on him.  When my husband called the companys name was UC Bureau on the recording.

Caller called ex-husband from over 16years ago,  & present motherinlaw saying I am being looked for because my social security # is messed up, How do I get them to stop!!!!!!

They are trying to collect a debt for citibank or another creditor. If you are not the person in debt then you are somehow related/associated with the person in debt.

Got several calls from this number for a name we don't know. Left messages that a callback was needed immediately.  Trying to be the good samaritan, I returned the call they pumped me for my name, phone number, I didn't give my name but they had my phone number on their own caller id.  While I was on the phone they did a reverse lookup on my phone number and said they would remove my number, I told them I think this is a scam to steal identities and got hung up on.  When I called back again, got a different person who was also rude and told me the person Dorothy F. Brown they were looking for was listed as my neighbor and since I did not know that person they had to terminate the call.  Hung up on me again.  Then I decided to look up the number myself and found this page.  The name of the person who left the message was Miss Banks and she said her extension was 63903.  She left other numbers to make it "sound" official.  I feel sure this is still related to the scam we were already victim of.  The phone seems to be one of their most useful tools.  I sure wish these folks could be stopped! I WENT ONTO A GOVERNMENT WEBITE, SO I THOUGHT ALONG WITH CO-WORKER AT WORK NOT TO RECIEVE CALLS AND HAVE CONTACTED MY CELL COMPANY OF HOW MY NUMBER WAS RETRIEVED. THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NO WAY IN WHICH THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN MY NUMBER, AND I BELEIVE, JOHN FILLNER-FILLNER LAW OFFICES, KEPT MY MAIL AFTER I MOVED AWAY FROM HIM DUE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GAVE THEM ALL MY NUMBER.
HE IS CURRENTLY AWAITING A HEARNING IN REGARDS TO HIS ABUSE ACTIONS.

MALLISA CALLED AND LEFT ON ANSWERING MACHINE . LEFT BOGUS MESSAGE FOR ME OR MY SON ABOUT OUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS. sAID COMPANY WAS UNITED ZERO. I FEEL AFTER READING ALL THESE COMMENTS I WILL NOT CALL BACK!!!

I got one from Mr. Benton today (2/21/2008) looking for someone I don't know regarding "her social security number" and possible litigation.  He referenced my maiden name from over 6 years ago!

Very sketchy- I'm not calling back!

I received 3 separate calls from Mr. Benton from United Bureau representing CitiBank, looking for my mother.  First of all, how the hell did they get every single cell phone on my account especially since no names but my own are on them and my mother is not on the account.  He was extraordinarily rude.

The caller left a message on my answering machine for my father. He said he was calling about a case he was working on for CitiBank. He said he was with United Bureau and his name was Mr. Benton- his ext. was 3908. My father does not live with me, nor does he have any accounts with CitiBank to my knowledge. Is this a scam? Or a legit company?

I received two phone calls in the same day from a man by the name of Mr. Green employed by United Bureau. He was looking for my step-son. I told the man that he did not live here...nor are we responsible for his debts. Mr. Green called again the next day and left a message on my answering machine...ignoring the fact that I had told him yesterday not to call my number harrassing me on a debt that wasn't mine.

I also received a phone message from this company asking me to deliver a message to my neighbors to return their call.  They mentioned the neighbor's address and said that their phone was disconnected.  I called the number UCB provided to tell them that it is not my job to deliver their messages and to never call me again since I am on the Do Not Call list.  They said that they don't have a copy of that list and that they can't guarantee that they won't call back again.  I said what she's doing is illegal and she told me it wasn't.  The woman I spoke to was very rude and I ended up hanging up on her.  She called back and when my husband wouldn't let her talk to me, she held in the phone button to make a high pitched noise in his ear.  I filed a complaint on the Do Not Call Registry website and also the FTC website.  The actions of this company are unacceptable.

I received a call from this company, looking for my neighbors. They already had my neighbors address, so they should not be allowed to call me according to the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Also, when I asked the name of the company, I was not told the real name, which also is against the act. The only way they could have gotten my information was to look up my address in a reverse directory, but they tried to make me believe that my neighbors had given me the information. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and if more people file a complaint against their illegal actions and tatics, the FTC will investigate them.

Caller Mary Ramos from United Bureau. She has called repeatedly at home and work and now my inlaws. I called her this morning and asked her not to call my work, inlaws and home. I asked her to send any cooresponding information to me directly through the mail. I asked her to cease communications and she insisted that she will call whom ever to get a hold of me.

Send them a Cease Communication Letter (Via Certified Mail, with return receipt requested). If they continue to call after they have received it, they are subject to fines up to $1,000.00 PER violation.
